<p>Netflix India's, 'Home Stories' is a collection of four short films that give us a glimpse of the few complications that have arisen due to the lockdown. Full points on relatability here, as there are high chances that one of them might be your story or of someone close. This is also the first time we will be seeing narratives based on this year's coronavirus outbreak in Indian cinema.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Directed by four filmmakers- Sahirr Sethi, Anubhuti Kashyap, Tanvi Gandhi and Ashwin Laxmi Narayan, these short films have been written, shot and produced during the lockdown. Is there anything left which we Indians have not been able to accomplish in a work from home scenario? The viewers also get to see a behind-the-scenes towards the end of the anthology.</p>

<p>The first film titled 'Out With It', stars 'Made in Heaven' actor Arjun Mathur and dwells on the theme of mental health during the pandemic. The protagonist, Angad experiences anxiety and stress every time he decides to step outside the door. It's so extreme, that even to pick up the carton of eggs, he stops his breath first or tries to drag it with a long stick. In the midst of this, there is an anonymous voice that encourages him to step out, socialise and reunite with his friends and family. But, everyday Angad puts on his clothes, repeats "I will go out today," but ultimately sticks to his daily plan of staying under house arrest. It's ironic that when he finally gets the courage to step into the outside world, the country itself comes under lockdown. The whole film is carried by this one actor, who with very few dialogues, manages to speak volumes through his expressions.</p>

<p>'Will You Be My Quarantine?'&nbsp;is the second film and revolves around a couple that is forced to live under lockdown together. Vaishnavi (Saba Azad) and Rehaan's (Imaad Shah) one-night stand gets converted to a 3 weeks standoff after the Prime Minister's announcement of a nationwide lockdown. Irritated and frustrated with each other, they initially start off by playing a game of cat and mouse. But, over the course of a few days or actually arguments they develop a soft corner for each other. While Vaishnavi helps out by giving Rehaan her laptop during a work crisis, Rehaan plans her an impromptu birthday party. This unlikely duo, make the best of the situation and ultimately become good friends.&nbsp;We also get to see a small cameo by Little Things actors&nbsp;Mithila Palkar and Dhruv Sehgal.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>'Delivering Smiles'&nbsp;was the most heartwarming story in this anthology. It tries to convey an important message of being empathetic towards delivery executives. This is the story of Prakash (Tanmay Dhanania) who records his entire day as he goes around the city doing his daily job in the middle of the lockdown. While we sit safely in our houses, the delivery executives make sure we get all our necessities and cravings by risking their own lives. The short film shows the kind of customers a delivery guy like Prakash would meet during the coronavirus lockdown. From an over paranoid customer who treats the delivery executive with disrespect to an old lady who offers him a glass of water, Prakash meets a variety of people. His optimism is a force to reckon with, as whatever life throws at him, he simply smiles and says "have a good day, have a good life!" Tanmay Dhanania's acting is on point and he fits into the character of Prakash effortlessly.</p>

<p>'Web Ne Bana Di Jodi' shows the journey of Ashu (Veer Rajwant Singh) and Jia (Apoorva Arora), who had to settle for an online Shaadi. After a disastrous Haldi ceremony conducted on a video call, Jia receives flak from her father, who always envisioned a grand wedding for his daughter. He even threatens not to attend the rest of the ceremonies. However, the couple's positive attitude and love for each other prevails as they not only conduct a 'viral' sangeet, but are also able to persuade Jia's father to attend the wedding. If you or any of your close ones are set to be married during the lockdown, watch this film for an idea of what a roller coaster ride it will be!</p>

<p>From predicting if the Prime Minister&nbsp;will end the lockdown in the next speech to the time when we were told to go on balconies and bang utensils to show our support to corona warriors, these memorable moments have been captured well through these films. You will get a sense of deja vu for sure! All four films have an interesting storyline, and each portrays their themes beautifully.</p>

<p>Opening the set, Dave said, “It’s hard to figure out what to say about George Floyd, so I’m not going to say it yet. I got to tell you, this is like the first concert in North American since all this s— happened, so like it or not, it’s history. It’s going to be in the books.”</p>

