<p>The 31-year-old winger missed PSG’s league opener against Lorient on Saturday due to a viral infection and was on the bench alongside star striker Kylian Mbappe and midfielder Marco Verratti.</p>

<p>At PSG, Neymar scored 118 goals in 173 appearances, winning several trophies, including five Ligue 1&nbsp;titles but failed to put his hands on the coveted Champions League trophy, which he last won with FC Barcelona in 2015.</p>

<p>"It is always difficult to say goodbye to an amazing player like Neymar, one of the best players in the world," said PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi in a statement from the French champions.</p>

<p>"I will never forget the day he arrived at Paris Saint-Germain and what he has contributed to our club and our project over the last six years. We had a great moment, and Neymar will always be a big part of our history," he added.</p>

<p>Although Neymar’s transfer from PSG to Al Hilal is now sealed, the Saudi Pro League tried luring the world cup winners for France and Argentina, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, respectively, to join their club this&nbsp;summer.</p>

<p>Though Messi decided against heading to Saudi, where his long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo now plies his trade (for Al Nassr), and instead joined Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer (MLS), Nasser Al-Khelaifi and PSG agreed to a multi-million deal for Mbappe (worth around 330 million Euros), only for Mbappe to give it a thumbs down and stay at PSG for this season.</p>

<p>Much like Mbappe, Neymar was also contracted till 2025 and was close to joining his former club FC Barcelona on a loan deal, which didn't materialise.</p>

Mbappe will be a free agent in 2024 which will see him sign for any club in the world, leaving PSG with a big loss on their investment made in 2017. <p>Spanish top flight LaLiga has filed a complaint with the European Commission against Paris St Germain's "spending commissions", alleging the Qatari-backed French club are distorting markets through subsidies from the Gulf state.</p>

<p>The practices have allowed PSG, owned by Qatar Sports Investments since 2011, to sign top players and coaches "well above its potential in a normal market situation", LaLiga alleges in the complaint filed on Saturday.</p>

<p>The league said in a statement that "PSG has received foreign subsidies from the State of Qatar, which has allowed it to improve its competitive position, thus generating significant distortions in several national and EU markets".</p>

<p>Mbappe has been taking part in the club's pre-season preparations and played the last 30 minutes as PSG entertained Le Havre in a training-ground friendly on Friday, scoring a goal.</p>

<p>Mbappe declared in May that he would not extend his PSG contract, which expires next year, but indicated he wanted to remain at the club for a final season.</p>

<p>"I still have a year left on my contract and I am going to honour my contract," he said.</p>

<p>PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi reacted by saying earlier this month that Mbappe "must sign a new contract".</p>

<p>"We can't let the best player in the world today leave for free. It's impossible," Khelaifi said.</p>

<p>Khelaifi even gave Mbappe an ultimatum of a "maximum two weeks" to make his decision: sign a new contract or leave this summer. That date corresponds roughly with the departure of the team for Japan.</p>

<p>If Mbappe refuses to sign, the club must sell him in this transfer window, otherwise they will likely lose him for nothing when his deal ends after next season.</p>

<h2>- Madrid bound? -</h2>

<p>The 24-year-old was expected to leave a year ago for Real Madrid when his previous contract came to an end, only to agree a new deal to remain in Paris. That was a two-year contract with the option of a third season which would take him to 2025, which the player has said he would not take up, even if he has indicated his intention to see out his existing deal.</p>

<p>Having missed out on his signature a year ago, Real would again be chief among his suitors. They are in the market for a new striker after reigning Ballon d'Or Karim Benzema ended his 14-year stay in the Spanish capital, opting to move to Saudi Arabia.</p>

<p>Recently named as the new France captain, Mbappe was still a teenager when he joined PSG on a season-long loan from Monaco in August 2017, just after helping the principality club win the Ligue 1 title. The move turned into a permanent transfer the following year in a 180-million-euro ($196m) deal.</p>

