<p>The police chief also said that the police had "no reason" to remove the suspect's weapon and&nbsp;that "there's no law for that". He was alluding to the fact that Tennessee does not have a so-called red flag law that allows officials to remove firearms from those they consider to be a potential danger to those around them or themselves.</p>

Screenshots of a LinkedIn profile which allegedly belonged to Hale are circulating&nbsp;on social media. They&nbsp;have identified the trans shooter's&nbsp;pronouns as he/him.</p>

<p>Lately, drag performances in US have seen a transition. Earlier, the performances were in shadows but now they have&nbsp;become&nbsp;a part of the mainstream entertainment.</p>

<p>Republican and Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson said, "It gives confidence to parents that they can take their kids to a public or private show and will not be blindsided by a sexualised performance."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Tennessee Senate has already passed the bill criminalising "adult cabaret performance on public property or in a location where the adult cabaret performance could be viewed by a person who is not an adult." The Senate approved the legislation on a 26-6 vote. All the chamber's Democrats opposing the move.</p>

<p>Tennessee high school students created a robotic hand to help a classmate whose right hand was not fully formed, in an act of friendship which the latter hailed as 'life-changing'.</p>

<p>Sergio Peralta, who got admitted to Henderson high school near Nashville in the fall, always tried to cover up his right hand which was not fully formed, reported CBS News.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“As I was growing up, like during my first years of school, I had a lot of people asked me what’s wrong with … my hand, lots of people, and I used to just say even in kindergarten, ‘I was born like that',” stated the 15-year-old Sergio.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Sergio’s engineering teacher Jeff Wilkins learned about the boy's right hand eventually and assured him that his classmates might be able to help him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In four weeks, the classmates designed, sized and 3D printed a prosthetic hand for Sergio, which changed his life. Sergio, for the first time, used the new prosthetic to catch a ball using his right hand. &nbsp;</p>

<p>He said that although he grew up without a fully formed right hand, he used to do “almost everything”. He added that only after getting the prosthetic, &nbsp;he was able to catch a ball using his right hand.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Henderson student Leslie Jaramillio said that the spirit of engineering class was embodied in the project. &nbsp;“You’re supposed to be engineering, coming up with new ideas, solving issues,” Jaramillo added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sergio, speaking to CBS, said he had never expected such kindness and creativity from his classmates “in a million years”.</p>

<p>“I didn’t know them, so I actually got introduced to them by the teacher. And then that’s what I started working on, and I got to be friends with them. Living without a hand for 15 years and they actually offered me two is (something) actually pretty cool. No one has ever offered me this stuff – (it) changed my life," he added.&nbsp;</p>

High school students create robotic hand to help classmate in Tennessee

<p>After a meth-laced kiss went horribly, a Tennessee woman was charged with second-degree murder of an inmate.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During a jail visit, Rachel Dollard allegedly hid a balloon containing a half-ounce of speed in her mouth and passed it orally to Joshua Brown.</p>

<p>Brown was serving a sentence of 11 years at the Turney Center Industrial Complex Prison in Tennessee for drug-related charges.</p>

<p>Dollard's attempt at supplying contraband to Brown failed miserably when he died of an overdose later as per the corrections department.</p>

<p>Special agents from the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) and the Dickson County Sheriff’s Department arrested her last week.</p>

<p>In Humphreys County, about 90 minutes from country music hub Nashville, the downpour on Saturday broke a 24-hour rainfall record for&nbsp;Tennessee, the National Weather Service said.</p>

<p>Tennessee&nbsp;Governor Bill Lee described "picture of loss and heartache" in Waverly, a hard-hit town of around 4,500 where 20 of the victims died.</p>

<p>"Our hearts and our prayers need to be for those folks in that community, many of them who have suffered not only the loss of their homes but the loss of family members and friends," he said in a televised press conference Sunday after touring the wreckage.</p>

<p>Police chief Grant Gillespie said the other death was in a more remote area of the county.</p>

<p>Initially, about 40 people were reported missing, but by late afternoon that number had been halved.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We're hopeful that we're getting to the end of that list," Gillespie told reporters.</p>