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Courthouse News reports that Baskin`s Big Cat Rescue successfully proved to a U.S. District judge in Oklahoma City that Exotic (real name Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage) fraudulently transferred the zoo properties to his mother Shirley M. Schreibvogel in 2011 in order to keep the properties out of the reach of creditors if he lost his long-running legal battles with the Florida-based animal sanctuary.<br />

Exotic, in 2013 was ordered to pay Big Cat Rescue nearly 1 million USD to resolve a two-year-old trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, which was featured in the Netflix docuseries, involved Exotic`s use of logos and images that were very similar to those created and owned by Big Cat Rescue. In 2016, Big Cat Rescue sued Exotic`s mother as they claimed that the fraudulent transfer of the property was also featured in the docuseries.<br />

The complaint stated, "Schreibvogel later admitted under oath that the zoo land was transferred to her by Joe Maldonado to remove it from the reach of creditors, including BCR, should BCR win its Florida lawsuit. Schreibvogel also admitted in 2015, via a confession of judgment she entered into to resolve a lawsuit filed against he by the Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee overseeing Joe Maldonado`s personal bankruptcy estate, that the zoo land was fraudulently transferred to her by Joe Maldonado in 2011 to avoid his creditors."<br />

With a production budget of only $8,000, Njagu said he used his personal relationships with the cast and crew to sign deferred contracts and to bring on board studio owners and equipment hire companies without making an immediate payment.</p>

He would not say how much the Netflix deal was worth but that it was enough to pay the deferred expenses and make a profit.<br />

The film creators are now in talks with Netflix about possible future productions while television stations in Europe, Africa, the United States also want to air Cook-Off.<br />

"It's a different story, it's no longer deferred payments, it`s now commissioned work, it's now getting budgets to do productions," he said. "We can`t fall short anymore. This is the world stage."</p>

<p>For Priyanshu Painyuli, who featured in Chris Hemsworth's ‘Extraction’, the biggest challenge was speaking in Bengali in an English film. Priyanshu played Asif, a Bangladeshi drug lord in the film. He is the main antagonist who is responsible to bringing Taylor (Hemsworth) to Dhaka on a mission to extract a boy who has been kidnapped by Priyanshu’s men.</p>

<p>The actor can be seen speaking in only in Bengali throughout the film. “The most challenging and interesting thing about playing this Bangladeshi guy was to speak in Bengali,” admits Priyanshu in a chat with WION.</p>

<p>The film, which was exclusively made for Netflix, has got a great response from the audience and is the biggest film for the OTT platform.</p>

<p>With a cast comprising of Hemsworth, Randeep Hooda, and Pankaj Tripathi, Priyanshu was rather an uncanny choice to play an antagonist. “I used to joke around with Sam (Hargrave, the director of the film) on the sets that you have made me the villain but I am not part of any fight sequence,” Priyanshu recalls. Instead, he played a calm, quiet yet menacing Asif who controlled almost the entire city from his fortress.</p>

<p>A ‘pahadi’ from Dehradun who has spent his growing up years in Bengaluru, Priyanshu was offered the role because the casting director thought he was a Bengali because of his first name. “The casting director called me and straight away asked if I could speak in Bengali?” says the actor.</p>

<p>With a little help from his friends including actress Ronjini Chakraborty, Priyanshu recorded a few lines in Bangla and sent casting director Tess Joseph audio clips to convince her that he could do the part. Another round of audition soon followed and Priyanshu eventually landed the role. But the actor had to be tutored in the local dialect of Dhaka which is strikingly different from the Bengali language that is common in India.</p>

<p>“They got a Bangladeshi filmmaker on board called Rafael. He was from Dhaka, he trained us in the language 2 months before the shoot. All of us had to go through training, were tutored for two months to look and behave like locals of Dhaka. They kept the language authentic,” said Priyanshu.</p>

<p>In fact, ‘Extraction’ is perhaps one of the rare Hollywood films that had actors speaking multiple languages instead of English throughout. “If you see the portions in Mumbai- the characters are speaking Hindi, people in Bangladesh speaking the local language then Chris is speaking in English. Most of English films have even Asians speaking in English, they will throw in local words in between but here they have the characterization very authentic,” Priyanshu pointed out.</p>

