The shooter has been identified as 24-year-old history student David Kozak who died during the attack, according to the police.&nbsp;

<h2>Who was David Kozak?</h2>

Initial reports suggest that David Kozak lived in a village almost 20 km outside&nbsp;Prague and had been pursuing his master's degree in Polish history at the same university.&nbsp;

Kozak had no prior criminal record but on the day of the shooting, he left his home for Prague, saying "he wanted to kill himself", according to&nbsp;Police Chief Martin Vondrasek.

Vondrasek told reporters that the shooter had a "huge arsenal of weapons and ammunition".&nbsp;Kozak is suspected of killing his father prior to the mass shooting. He is also believed to have killed another man and his two-month-old daughter on December 15 in Prague.&nbsp;

Citing an inquiry into the student's social media activities, Vondrasek said the gunman was inspired by a "similar case that happened in Russia", without providing further details.

Kozak had been planning the university shooting on the messaging app Telegram, often using it as his 'diary' to chronicle his life as well as his murderous schemes.&nbsp;

"I want to do school shooting and possibly suicide," he wrote in a post, as per the Telegraph, adding, "I always wanted to kill. I thought I would become a maniac in the future."

The Czech police confirmed that Kozak shot and killed himself after the police started encircling him from all directions.&nbsp;

There is a sense of shock and fear across the capital city where such violent crimes are a rarity. Kozak opened fire from the fourth floor of the philosophy department building of the university around 15:00 local time (14:00 GMT)&nbsp;and went on a total rampage.

As he opened fire&nbsp;in the classrooms and corridors of the building, the students and staff used furniture to barricade themselves into rooms.

Thirteen out of the 14 victims have already been identified. Three wounded were foreigners - two people from the United Arab Emirates and one from the Netherlands.

As per some claims made on social media, the shooter was wearing a sweatshirt with 'Olympian High School' written on it.

The police have said that the shooting was a result of a gang feud and have added that there was no longer&nbsp;a threat to people inside the mall or living in the neighbourhood.

Forty-year-old Robert Card, a US Army reservist who had gun training, opened fire at Schemengees Bar and Grille and at Just-In-Time Recreation bowling alley in Lewiston.

He was at large after his killing spree and police had launched a manhunt. He later committed suicide and his body was found at a recycling facility where he recently worked.

Police later said that Card suffered from mental illnesses. Maine Public Safety Commissioner Mike Sauschuck told the media that Card had reported been hearing voices and suffered from paranoia.

US Capitol Police did not find any active shooter in and around the Senate&nbsp;complex and surrounding premises after receiving "a 911 call",&nbsp;&nbsp;Washington Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Hugh Carew said and described the whole situation as a "bad call".

Carew added that neither was there any shooter nor were there any injuries.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On Wednesday afternoon (Aug 2), police said they were responding to reports of a possible active shooter&nbsp;around the Senate building. More than 50 police cars including DC police, Capitol Police, K9s, and many officers with long guns were deployed to the US Capitol Russell Building.&nbsp;

"A call came in for an active shooter. It appears to be a bad call. No injuries and no shooter were located," Carew said.

NBC News, quoting two police officers, reported that the law enforcement officials have locked down and evacuated the Russell Building Senate Office and blocked access to the underground tunnels leading to the Senate office buildings from the main Capitol building.&nbsp;

An email was sent out to congressional staff warning people to take shelter in their office or the nearest one and to take emergency equipment and visitors. It told people to close, lock and stay away from external doors and windows and to find a place to hide or seek cover if they are in a public space, according to NBC News.&nbsp;

"If you are inside the Senate Buildings, everyone inside should be sheltering in place as the report was for a possible active shooter. It should be noted that we do not have any confirmed reports of gunshots," the US&nbsp;Capitol Police said in a post on social media.

Though most lawmakers are not at the Capitol presently since the Senate is in recess, staff members still come to their offices.

&nbsp;A Senate staffer told Reuters news agency that while the Capitol building itself was not on the highest level of lockdown, police advised all workers there to remain in their offices.

The tragic shooting resulted in the killing of six innocents, a nine-year-old Evelyn Dieckhaus, 61-year-old member of the facilities/kitchen staff Mike Hill, 60-year-old head of the school Katherine Koonce, 61-year-old substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, nine-year-old daughter of a pastor Hallie Scruggs and nine-year-old William Kinney.