<p>He helped France to World Cup glory in 2018 and has established himself as arguably the leading forward on the global stage.</p>

<p>Mbappe also scored a hat-trick in France's 2022 World Cup final defeat to Lionel Messi's Argentina before helping PSG win a record 11th French title.</p>

<p>Speaking to Spanish radio Cadena SER, Laporta said that the club owes only salary to Messi which is being paid as agreed with the previous board of the club.</p>

<p>“[Do] we owe any money to Messi? The only thing we owe are the salary deferrals that were agreed with the previous board of the club. This is producing pending payments that will come to an end in 2025. We are paying everything religiously,” Laporta said.</p>

Football: Lionel Messi still gets paid by Barcelona and will continue to do so for two more years. Here's why

<p>French police raided the home of Paris Saint-Germain boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi on Wednesday in an investigation into a man's claims of detention and torture in Qatar, a source close to the case told AFP.</p>

<p>Franco-Algerian Tayeb Benabderrahmane, 42, filed a complaint in January saying he was arrested in January 2020 in Qatar, where he had recently moved to work as a lobbyist.</p>

<p>Benabderrahmane said he was held for six months and questioned by local police, particularly about documents they believed he held that could prove compromising for Al-Khelaifi, a Qatari national.</p>

<p>Initially released to house arrest, he claims he was finally allowed to leave Qatar in November 2020 after signing a non-disclosure agreement covering the documents.</p>

<p>A note from France's DGSI domestic intelligence service suggests that the documents could include intimate videos of Al-Khelaifi with a woman.</p>

<p>Conversations between Al-Khelaifi, a former FIFA secretary-general and Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, saved in an old smartphone of his, might also touch on how the Gulf monarchy secured the 2022 World Cup and the allocation of TV rights to the competition, the DGSI note says.</p>

<p>Benabderrahmane is himself the subject of a separate investigation over allegations of blackmailing Al-Khelaifi.</p>

<p>Organised crime investigators last week raided the town hall of Paris's seventh district, run by former government minister Rachida Dati, as well as several lawyers' offices in relation to the probe.</p>

<p>Benabderrahmane claims Dati made a show of helping to secure his release while trying to cover up the detention on behalf of the Qataris.</p>

<p>People close to Dati meanwhile have described the lobbyist as a "master blackmailer".</p>

<p>Al-Khelaifi's lawyers said in April that they would file a defamation suit of their own against Benabderrahmane.</p>

Benabderrahmane said he was held for six months and questioned by local police, particularly about documents they believed he held that could prove compromising for Al-Khelaifi, a Qatari national. Initially released to house arrest, he claims he was finally allowed to leave Qatar in November 2020 after signing a non-disclosure agreement covering the documents. A note from France's DGSI domestic intelligence service suggests that the documents could include intimate videos of Al-Khelaifi with a woman. Conversations between Al-Khelaifi, a former FIFA secretary-general and Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, saved in an old smartphone of his, might also touch on how the Gulf monarchy secured the 2022 World Cup and the allocation of TV rights to the competition, the DGSI note says. Benabderrahmane is himself the subject of a separate investigation over allegations of blackmailing Al-Khelaifi. <p>Luis Enrique was appointed as the new coach of Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday on a two-year deal, but his unveiling was overshadowed by ongoing questions about the future of Kylian Mbappe.</p>

<p>The 53-year-old former Barcelona coach, who had been a free agent since being sacked by Spain last December, replaces Christophe Galtier after his departure was confirmed earlier in the day.</p>

<p>Luis Enrique was unveiled at a press conference alongside the Qatar-backed club's president Nasser al-Khelaifi at their new training complex in Poissy, north-west of the French capital.</p>

<p>"I'm delighted to be joining Paris in order to enjoy a new experience,"&nbsp;Luis Enrique said in a club statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It's so exciting to meet new people, to live in this city, to learn a new language and, above all, to manage PSG."</p>