<p>Describing his character Aamir Asif in ‘Extraction’ as a “prince”, the actor says that while he was given a clear brief by his director about his role, he also created a perception of the character and his background while preparing for the film. “Sam and I discussed that this guy has got this business from family. He has inherited it and its father’s business that he is now taking care of. Which is why you see him giving life lessons to people.. something that he has picked up from his father, he has the prince demeanor. I purposely did not want to make him shout or show off his power through his body language, because when you are a king, you don’t have to prove it to the world. That makes the character of Aamir interesting. He orders, commands, gives life lessons. He is very clear. He is dangerous, cunning but calm.”</p>

But that didn’t happen at all. When I first met him, he was so calm and it was just like meeting any other co-actor or a friend. He has got a very Australian vibe that makes you feel very comfortable around him,” the actor said.</p>

<p>Priyanshu made his film debut in 'Love at First Sight' in 2016 but his breakout performance came in 2017 in Vikramaditya Motwane’s ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’- a film that did not create much noise when it was released in theatres but traveled far and wide after its digital release. The actor feels the avenues have opened up for more content with the popularity of OTT platforms in India. But he confesses he is a cinema lover. “I have to watch a film every week on the big screen. I have learnt filmmaking, so cinema will always be fascinating for me.”</p>

<p>The actor has a strong background in theatre for years and has also made short films and says theatre will always be his first love.”There’s a different high performing in front of live audience and see their reactions,” the actor says candidly.</p>

<p>Having worked in Indian films and now in Hollywood- does he feel the working environment is different in two industries? “In Hollywood, they are very particular about time. Also, Indian sets are noisy,” laughs Priyanshu and adds, “Culturally we Indians talk loudly. But on their sets, everyone is always softly speaking.”&nbsp; The actor though admits that in India things have evolved over the years and that now most films are time-bound and stick to the script and technically at par with Hollywood.</p>

<p>Chris Hemsworth's latest film 'Extraction' is a treat for those who love the action genre. High on stunts, the film’s action sequences are brutal, hardcore and in plenty, so much so that the story becomes secondary. Directed by Sam Hargrave who was the stunt director of 'Avengers: Endgame', ‘Extraction’ is nearly a two-hour film of a man trying to rescue a teenage boy from a local Drug lord in Dhaka and his army of men.<br />
<br />
Hemsworth plays Tyler, who is given the job to extract Ovi Mahajan (newcomer Rudraksh Jaiswal) son of Mumbai based drug lord (Pankaj Tripathi) from Dhaka. Ovi has been kidnapped and taken hostage by the local ‘Pablo Escobar’ of the area, Asif (Priyanshu Painyuli) and held captive in a dilapidated house in the outskirts of Dhaka.<br />
<br />
Tyler with the help of Nik (Golshifteh Farahani) and team, tracks Ovi down and is almost about to finish the extraction and the take the boy home when the team advises him to abort the mission as someone has gone rogue in the middle. Meanwhile, Saju (Randeep Hooda) who works for Ovi's father is also on the lookout for the boy which leads to clashes with Tyler. As Tyler and Ovi run around the bustling streets of Dhaka, they have Saju and nearly the entire city police looking for them.</p>

<p>Elaborate and unending action sequences, lots of car chases, hand-to-hand combat and men and children wielding bazookas freely forms rest of the film’s story. The entire film is just that, of men flexing muscles, fighting with each other and Hemsworth turning into a one-man army trying to save the boy from getting killed.<br />
<br />
The screenplay written by Joe Russo gives backstories to only three characters that too very sketchy ones. Tyler - an ex Australian mercenary who is yet to come to terms with his young son’s death, Saju- for whom his family holds utmost importance and Ovi, the neglected boy of a mafia lord who develops a fondness for Tyler. The backstories are merely mentioned in a scene or two, they are not very deftly written neither do they add much to the narrative. On the contrary that one scene where Tyler narrates his past to Ovi- in a tender moment of bonding- is one the slowest portions of the film.<br />
<br />
While the film is based in Dhaka, it has been shot in Mumbai, Ahmadabad and Thailand. Of course, the sub-continent in Hollywood is always shown in a certain way. The stories always tend to glamorize the chaos and poverty of the third world. This film is no different. The only portions that are shown in the film are the seedy by-lanes of a very dusty city where people stay in cramped houses with Bollywood music blaring out of them. So typical, no?</p>