Nashville school shooter sent a cryptic warning text to ex-classmate, it only makes sense now

A 69-year-old was arrested for killing three and injuring four at a Kurdish cultural centre in central Paris. Though ruled as a terrorist plot, the attack is being viewed with possible racist underpinnings.

French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin told journalists at the scene, “He (the suspect) clearly wanted to take it out on foreigners.”

“For now, no elements can allow us to know if the attack is specifically targeting Kurdish people,” he added.

The attacker, identified as "William M" by French media, is a retired train driver and has a criminal record with a history of racist violence and weapons offences.

Last year, he was arrested for stabbing at least two migrants with a sword in a Paris&nbsp;camp, police and judicial sources told AFP.

In June 2016, he was involved in armed violence and was subsequently convicted by a court in the northeastern suburb of Seine-Saint.

Prosecutor Laure Beccuau informed that Friday’s attack was motivated by racism and the investigations will be undertaken with that aspect.

Meanwhile, questions are being raised against the French authorities as to why the suspect, who has a history of violence, was let out on parole.

The opposition parties are accusing President Emmanuel Macron of failing to take far-right threats seriously enough.

"The far-right appears to have struck again. With deadly consequences," senior hard-left MP Clementine Autain wrote on Twitter. "When will those at the head of the state start taking this terror threat seriously?"

According to media reports, the suspect was released from custody on December 12, while pending trial waits over the migrant tent attack.

The attacker’s family who spoke to the M6 TV channel described him as a |crazy, idiot”.

Abhinav Bindra created history when he became the first-ever Indian to win an individual gold medal at the Olympics in 2008. The chilling scene played out even as lawmakers in Washington were debating the latest attempt at gun control legislation that has stalled in Congress for months.

Terrified students described barricading themselves into classrooms while others fled as word rapidly spread of the unidentified Asian boy opening fire with a .45 calibre semiautomatic.

"Detectives reviewed the video at the scene, which clearly show the subject in the quad withdraw a handgun from his backpack, shoot and wound five people, and then shoot himself in the head," homicide captain Kent Wegener told a news conference.

The teen was found among the wounded by first responders, said Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva.&nbsp;

No motive has yet been established, but a message reading "Saugus, have fun at school tomorrow" had been posted on "what we believe to be the subject's Instagram account," Wegener confirmed.

It was removed by another person following the incident, he added.

The FBI said there was no sign of an ideological motive or any co-conspirators.

The dead were a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy. The other three wounded, one boy and two girls,&nbsp;were aged between 14 and 15.

The shooting at the school of 2,300 students was first reported shortly after 7:30 am&nbsp;(1530 GMT).&nbsp;

The school,&nbsp;65 kilometres&nbsp;north of Los Angeles,&nbsp;was locked down, and witness descriptions and surveillance footage identified the suspect within an hour of the shooting.

Officers went to his home and his mother and girlfriend were at a local police station speaking with detectives.

'My heart sank'

Seventeen-year-old student Andrei Mojica was in his government class when someone burst in and said there was a shooter on campus.

"That's when my heart sank," he told the Los Angeles Times.

The class of around 30 students followed their emergency drills and began barricading the doors with desks and tables, before waiting in silence, ready to wield a fire extinguisher as a weapon.

"We had no clue whether the shooter was on the opposite side of campus or right outside our door," he told the newspaper. "That fear made it feel like we were waiting in silence forever."

Finally, they were escorted from the classroom by a SWAT team.

A tearful mother waiting beside a nearby church with other parents said she had dropped off her ninth-grader about a minute before the shooting started.

"I haven't seen my son yet but I've talked to him. He's okay ... He just sounded numb," she told an NBC affiliate.

"All he's said is he was walking through the quad and somebody started shooting and he turned and he saw that it was real and ran into a classroom," she added.

Students told CNN they had heard multiple loud bangs that "sounded like fireworks" and began to run.

Twenty-four ambulances, seven paramedic units and a helicopter were at the school campus, opposite a residential area, along with dozens of squad cars.

Agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as well as firefighters, were among those responding.

Gun debate

The incident is the latest of more than 40 shootings at US schools since as recently as May 2018, when a 17-year-old killed 10 people, eight of the students, in Santa Fe, Texas.

Authorities said his shotgun and revolver were legally owned by his father.

Three months earlier a 19-year-old expelled from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida returned and opened fire, killing 14 students and three staff members.

