King Charles III on Monday (Dec 25) delivered his second Christmas message, focusing on&nbsp;environment&nbsp;and peace. In his message, delivered from Buckingham Palace's Centre Room, the king spoke of care and compassion shown to others, whilst talking about the planet and how the people were responsible for it.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"To care for this creation is a responsibility owned by people of all faiths and of none," said the king who recently addressed the COP28 UN climate summit in Dubai.&nbsp;

"We care for the earth for the sake of our children's children," he added.&nbsp;

The king also reflected on his coronation that took place in May and said he and Queen Camilla were&nbsp;"delighted" by the presence of hundreds of NHS, social care and other key workers at Westminster Abbey.&nbsp;

Clips of him, Camilla, Prince William, the Princess of Wales, and their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte were played taking part in various community projects, including one organised by the Scouts and the Coronation Food Project.

"Throughout the year, my family have witnessed how people of all ages are making a difference to their communities," the king said.

He has brought a case against the British government at the High Court in London after his UK taxpayer-funded protection was removed.

A hearing has been taking place since Tuesday, with only the opening and closing sessions open to the media and public for security reasons.

On Thursday, his lawyer Shaheed Fatima said Harry did not accept that he chose to stop being a "full-time working member of the royal family".

Fatima read his written statement to the court, which said, "It was with great sadness for both of us that my wife and I felt forced to step back from this role and leave the country in 2020.

"The UK is my home. The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live at the moment in the US.&nbsp;

"That cannot happen if it's not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil.

"I cannot put my wife in danger like that and, given my experiences in life, I am reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm's way too."

 
Harry's lawyers have argued that the decision to change his security arrangements came after his departure from the UK. They termed the move as "unlawful and unfair" considering his royal status and his mother Princess Diana's death.

She was killed in a high-speed car crash in Paris in 1997 as she tried to escape paparazzi photographers.

Meanwhile, lawyers for the government reject that he was "singled out" and treated "less favourably" or that a proper risk analysis was not carried out.

A judgment in the case -- one of five involving Harry at the High Court -- will be given at a later date.

Publisher Associated Newspapers (ANL) had sought at hearings in March to have the case thrown out, saying the claims that were brought in October 2022 were outside a six-year time limit for legal action.

Harry, the younger son of King Charles, Elton John, and the other five claimants accuse ANL, which publishes the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday, of phone-hacking and other serious privacy breaches dating back 30 years. ANL has always denied involvement in unlawful practices.

However, Nicklin ruled the seven claimants could not rely on ledgers recording payments by ANL to private investigators, which were disclosed to a public inquiry into press standards which began in 2011, without first getting the permission of British government ministers.

A subsequent hearing will be held on Nov. 21 to consider the outcome of the ruling.

PUBLIC INQUIRY

During the preliminary hearings, some of which&nbsp;Harry&nbsp;and John attended, the claimants' lawyer David Sherborne said his clients had been put "off the scent" by unequivocal denials made at the 2011 public inquiry by top executives from Associated.

In their submissions, the prince and the others detailed a series of alleged unlawful activities by Mail journalists or 19 private investigators working for them from 1993 to 2011 and beyond, ranging from tapping their phones and bugging their homes, to obtaining medical records by deception.

Associated's lawyer said the publisher rejected the claims "in their entirety".

Phone hacking first came to public knowledge in 2006, when the royal correspondent and a private investigator working for a Sunday tabloid owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Group Newspapers (NGN) were arrested and later convicted of accessing voicemails on the mobile phones of royal aides.

Britain's Prince Harry can proceed with some of his lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch’s UK newspaper arm but his allegations of phone hacking were made too late, London’s High Court ruled on Thursday. 
 
Harry is suing Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers (NGN) over multiple acts of wrongdoing he says were committed on behalf of its tabloids, the Sun and the now-defunct News of the World, from the mid-1990s until 2016. 
 
NGN had argued during hearings in April that the claims should be struck out because they fell outside the six-year time limit for legal action to have been brought. 
 
On Thursday, Mr Justice Fancourt ruled in favour of the argument by NGN that the Duke was aware enough of the phone hacking scandal to bring his case sooner. 
 
The Duke’s claims of voicemail interception and phone hacking at the Sun and the now-defunct News of the World will therefore not be brought to trial. NGN described the court's ruling as a “significant victory”. 
 
