United enjoyed a late comeback win over local rivals Manchester City only to then slump to a 3-0 loss at home to Bournemouth last weekend following a midweek 4-3 League Cup quarter-final defeat by Tottenham.
Rashford was omitted from all three of those games, with the 27-year-old, a product of the United youth system, now looking increasingly likely to leave Old Trafford.
The struggling England international fuelled speculation about his own future by saying he was "ready for a new challenge" in a midweek interview.
But Amorim, speaking ahead of the Boxing Day match away to Wolves, said nothing had changed from his point of view.
"Normal situation," he said. "When I feel that it's the right moment I will change something. Until then I will continue to think what is the best for the team.
"I speak with him (Rashford) every day. Not about the interview, about the performance."
Amorim added Rashford "wants to play, he is trying" but "it's my decision, only my decision".
"I spoke with a lot of players -- individually, during training -- so I'm trying to do things... I am doing things my way," the Portuguese boss said. "And it's the only way I know.
"If I don't do that I will lose myself and I will not lose myself. I know what I'm doing."
Amorim questioned the "choices" of people surrounding Rashford after omitting him from the Bournemouth match, when Gary Neville said the forward leaving felt like an "inevitable ending".
The former United captain also called it a "distraction for the manager" -- something Amorim denied Tuesday.
"No, I don't think so," he said. "Not for me, not for the other players because everybody is there every day during training, so they understand and that is the key point.
"For the media and for the other people, I cannot control that.
"But I'm really focused and they know, I'm so clear in my message, everybody in Carrington know what I'm talking about and what I want from Marcus and everybody else.
"So, it's not a distraction for us. Maybe it's for the media but that is not my concern."

Amorim, asked what more he would like to see from Rashford, replied: "Like any other player, the best that they can be.
"If you have big talents, big performance, big responsibility, big engagement, like push forward everybody in this moment. And some guys have a big responsibility here because they are here for a long time."

The illegal immigrant from Guatemala who has been accused of torching a sleeping woman on a Brooklyn subway two days back had been deported back to his home country in June 2018, but he re-entered the United States (US) at some point, American media reported late Monday (Dec 23).
The migrant was identified as 33-year-old Sebastian Zapeta. He was arrested on murder and arson charges in the woman’s death but is yet to appear in front of a judge.
The attack happened on Sunday morning on a stationary F train at the Coney Island station in Brooklyn. 
Authorities say Zapeta approached the woman, who was sitting motionless in the train car and may have been sleeping, and used a lighter to set her clothing on fire.

American media reported that Zapeta was nabbed at the border in Arizona on June 1, 2018, and deported back home a week later. However, he re-entered the US illegally at some point.

A 39-year-old software engineer became a victim of a "digital arrest" scam and lost Rs 11.8 crore ($1.3 million) when fraudsters impersonating police officials claimed that his Aadhaar card was being misused to open bank accounts for money laundering, police said on Monday.
The fraud occurred between November 25 and December 12, they said.
According to police, in his complaint, the victim alleged that on November 11, he received a call from a person who claimed to be an officer of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The alleged officer claimed that his SIM card, which was linked to the Aadhaar card, was used for illegal advertisements and harassing messages.
The fraudster further alleged that a case was registered in connection with this in Mumbai's Colaba Cyber Police Station.

Later, he got a call from a person claiming to be a police officer, alleging that his Aadhaar details were being misused to open bank accounts for money laundering, the FIR stated.
The fraudster warned him to keep the matter confidential and also allegedly threatened him that if he did not cooperate with the virtual investigation, he would be physically arrested.
Then, he also got a call from a person asking him to download the Skype app, following which a man dressed in a Mumbai Police uniform video-called him and claimed that a businessman had opened a bank account using his Aadhaar to conduct transactions worth Rs 6 crore, the FIR further stated.
On November 25, another man in police uniform called him over Skype and alleged that his case was being heard in the top court and threatened to arrest his family if he did not comply, according to the complainant.