There is roughly one school shooting a week in the United States, according to Everytown for Gun Safety.

President Donald Trump tweeted that his staff "continue to monitor the terrible events," adding his "deepest condolences to the families and friends of those tragically lost."

The perennial hot-button issue of arms control threatens to spill into next year's election.

"Every day, our children and our communities are forced to endure horrendous acts of violence and bloodshed, while Republicans continue to obstruct meaningful, bipartisan solutions to end the epidemic of gun violence," said Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic speaker of the House of Representatives.

"I'm deeply appreciative of law enforcement's quick response to the shooting at the yoga facility in Tallahassee today. No act of gun violence is acceptable. I'm in close communication with law enforcement officials and will be returning to Tallahassee tonight," Gillum tweeted.

Gunman Robert Bowers only needed 20 minutes to sow terror at the Tree of Life synagogue in the US city of Pittsburgh, where congregants had gathered peacefully for Shabbat services marking a day of rest.

Shortly before 10 am (1400 GMT) the 46-year-old Bowers -- who had penned virulent anti-Semitic messages on social networks -- burst into the synagogue armed with an assault rifle and three handguns.

Stephen Weiss, a member of the congregation who was inside the building, told the Tribune-Review newspaper he heard dozens of shots coming from the front lobby.

"We had services going on in the chapel when we heard a loud noise in the lobby area," he said. "I recognized it as gunshots."

Like any other Saturday, people from three different congregations were scattered throughout rooms in the building, located in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood that is historically the heart of Jewish life in greater Pittsburgh.

Bowers entered a room where a baby-naming ceremony was taking place. He rained bullets, killing 11 people, all of them adults.

As he attempted to leave the synagogue, he found himself face-to-face with a uniformed officer calling for reinforcement.

He barricaded himself on the building's third floor and was taken into custody after a shootout with police.

Twenty minutes after his first shot, Bowers surrendered to officers. He was hospitalized with multiple injuries but authorities said he was in "fine" condition.

Young shooting sensation Mehuli Ghosh won a silver medal in the 10m air rifle event at the Commonwealth Games. In an exclusive interview with WION.com, Mehuli said, "I don't remember when was the last time I went to school."

With a smile on her face, she also said, "I am missing those (school) days but I wanted this life. I wanted&nbsp;to take part in all these competitions and I wanted all these things to happen."&nbsp;She further&nbsp;added that sports and&nbsp;success at the&nbsp;CWG has changed her life being a teenager.

Mehuli&nbsp;told WION.com about her preparations for CWG. She said,&nbsp;"It's about mental, technical and physical strength, so you have to work on these three things." She clearly mentioned that the performance is mainly depended on the mental, technical and physical strength of the athlete.

She also added, "I just go there to give my best and what I will get from there I don't think that." 17-year old shooting star&nbsp;feels, "It's about putting in the hard work and not thinking about the medals."

Another shooter, Heena Sidhu became the first Indian double medalist at the Commonwealth Games. She clinched gold in the women's 25m pistol (with a CWG record 38) and silver in the 10m air pistol. In an exclusive interaction with WION.com, she told about her ambition&nbsp;to take on world champions in the future events.

Heena said that practice and hard work&nbsp;are the most necessary elements&nbsp;before entering such big events. She further added, "We realise our mistakes from every match and we work on it and we hope that in next match we will be able to deliver better results."

Heena revealed her plans to take on the world champions and said she is "working on it," she further added, "It is about how you are improving every day, and if you are improving every day it means you are on the right track."

She also mentioned, "With all these medals we now feel confident in going into an important year with ASIAN games and World Championship."

Confident double medallist Heena said, "We have learned a lot of lessons, we have done few things right and few things wrong and as an athlete, we know where we went wrong."

&nbsp;26-year-old Shreyasi shot 96 in the finals to&nbsp;beat Australia's Emma Cox 2 shots to 1 in the shoot-off at Belmont Shooting Centre.&nbsp;The other Indian contender in the field, Varsha Varman finished fourth with 86.

Shreyasi helped India bag its 12th gold medal at the CWG.

The bronze medal went to Scotland's Linda Pearson who shot 87 to finish a point ahead of Varsha, who held the third place for a while.

Shreyasi improved on her silver medal-winning effort at the Glasgow Games four years ago.