The film gives more importance to the action sequences than the story. It is also important to note that it takes a white man to come and rescue a boy in India even as the local guardian(who probably knows the area better than Tyler) plays a second fiddle in the story.</p>

<p>The film, though has to be given credit for not just the action sequences but also for using some local languages like Hindi and Bengali when needed. Instead of making the Indian actors speak in accented English, the director keeps the authenticity intact by making them speak the local language. In one scene even Hemsworth speaks a few words in Bangla!<br />

Shot by Newton Thomas Sigel the scenes give an immersive feeling that make you feel the punches and blows in many cases.<br />

Randeep Hooda, Pankaj Tripathi are let down by poor screenplay. It is a Hemsworth show all the way - who is also one of the co-producers of the film. Hemsworth literally plays a modern version of one his best onscreen characters Thor- but minus the sass. Hemsworth is glum and only knows the language of violence in this film. The only guy who matches Hemsworth's overpowering screen presence is actor Rudraksh Jaiswal who delivers a confident performance as the lonely Ovi. Painyuli shows spark in the limited screen space he has. He adapts the local Dhaka style of Bengali well.<br />
<br />
'Extraction' is technically a very sound film. Slick action, good looking actors fighting it out and some mean stunts. If heavy-duty action thrillers are something that suits your palate, 'Extraction' is an good option. Don’t go by the story so much though.</p>

<p>The world’s largest streaming service gained 15.8 million paying customers from January through March, bringing its global total to 182.9 million. Netflix had predicted it would add 7 million during the period.</p>

<p>The company warned that it expected fewer new subscribers from July to December compared with a year earlier, however. Many people who would have joined then are likely to have already signed up, executives said.</p>

<p>“We expect viewing to decline and membership growth to decelerate as home confinement ends,” Netflix said in a letter to shareholders.</p>

In the video, other production staff of `Extraction` and Randeep`s Hollywood co-star Chris Hemsworth are seen talking about India and how different the feeling was to shoot in the country.<br />

The video begins with the `Thor` actor saying, "Here we are, in India, in the sets of our movie for Netflix."<br />

"Aesthetically this film is so vibrant and full of movements," he added, while an action sequence from the movie is played alongside.<br />
<br />
The director of the film, Sam Hargrave, said, "We started the day by doing the traditional Indian blessings," followed by a clip where the filmmaker is doing pooja and breaking a coconut.<br />

<p>Netflix docu-drama 'Tiger King,' the compelling true crime series set in the world of private zoos and their eccentric owners, is getting the comic book treatment.<br />

Tidalwave Productions said on Tuesday it has added the story to its Infamous series of pop culture comic books after the Netflix television series became a worldwide phenomenon.<br />

"You can`t make this stuff up," said Michael Frizell, who will write the book to be published in June in both print and digital editions.<br />

"I never imagined I`d be researching a book like this. It was a challenge to find a focus for the comic because there`s so much happening," Frizell said in a statement.<br />

"Tiger King," the extraordinary tale of flamboyant Oklahoma zoo keeper Joe Exotic, his rivalry with Florida big cat rescue activist Carole Baskin and his imprisonment for hiring a hitman to try to kill her, was watched by some 34.3 million viewers in the first 10 days after it was released on Netflix on March 20, according to Nielsen data.<br />

Tiger King`s immense popularity coincided with Americans settling into stay-at-home mode to help slow the spread of the coronavirus during which television viewership has soared.<br />
<br />
The series has already spawned a follow-up episode from celebrity website TMZ, and plans for two more series, including a possible movie version.<br />

Publisher Darren G. Davis said the comic book was "fun and a good distraction" from the coronavirus epidemic that has upended life for millions of people and killed more than 124,000 people globally.<br />

<p>For the first time, Bollywood actors Jacqueline Fernandez and Manoj Bajpayee are collaborating on a project and will be seen in a Netflix film, ‘Mrs Serial Killer’.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a video message, announcing the premiere date for ‘Mrs Serial Killer’, Manoj and Jacqueline shared features on Netflix’s Instagram page.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the starting of the video, Manoj Bajpayee can be seen talking to Jacqueline Fernandez who is standing in front of a mirror, trying on different gowns.</p>