NORAD’s Santa Tracker: A holiday tradition that brings the world closer

The Central government's air quality monitoring panel on Tuesday revoked Stage IV ('Severe+') measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) following an improvement in air quality.
However, actions under Stages I, II, and III will remain in force to prevent any further deterioration of air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) announced on December 24.
The decision comes after Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) improved to 369 ('Very Poor') at 4 PM on December 24, down from a peak of 401 ('Severe') recorded on December 16.
The improvement in air quality was attributed to favourable meteorological conditions, including improved wind speed, according to forecasts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM).

In line with the Supreme Court's directives, Stage IV measures were initially invoked when AQI levels breached the 400 mark on December 16. The measures were aimed at curbing severe pollution levels and included restrictions on industrial activities, construction, and entry of non-essential trucks into Delhi.
The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is a set of emergency measures implemented in Delhi-NCR to tackle air pollution based on the severity of the Air Quality Index (AQI).
The centre's air quality panel stressed the importance of continued vigilance. "Actions under Stage I, II, and III of the revised GRAP shall remain invoked and be implemented, monitored, and reviewed by all the agencies concerned in the entire NCR to ensure that the AQI levels do not slip further," the commission said in its order.

Citizens were also urged to adhere to guidelines under Stage III. "Keeping in view the winter season, when weather conditions may not always be favourable, and to ensure that AQI levels do not slip further, citizens are requested to strictly adhere to the Citizen Charter under GRAP-III," the commission added.

Israel, however, intercepted the missile fired by the Houthi group, but sirens wailed in Tel Aviv and other parts of central Israel in the morning.
The Israeli military said the missile had been successfully intercepted outside of its territory, adding that there were no reports of casualties. 
“Just as we took care of Sinwar in Gaza, Haniyeh in Tehran, and Nasrallah in Beirut, we will deal with the heads of the Houthis in Sana’a or anywhere in Yemen,” Katz said, referring to the leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah.

American Airlines on Tuesday (Dec 24) lifted an hour-long ground stop of all its flights during the busy holiday travel period in the US due to an unspecified technical issue.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) briefly issued a nationwide ground stop for all American Airlines flights on the morning of Christmas Eve after the airline reported that a "technical issue" was affecting flights.
"The ground stop has now been lifted," said Bridgett Frey, assistant administrator for communications at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in a statement.  
The FAA said the ground stop was issued at the request of the airline, on one of the busiest travel days of the year.

Sandro Salonski, a lawyer representing non-Indigenous individuals holding title to the area, told the British newspaper, "Discussing the demarcation of an area devoid of Indigenous population is entirely unjustifiable and is not provided for in our federal constitution.”

Brazil’s constitution allows Indigenous people to have exclusive rights on their lands. Salonski said the dead man was “the only survivor of the Tanaru people".

Visuals shared by the news agency ANI on Tuesday (Dec 24) showed a fight between the councillors of the BJP and the Congress over the Ambedkar row. The incident took place during the general house meeting of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.

Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, on Monday (Dec 23) pleaded not guilty to state murder and terror charges. Mangione, 26, was shackled and seated in a court in Manhattan when he leaned over to a microphone to enter his plea.
Last week, the Manhattan district attorney charged him with multiple counts of murder, including murder as an act of terrorism. Mangione's initial appearance in New York's state's trial court was preempted by federal prosecutors bringing their charges over Thompson's murder.
<h2>No family in court, but dozens of women wait to support Mangione</h2>
American media reported on Tuesday that while Mangione did not have family in the Manhattan court on Monday, about two dozen women attended the arraignment in the public section of the gallery, many of them voicing support for the 26-year-old man.
Speaking to ABC News, a woman said that she came to court as she believed that Mangione was bringing attention to the need for universal healthcare in the United States (US).

On Reddit, he repeatedly posted about his recovery and offered words of encouragement for people with similar conditions.

A 26-year-old woman, who also wished to remain unidentified, told ABC News that she related to Mangione after she fell off her parent's healthcare plan and couldn't afford COBRA coverage.