"I'm feeling really well. In 2014, I won the silver and I was really upset that I couldn't win the gold but now, also I was trailing, but when I got the opportunity to fight more and fight harder in the shoot off, I was really happy about that, and I gave it 100 per cent," Shreyasi said after her gold medal-winning effort.

"Emma (COX, AUS) is of course a brilliant competitor to be winning the gold medal against, so lots of wishes to her. She shot really well, too. But I think god is on my side and I'm feeling really lucky," India's golden girl said.&nbsp;

Earlier today,&nbsp;Indian shooter Om Prakash Mitharval bagged a bronze medal in men's 5m pistol.&nbsp;Mitharval&nbsp;scored a total of 201.1 in the finals to clinch the third place in the event.

On Tuesday, Heena Sidhu had bagged gold in the women's 25m air pistol event as she broke the Commonwealth Games record by posting 38 points in the 25m category.

The other Indian contender in the field, Varsha Varman finished fourth with 86. Shreyasi helped India bag its 12th gold medal at the CWG. In 2014, I won the silver and I was really upset that I couldn't win the gold but now, also I was trailing, but when I got the opportunity to fight more and fight harder in the shoot off, I was really happy about that, and I gave it 100 per cent," Shreyasi said after her gold medal-winning effort. "Emma (COX, AUS) is of course a brilliant competitor to be winning the gold medal against, so lots of wishes to her. She shot really well, too. A former US Marine sergeant who served in Iraq and made the dean&#39;s list in college has been identified as the gunman who killed three police officers and wounded three others in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Sunday, according to a government source with knowledge of the investigation. 
 
The suspect, Gavin Eugene Long, 29, was from Kansas City, Missouri, another source familiar with the investigation told Reuters. Divorced and living in a working-class neighborhood, Missouri records show he had no criminal history. 
 
It was not immediately clear how Long, who was an African-American, ended up in Baton Rouge, where police killed him in a shootout on his 29th birthday, according to media reports. The city has become a flashpoint for protests after police shot and killed Alton Sterling, another African-American, outside a convenience store there on July 5. 
 
A website, social media accounts and YouTube videos that appear tied to Long include complaints about police abuse of African-Americans and indicate he recently joined demonstrations in Dallas, where a former member of the US army reserve, also an African-American, killed five officers two days after Sterling&#39;s death. 
 
&ldquo;Violence is not THE answer (its a answer), but at what point do you stand up so that your people dont become the Native Americans...EXTINCT?&rdquo; Long tweeted on Wednesday. 
 
A website named &ldquo;convoswithcosmo&rdquo; that features self-help, health and relationship advice was owned by a Gavin Long at a Kansas City address, according to online records. As of Sunday night, police in Kansas City had cordoned off the block where that address is located. That address also appears in local court records for a Gavin Long in two separate civil cases. 
 
In a YouTube video posted on July 10, the host of &ldquo;Convos with Cosmos&rdquo; says he is in Dallas and had gone to the city to join protests there. The man says that African-Americans are oppressed and questions why white American revolutionaries are praised for fighting their oppressors but African ones are not. 
 
Later in the video, he suggests that only violence and financial pressure will cause change. 
 
&ldquo;We know what it&rsquo;s going to take. It&rsquo;s only fighting back or money. That&rsquo;s all they care about,&rdquo; he says to the camera. &ldquo;Revenue and blood, revenue and blood, revenue and blood. Nothing else.&rdquo; 
 
A government source said federal officials were reviewing the web postings but could not definitively link them to Long.

Long was affiliated with the anti-government New Freedom Group, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a person briefed on the investigation. A spokeswoman for the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks extremist groups, said she had no information about such a group.

Records provided by the US Marines show Long received a number of awards during his five years in the military, including a good conduct medal. 
 
He served in the Marines from August 2005 to August 2010, and rose to the rank of sergeant, according to Yvonne Carlock, deputy public affairs officer for the US Marines. Long was deployed to Iraq from June 2008 to January 2009. 
 
CBS News reported that he left the Marines with an honorable discharge, but Carlock would not confirm that detail. 
 
Public records show Long had lived in Kansas City and Grandview, Missouri, as well as San Diego and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. 
 
He divorced his wife in 2011, with no children at the time, according to Missouri court records. A home that appears to be the last-known address for his ex-wife was vacant on Sunday. 
 
No relatives for Long could be reached by phone. 
 
Long was a defendant in a case involving delinquent city taxes that was filed in March and dismissed in June, according to court records.