<p>When she is seen asking for his opinion, Manoj looks confused as he asks why is she doing that and where is she going during the lockdown? She then tells him that there is a world premiere for which she is doing fittings, to which he asks, “which premiere?” Jacqueline then gets shocked and he says he doesn’t know anything about one, which irks Jaqueline.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She then threatens him using a dialogue from Manoj’s film ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’: “Keh Ke Loongi” as Manoj bursts out laughing and reveals that she is talking about the world premiere of ‘Mrs Serial Killer’.&nbsp;</p>

<p>‘Mrs Serial Killer’ will premiere on May 1. It stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Manoj Bajpayee and Mohit Raina in leading roles and is about a woman who becomes a serial killer to save her husband, who is in jail.&nbsp;</p>

He, alongwith his family, actor Deepak Dobriyal and the crew of the film had to stay back in Ramgarh, Uttarakhand, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown in March.</p>

In the starting of the video, Manoj Bajpayee can be seen talking to Jacqueline Fernandez who is standing in front of a mirror, trying on different gowns. When she is seen asking for his opinion, Manoj looks confused as he asks why is she doing that and where is she going during the lockdown? She then tells him that there is a world premiere for which she is doing fittings, to which he asks, “which premiere?” Jacqueline then gets shocked and he says he doesn’t know anything about one, which irks Jaqueline. She then threatens him using a dialogue from Manoj’s film ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’: “Keh Ke Loongi” as Manoj bursts out laughing and reveals that she is talking about the world premiere of ‘Mrs Serial Killer’. <p>The first look of Indian actor Priyanshu Painyuli from Neflix film 'Extraction' is finally out.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film was origially titled Dhaka but wwas later changed. The film stars Chris Hemsworth in a leading role. It is backed&nbsp;by Russo Brothers with Sam Hargrave at the helm of it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film stars a bevy of well known Bollywood actors including Randeep Hooda, Pankaj Tripathi and Priyanshu Painyuli amongst others.</p>

<p>Priyanshu plays the role of a mafia in the film.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In his first look, that we've laid our hands-on, Priyanshu dons a unique stylish gangsta look. The character wears heavy chunky gold jewelry much like the gang lords of Dhaka do. He is seen donning gold neckpieces, armlets and bracelets in the film. He was required to wear a lot of local fabrics including kurtas and silken shirts which are characteristic of Bangladeshi locals. There are deep-hued monotones used to dress him.</p>

<p>On the same,&nbsp;Priyanshu said, "I have always felt the way you dress up as a character makes you behave in a certain way. For me, mainly my shoes matter a lot, what footwear I use to walk or sit changes my body language a bit. Even in 'Extraction' When Sam, my director, asked me How did I feel with my costume and look? I smiled and said I am really enjoying the gold but I especially loved my shoes, shiny, pointed with hard heels, which makes a presence when I walk, at least to me."</p>

The film stars Chris Hemsworth in a leading role. It is backed by Russo Brothers with Sam Hargrave at the helm of it. The film stars a bevy of well known Bollywood actors including Randeep Hooda, Pankaj Tripathi and Priyanshu Painyuli amongst others. Priyanshu plays the role of a mafia in the film. In his first look, that we've laid our hands-on, Priyanshu dons a unique stylish gangsta look. The character wears heavy chunky gold jewelry much like the gang lords of Dhaka do. He is seen donning gold neckpieces, armlets and bracelets in the film. He was required to wear a lot of local fabrics including kurtas and silken shirts which are characteristic of Bangladeshi locals. There are deep-hued monotones used to dress him. On the same, Priyanshu said, "I have always felt the way you dress up as a character makes you behave in a certain way. For me, mainly my shoes matter a lot, what footwear I use to walk or sit changes my body language a bit. Even in 'Extraction' When Sam, my director, asked me How did I feel with my costume and look? I smiled and said I am really enjoying the gold but I especially loved my shoes, shiny, pointed with hard heels, which makes a presence when I walk, at least to me."