Harry will be allowed to proceed on some of his claims about other unlawful activities by NGN against him, including the alleged use of private investigators and blagging.&nbsp; 
 
A spokesperson for the Murdoch-owned publisher told the Telegraph that the ruling “substantially reduces the scope of (the Duke’s) legal claim."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been threatened with defamation by YouTuber Shallon Lester. The royal couple's documentary, released last year, claimed that a majority of the negative comments posted against them were from select few accounts and Lester's image was shown as an example of one of those accounts. Lester has made several videos discussing Harry and Meghan's relationship in the past.&nbsp; 
 
However, in a new video she shared earlier this week, she raised objections over the usage of her image.

"Believe me when I say I’m pursuing every opportunity – my lawyer's gonna be mad at me – to nail their a-- to the wall for this," she declared in the video. "It's defamation, it’s slander, it’s a mischaracterisation. And you know what else it is? Misinformation." 
 
She went on to say, "Meghan and Harry can't seem to accept the plain truth: people don't like them. They don't like them on a micro level, people like me, where I'm like, ‘I can see what a s---ty a--- person you are, Meghan. I can see how manipulative you are.’"

While addressing Markle, Lester said, "And truly if you wanted to make content, bro, do it about that. Prince Harry accused a tabloid publisher of "industrial scale" phone hacking as he wrapped up almost eight hours of court testimony on Wednesday, becoming the first British royal in over a century to take to the witness stand.

The younger son of King Charles III appeared emotional as he came to the end of his two days' cross-examination by a lawyer for Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), which publishes The Mirror, Sunday Mirror and the Sunday People. 
 
"It's a lot," the 38-year-old prince replied in a barely audible voice after his own lawyer David Sherborne asked him how having to relive upsetting episodes of his life in court had made him feel.

Harry and several other claimants allege the titles engaged in "illegal information gathering", including intercepting phone voicemails, to write dozens of stories about him.

"I believe phone hacking was at an industrial scale across at least three of its (MGN's) papers and that is beyond doubt," Harry said under renewed questioning by MGN lawyer Andrew Green.

If that was not accepted by the court, he added, "I would feel some injustice".

Pressed on why he was singling out MGN, Harry said he believes alleged hacking elsewhere was on a lesser scale and that it "started at Mirror group".

He also revealed that part of the motivation for the lawsuit was a desire to do something about the "hate that was coming towards me and my wife" in recent years.

<h2>- 'All made sense' -</h2>

The last time a royal gave evidence in court was in the 1890s when the future king Edward VII took the stand in a slander trial.

Harry -- fifth in line to the throne -- has rarely been far from the headlines since quitting royal life in 2020 and relocating to California with his American wife Meghan. 
 
The Duke of Sussex, as he is also known, has launched legal action against several tabloid media groups, alongside barrages of attacks aimed at his family and the monarchy.

In a rarity for a British royal, who normally steer clear of politics, he also hit out at the government during Tuesday's proceedings.

In a lengthy written witness statement, the prince said media intrusion had blighted his life while claiming the state of both the press and government were "at rock bottom".

In the witness box and after swearing an oath on the Bible, Harry argued he had been the victim of relentless and distressing media intrusion virtually his entire life.

Some media had blood on their hands, he argued, and said stories written about him had made him paranoid and untrusting in friendships and relationships.

When the practice of phone-hacking came to light, "it all made sense", he told the court.

Harry described a sense of being besieged by the media during a trip to Argentina when "very aggressive paparazzi" surrounded the ranch where he was staying and local police said the only way to get rid of them would be to pay them off.

He said it became clear that it would be difficult to leave without being "chased or swarmed by these individuals".

<h2>- 'Land of speculation' -</h2>

MGN has admitted to "some evidence" of unlawful information gathering, including for a story about Harry.

But it has denied voicemail interception and also argued that some claims were brought too late by Harry and the other claimants.

In court, the prince faced questions about various aspects of the 33 tabloid stories being considered, covering everything from ex-girlfriends and rumours that army officer James Hewitt was his father, to royal family relations.

Harry admitted that he had no recollection of reading the majority of the articles, which date back over the last 20 years.

He has long had a turbulent relationship with the press and holds the media responsible for the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in a 1997 Paris car crash while being pursued by paparazzi.

Allegations that tabloid journalists hacked into celebrities' mobile phones first emerged two decades ago and prompted a public inquiry.