The driver of the Jaipur LPG tanker that exploded, killing 13 people, managed to survive the accident. The deadly accident in which the tanker collided with a truck and exploded, triggered a massive fire, engulfing over 30 vehicles. 
The driver, Jaiveer, however, did not sustain any severe injury. 
Jaiveer, 40, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, sensed that the collision had damaged the nozzle of the tanker, following which he escaped before the fire started. 
<h2>How did he survive the explosion?</h2>
The police said the driver realised that the nozzle of the tanker had been damaged and a fire would be triggered by the ignition of other vehicles. 
He then ran towards the opposite side of the LPG spill, saving his life.

"We cannot blame the tanker driver immediately, as the container truck driver had hit his vehicle. He saw that the tanker's nozzles had broken and realised that there could be an explosion as other drivers were turning on the ignition of their vehicles. So, he fled to save his life," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Amit Kumar told PTI.
The driver has appeared before the police and will be questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), a senior official said on Tuesday. 
However, the driver of the container truck, which collided with the tanker, died in the explosion. 
The DCP said Jaiveer was among the nine drivers present at the accident scene who managed to escape the fire, Indian news agency PTI reported.  In the deadly incident, more than two dozen people sustained injuries, and 23 are undergoing treatment. 
The police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, for rash and negligent driving, causing death by negligent act and causing hurt by endangering life.

Emergency services were reported on the scene, and the evacuated people were taken away from the tower. It is currently closed, and maintenance is underway with an investigation being carried out.

He further said that no visitors were put in danger. 
Just after the news came out, wild speculations flooded social media, with one X user writing, "A fire is currently raging at the Eiffel Tower. The monument has just been evacuated. An emergency response company has established a perimeter, but firefighters are unable to access the flames."

Ursa Major was reportedly in the same area where another Russian ship named Sparta was last week and ran into trouble. At the beginning of December, Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) reported that Sparta was seen heading to Russia's naval base on the Syrian coast at Tartous. The report said the ship was there to move military equipment out of Syria after the downfall of Bashar al-Assad.
Further on Monday (Dec 23), the HUR said that Sparta had broken down off Portugal, but the problem had been fixed. But since Ursa Major is also known as Sparta III, it was not clear which ship the agency was referring to. 
It is still unknown what caused the explosion in the Ursa Major while it was between Oran in Algeria and the Spanish town of Aguilas.

Boeing's quality improvement programs will continue as Doug Ackerman, vice president of supply chain and fabrication quality, takes her place.

On Wednesday (Dec 18), Trump had proposed that Canada should join the United States. “No one can answer why we subsidize Canada to the tune of over $100,000,000 a year? Makes no sense! Many Canadians want Canada to become the 51st State. They would save massively on taxes and military protection. I think it is a great idea. 51st State!!!”, he wrote on his social media.
His comments have sparked discussions, especially given the ongoing tensions over trade and tariffs between the US and Canada.

Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting says that India batter Shubman Gill 'needs to back his defensive technique' in order to get some runs in Australia. Ponting's comments come on the back of Gill's lackluster performance in the two Tests he has played in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series.
"I love watching him play. When you're watching him bat and bat well, he looks as good as anyone in world cricket,” Ponting said in the ICC Review. “But the numbers don't really stack up, do they, away from home?”

“Scott Boland was bowling and he changed his guard, he moved across to the off stump, presented his front pad to Boland, and Boland got him out with a full straight one.
"If anything, I think he needs to back himself a little bit more, needs to back his defensive technique a little bit more here in Australia and still find a way to be able to score and score quickly," added the former Aussie skipper.
Gill has scored only 60 runs so far in three innings he has batted in, with a highest score of 31.
India's performance with the bat has been sub par on the tour with only KL Rahul being consistent among the top seven batters. Rahul, who was slotted into the opener's slot due to skipper Rohit Sharma's absence from the first Test, has scored 235 runs in six innings with two fifties to his name.
