Tunda, aged 81, is the main accused behind the serial blasts on five trains in different cities - Lucknow, Kanpur, Hyderabad, Surat and Mumbai -&nbsp;that were carried out on the first anniversary of the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition.

He was designated as the mastermind behind the attack by the the probe agancy Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The blasts had claimed the lives of two and had left several injured.

The 81-year-old is also a reportedly a close aide of wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.

Assembly Secretary Mahaveer Prasad Sharma said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Chunnilal Garasiya and Madan Rathore were also elected unopposed to the Upper House from the state.&nbsp;

The officer said that as no other candidates were contesting, the three leaders were elected to Rajya Sabha unopposed. The tenure of Rajya Sabha members Manmohan Singh (Congress) and Bhupendra Yadav (BJP) is ending on April 3.&nbsp;

The third seat fell vacant after the BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena resigned from the House in December after being elected MLA. &nbsp;

From Gujarat, BJP president JP Nadda and three other party candidates were declared elected to Rajya Sabha unopposed.&nbsp;

There were four vacant Rajya Sabha seats in the state and as many candidates, all of the ruling BJP had filed their nomination papers.&nbsp;

Returning Officer Reeta Mehta declared all four BJP candidates elected unopposed as no other candidates had filed nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections from Gujarat on four vacant seats.&nbsp;

A teenage girl preparing for the competitive Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) died by suicide on Monday (Jan 29) in India's Kota city.

She left behind a note to her parents saying she was sorry, calling herself a “loser”.

“Mummy, papa I can't do JEE. So I suicide,” the note scribbled in English said, according to police.

“I am a loser. I am worst daughter. Sorry mummy papa. Yahi last option he (this is the last option),” the note found in Niharika Singh's room added.&nbsp;

She was reportedly due to appear for the examination in a day or two.

This is the second suicide case reported in less than a week's time in Rajasthan's Kota, which is also known as the coaching hub of the country.

The incident was reported on the very day Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his annual interaction with the students preparing for their school board examinations, advised the students and their parents to not let the stress of the competition get to them.

Niharika, who lived in Shiv Vihar Colony in the city's Borekheda police station area at her family residence, was to appear for her JEE test on January 30 or 31, said circle officer DSP Dharmveer Singh.

She, according to the police, was the eldest of three sisters and her father is a security guard at a private bank in Kota.

As per news agency PTI reports, the deceased's cousin said that Niharika, who had repeated her 12th standard due to low scores, was under immense pressure for the upcoming JEE exam. However, she devoted nearly seven or eight hours to her studies every day.

Niharika's grandmother raised an alarm after she got no response knocking at the door of the 18-year-old's room.

She was found hanging from the ventilation window above the door when her family forced open the room.

In 2023, nearly 26 students allegedly committed suicide in Rajasthan's Kota where children come from different parts of the country to prepare for competitive exams like the National Entrance Exam (JEE) for admission to top engineering colleges.

Just a few days ago, in a similar tragic incident, 19-year-old Mohammed Zaid, who was found hanging in his hostel room in Kota, had allegedly died of suicide.

Two new Indian Chief Ministers were sworn in today in different ceremonies. The Bharatiya Janata Party won state assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The chief ministers of MP and Chhattisgarh were sworn in today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present in both ceremonies. Around the same time, two other individuals, a man and a woman, were detained outside parliament.

"Bhajanlal Sharma has been elected as the leader of the Rajasthan BJP Legislature Party. There will be two Deputy CMs- Diya Singh and Dr Prem Chand Bairwa. Vasudev Devnani to be the Speaker," Singh said.

Sharma, after being appointed, asserted that the state government would ensure the holistic development of Rajasthan in the coming years.

"I would like to assure you that all the MLAs of Rajasthan will definitely meet the expectations that the people have with us, with the BJP. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, we will ensure holistic development of Rajasthan in all areas," he said on Tuesday.

Rajasthan BJP leader Dr Kirodi Lal Meena said that he was delighted that Vasundhara Raje proposed Sharma's name and expressed confidence in the CM designate saying that he would take the state ahead.

"I am very happy. He will take the state ahead. His name was proposed by Vasundhara ji and I forwarded the name...I am not in line for a ministerial post," he added.

<h2>The race for CM heats up</h2>

Several BJP MPs who contested the assembly elections this time tendered their resignation and met PM Modi. Among these leaders are Rajyavardhan Rathore, Narendra Tomar, Prahlad Patel, Riti Pathak, Uday Pratap Singh, Kirodi Lal Meena and Diya Kumari.

This indicates these leaders' willingness to return to state politics and potentially put their hats in the ring for the post of chief minister.

Another name that has been thrown in the mix is that of 40-year-old Mahant Balaknath. He is from the Nath community just like Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. They claimed that it was not a show of strength.

Mishra has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT), to be headed by Additional Director General (Crime) Dinesh MN, to probe the killing while a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to the arrest of the two accused was also announced. However, Karni Sena, in its eight-point charter of demands has asked the investigation to be handed over to the NIA. They are also demanding lifetime high security be granted to Gogamedi’s family by the government. Family members should be immediately issued an arms license. During the bandh, both Congress and BJP sparred over the responsibility of the crime. The state of Rajasthan recently held assembly elections where the BJP has replaced the Congress. According to the initial police version, Gogamedi was sitting in his home at around 1:45 pm when two men opened fire at him. The CCTV footage showed the assailants sitting on a couch in front of Gogamedi before opening fire. While multiple shots were pumped into the Karni Sena chief, his bodyguard and a hawker from the area were also injured. Gangster Rohit Godara, belonging to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for Gogamedi’s killing in a Facebook post. The two shooters have been identified as Rohit Rathore Makrana and Nitin Fauji, as the police remain on the lookout. The Karni Sena is a form of pressure group based in Rajasthan which attempts to espouse the interest of Rajputs. In recent years, the group and its affiliate subsidiaries have come under controversy for protesting against movies that seemingly target the community or show them in a bad light.