<p>Yet when asked whether he had been given any guarantees that superstar forward Mbappe would remain at the club for the coming campaign, he was evasive.</p>

<p>The Spaniard later insisted he was "counting on all the players who are under contract".</p>

<p>However, Khelaifi stated that Mbappe, 24, "must sign a new contract" if he wants to remain at PSG in the coming season.</p>

<p>"The position is very clear. If Kylian wants to stay, he must sign a new contract. We can't let the best player in the world today leave for free. It's impossible," Khelaifi said.</p>

<p>"He said he would not leave for free. If somebody has changed his mind, that is not my fault."</p>

<p>Mbappe declared last month that he would not extend his contract, which expires next year.</p>

<p>The club must therefore sell the player in the current transfer window, otherwise they will likely lose him for nothing when his deal ends.</p>

<p>Real Madrid hoped to sign Mbappe a year ago before he penned a new contract in Paris. The Spanish giants are favourites to secure the striker if he does eventually change clubs.</p>

<p>The new coach is the eighth man to lead the club since the transformative Qatari takeover of 2011 and, like those before him, will be charged with bringing them the success in the Champions League that has so far proved elusive.</p>

<p>PSG have never won Europe's most prestigious club competition, coming closest when they lost in the 2020 final to Bayern Munich.</p>

<p>They have gone out in the last 16 in five of the last seven seasons, losing to Bayern at that stage in the most recent campaign. That defeat proved costly for Galtier.</p>

<h2>Good news for Neymar?</h2>

<p>Luis Enrique arrives with pedigree in the Champions League, having won it as coach of Barcelona in 2015 with a brilliant team led by an attack of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.</p>

<p>He now joins a club beginning their latest rebuild following the departure of Messi after his two-year stay.</p>

<p>The identity of the new coach could be good news for Neymar, who has been linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes.</p>

<p>The Brazilian enjoyed three outstanding years under Luis Enrique at the Camp Nou, in which time Barca won La Liga twice, the Copa del Rey three times, a UEFA Super Cup and a Club World Cup as well as the Champions League.</p>

<p>Several high-profile new signings are expected to be confirmed as PSG prepare to start pre-season training, with a tour to Japan scheduled for later this month.</p>

<p>Paris will begin their defence of the Ligue 1 title against Lorient on the weekend of August 12 and 13.</p>

<p>Luis Enrique left Barca in 2017 and became Spain coach in 2018. However, he quit in June 2019 and announced the death of his nine-year-old daughter from bone cancer two months later.</p>

<p>He returned to the Spain post in November of that year and took them to the Euro 2020 semi-finals and the 2021 UEFA Nations League final before being fired after their elimination from last year's World Cup in the last 16 in a penalty shoot-out against Morocco.</p>

<p>Galtier had only been in charge for one season and still had a year to run on his contract, but his departure had been expected.</p>

<p>He led PSG to the league title but that success was overshadowed by their exit from the Champions League.</p>

<p>The final weeks of Galtier's reign were also marred by accusations that he made racist remarks about players during his previous job at Nice.</p>

<p>He has vehemently denied the accusations but will stand trial in the case in December.</p>

<p>Galtier took over as the manager of PSG in July 2022, having succeeded Mauricio Pochettino at the helm. He came with a successful CV on his account having led Lille to Ligue 1 title in 2020-21 while his Nice side finished runners-up in the Coupe de France before he made his switch to PSG.</p>

<p>The pair of father and son was summoned by the investigating authority for accusations of racism in the top tier of the French capital. According to French jurisdictions, detainers cannot be kept in custody for more than 24 hours which could see the PSG coach either get arrested or get released. The matter could be brought into the courts in the next few hours as the police try to tighten their grip against the 56-year-old.</p>

<p>As per French newspaper L'Equipe's claim the pair are facing accusations of racism from ex-Nice Sporting Director Julien Fournier. It is also understood that Galtier has denied all accusations against him and has filed a countercase against the ex-Nice Sporting Director.</p>