<p>Authorities have imposed a nighttime curfew amid efforts to account for the missing.</p>

<p>Gillespie also urged Waverly residents to remain inside after 8 pm because of "problems with a small amount of looting and trespassing".</p>

<p>Search and rescue operations were continuing Sunday, with workers going from home to home to search for victims or those needing assistance.</p>

<p>The rising water had struck Waverly so quickly that some people were&nbsp;unable to escape, local officials said.</p>

<p>Karen Phair, 61, told local newspaper The Tennessean that Waverly looked like "a war zone".</p>

<p>Humphreys County resident Rickey Larkin, 62, told the New York Times he and his wife had to cling to a mattress as a life raft after "an ocean" engulfed his home.</p>

<p>"We came about a foot from drowning. I thought we were gone," he said.</p>

<p>The Waverly Department of Public Safety posted on its Facebook page a list of names of missing people, and asked for the public's help finding them.</p>

<p>In Washington, President Joe Biden began an afternoon press conference by expressing his "deepest condolences for the sudden and tragic loss of life" in&nbsp;Tennessee.</p>

Rains cause flash flooding in Tennessee; four dead

<p>A Tennessee businessman decided to say 'thank you' to his best friend&nbsp;and companion by giving a gift to be treasured.</p>

<p>Bill Dorris, an 84-year-old man was pet parent of an eight-year-old border collie, Lulu. Since he had a soft corner for his beloved dog, Dorris left nearly $5 million for his 'good girl'.</p>

<p>Dorris, who frequently travelled, died late last year and it has now been revealed in his will that he has left $5 million for Lulu.</p>

<p>He was a frequent traveller and used to leave Lulu with his friend 'Marth Burton' while on his journeys. Burton claims Lulu and Dorris were very close.</p>

<p>"I don’t really know what to think about it, to tell you the truth," Burton told a local media house. "He just really loved the dog."</p>

<p>As per Dorris' will, the $5 million has to be placed in a trust fund and is to be used to manage and fulfil all of Lulu's wishes. It has been specified that Lulu is to stay only with Burton, after Dorris' death.</p>

<p>Singer Taylor Swift has now come out after breaking her age old refusal to talk about politics by endorsing Tennessee Democrats Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper, who are running for Senate and House of Representatives, respectively.</p>

<p>Swift paired social media and social activism in a lengthy Instagram post on Sunday evening. One month before the midterm elections, she endorsed the two Democrats and entreated her followers to register and show up to the polls.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A nearly nude gunman killed at least four people at a Waffle House restaurant near Nashville, Tennessee early on Sunday and then fled after a patron saved lives by wrestling the assault-style rifle from his hands.</p>

<p>The suspected shooter, identified by authorities as Travis Reinking, 29, was still at large and murder warrants were being issued for him, the Metropolitan Nashville Police said.</p>

<p>Reinking, of Morton, Illinois was believed to live near the restaurant. The gunman's vehicle was registered to him and a shirtless man wearing pants believed to be Reinking was spotted in woods nearby, police said.</p>

<p>The gunman, who was naked but for a green jacket, first shot and killed two people in the parking lot of the restaurant in Antioch, a section of southeast Nashville, shortly before 3:30 a.m. (0830 GMT).</p>

<p>He then entered the restaurant and opened fire, police said, killing one patron and wounding another, who later died.</p>

<p>One diner, named by local media as James Shaw Jr., 29, who had hidden near the restrooms, dashed out and pulled the rifle from the gunman.</p>

<p>Shaw's fast actions were credited with saving lives, but in an interview with the Tennessean newspaper he dismissed the idea that he was hero.</p>

<p>"It feels selfish," said Shaw, who added that he had been getting a snack with friends after a fraternity house party. "I was just trying to get myself out. I saw the opportunity and pretty much took it."</p>

<p>Shaw suffered non-life-threatening wounds including an injured elbow, while other patrons suffered facial wounds from shattered glass. He said he did not pursue the fleeing gunman for fear he had another weapon.</p>

<p>As the shooter ran off he discarded the jacket, which contained additional ammunition, according to police.</p>

<p>Police cautioned that the suspect was to be considered still armed and extremely dangerous.</p>