It found British newspapers had "wreaked havoc with the lives of innocent people", and led to the closure of Britain's top-selling newspaper, the Rupert Murdoch-owned News of the World in 2011.

"We, naturally, spoke about all types of personal matters, including all aspects of our relationship and this was often through voicemail. As my girlfriend, I trusted Chelsy with the most private of information and vice versa." 
 
Much of the case against Mirror Group Newspapers focusses on details he believed were leaked concerning his relationship with Davu. In his testimony, Harry claimed much of their private conversations throughout their relationship made their way to the newspaper. Harry said that such conversations were obtained via illicit means.&nbsp; 
 
Harry pointed out one article that alleged Davy gave him "a tongue-lashing down the phone" for flirting with another woman at a party. Harry said the details of their phone conversations weren’t attributed to sources. He also mentioned another article that described "an emotional phone call" involving Davy. 
 
Harry said private details about his vacations with Davy were also obtained by the press and recalled how journalists and photographers would arrive at their hotel off the coast of Mozambique before they did. 
 
"I don’t believe that my girlfriend would ever have spoken to a passenger on a plane about our relationship," Harry noted. 
 
"We could also never understand how private elements of our life together were finding their way into the tabloids, and so our circle of friends became smaller and smaller," said Harry. "I remember finding it very hard to trust anyone, which led to bouts of depression and paranoia."

Two branches of the DHS have previously declined to release the prince's immigration file without his consent.

Visa applicants to the United States are asked about their past drug use and can be barred from entry, although there are exceptions and waivers can be granted.

Judge Carl Nichols gave the DHS until June 13 to come up with a response to the records request.

UK: Prince Harry set for court appearance, expected to give evidence against Mirror group

Prince Harry is on Tuesday expected to take the witness stand in a London court as part of claims against a British tabloid publisher, the latest in his legal battles with the press.

King Charles III's younger son will become the first senior British royal to give evidence in court for more than a century when he testifies against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN).

He and various other high-profile claimants accuse it of unlawful activities, including phone hacking.

The case is one of several that the 38-year-old prince has brought against British newspaper groups since stepping down from frontline royal duties in early 2020 and eventually relocating to California with his American wife Meghan Markle. 
 
Harry's lawyer David Sherborne told London's High Court on Monday that the prince was targeted by illegal information-gathering even as a young schoolboy and his phone would have been hacked on "multiple occasions".

"No aspect of the young prince's life was safe" from press intrusion, he submitted.

Representing MGN, publisher of The Mirror and The Sunday People tabloids, barrister Andrew Green said there was "no evidence" that Harry's phone was tapped.

The prince had been expected to appear in the courtroom Monday but did not take part in the hearing because of flying to the UK late Sunday after celebrating his daughter Lilibet's second birthday, according to Sherborne.

The case against MGN centres on claims its tabloids conducted unlawful information-gathering to obtain stories about Harry and other claimants, including two TV soap opera actors and the ex-wife of a comedian. 
 
At the start of the trial on May 10, MGN apologised and admitted to "some evidence" of unlawful information-gathering, including for a story about Harry.

But it denied voicemail tapping and also argued that some claims had been brought too late.

Sherborne submitted that "industrial scale" illegal activities were happening at MGN and had been approved by senior executives.

Harry, who is fifth in line to the throne, has had a turbulent relationship with the press and holds the media responsible for the death of his mother Princess Diana, who died in a Paris car crash in 1997 while being pursued by paparazzi.

In television interviews and his explosive memoir "Spare" -- released in January -- Harry hit out at other royals, accusing them of colluding with the press.

In court filings unveiled in April, Harry claimed the royal family as an institution had struck a "secret agreement" with one UK publisher that had prevented him from suing, to avoid a royal entering the witness box.

He also alleged the monarchy wanted to prevent the opening of a "Pandora's Box" of negative coverage that could tarnish the royal brand.

The prince has vowed to spearhead efforts to enforce change on Britain's tabloid media, and the MGN trial is one of several ongoing legal battles he has launched against the press.

They include joint legal action against Associated Newspapers (ANL), publisher of the Daily Mail, over alleged breaches of privacy.

The California-based prince made a surprise appearance at the High Court in March to hear legal arguments in the case, but did not give in-person evidence.

His testimony on Tuesday will be the first time a senior royal has given evidence in court since Edward VII, who took the stand in an 1890 slander trial before becoming monarch.
