A missing US Navy sailor who was last seen leaving a pub the day after St Patrick's Day has been found dead in a harbour close to Lake Michigan.&nbsp;Officials announced that 21-year-old Seamus Gray, who disappeared last month and caused his mother Kerry to suffer for weeks, had been discovered near a lake in Waukegan, Illinois.

Rescue workers and Navy troops scoured the city in a desperate search while Kerry posted social media updates about her anguish.

Utility workers waved down police officers on Wednesday at around 7 p.m. when they were conducting a traffic stop close to the Waukegan Harbour, according to the police, reported the Daily Mail.

The ComEd workers reported what they thought to be a body in the water as they were performing normal maintenance close to the harbour.

The body was pulled onto the shore with assistance from the Waukegan Fire Department, and police chief Edgardo Navarro said it matched Gray's physical description.

According to WGN9, the body's clothing matched his description as well. It&nbsp;was later identified as being that of Gray by the Lake County coroner.&nbsp;

In the days that followed, lots of people spent hours searching the lakefront for Gray, including Waukegan and North Chicago police, firefighters, the Office of Naval Intelligence, water rescue teams, and about 100 Navy personnel.

In an effort to find her son, Gray's mother also made the trip to Waukegan from Florida.

On Waukegan's Genesee Street, detectives discovered security tape showing Grey leaving the Ibiza Bar.

He is seen exiting the bar alone in the footage while wearing a pink suit.&nbsp;

On March 18, about 1:40 am, he was last seen and last heard from at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Washington Street; he had not been seen or heard from since leaving the pub.

She added: 'As I type this I'm trying not to throw up. I cannot sleep, and will not sleep until I have answers as to where my son is, and what happened to him.'

In one social media post, Kerry wrote that she and a friend were taking part in the investigation and were searching dumpsters for her son's body.

'Tomorrow I have to do what no mother should ever have to do. I have to go on a foot search with the Police Department, Fire Department and many others who will join in to find my son Séamus Grays body,' she wrote on March 23.

Adkins said there was damage to Marvin’s bow and Curtis’ stern, making researchers wonder whether a collision contributed.&nbsp;

“One of the things that make us proud when we discover these things is helping piece the puzzle together of what happened to these 28 people,” Adkins added and pointed out that though it had been 109 years (since the incident), maybe there were still some family members that wanted to know what happened.

“Those are all questions we want to consider when we go back out this summer,” he said.&nbsp;

US: Michigan Researchers find shipwrecks from 1914 in Lake Superior

A new study has said that fish caught in two rivers of Michigan and tested for PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) contained the chemicals, and at levels that present a health risk for anyone eating them. According to the study done by the Ecology Center, Friends of the Rogue, and the Huron River Watershed Council, researchers collected more than 100 fish from 15 sites along the Huron and Rouge rivers.&nbsp;

A report by the Guardian on Friday (February 24) said that PFAS are a class of 12,000 compounds that are used to make products resistant to water, stains and heat. They are known as "forever chemicals"&nbsp;as they do not naturally break down and have been linked to serious health problems in humans such as cancer, high cholesterol, and liver and kidney disease.&nbsp;

The study said that researchers tested for 40 different PFAS chemicals from a variety of species including bluegill, pumpkinseed, rock bass, smallmouth bass, catfish, and river chub.&nbsp;

"In the case of the Huron River, a chrome plating facility that manufactures shiny coatings on car parts and other items discharged PFAS chemicals into the river. Four years later, the fish consumption advisory still stands in many parts of the river," the study said.&nbsp;

"During the project, the state of Michigan issued a fish consumption advisory for parts of the Rouge River after additional samples showed elevated levels in certain fish. Even with the Rouge’s long history of industry and pollution, there have always been anglers catching fish on the Rouge," it added.&nbsp;

The levels found in fish sampled from these rivers ranged from about 11,000 parts per trillion (ppt) to 180,000 ppt, and tests revealed 14 different kinds of PFAS compounds.

The results of the study showed that PFAs are there in every tested fish. "Fourteen different PFAS chemicals were detected in the study. Each fish tested had at least one of the 14 chemicals in its body," the study said.&nbsp;

Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), one kind of 14 PFAS chemicals, was found in every fish tested. "PFOS accounted for 58% (Huron) and 46% (Rouge) of the PFAS content of the fish," the study said.&nbsp;

Erica Bloom, one of the study's co-authors with the Ecology Center, said the findings are sad, according to the Guardian report on Friday. “It just demonstrates how ubiquitous these chemicals are in the environment,” Bloom said.&nbsp;

She pointed out that fishing in these rivers is an important part of life. "And we’re not out here to tell people to stop fishing – but if you’re fishing, here are some things to look out for," she added.&nbsp;

Bloom said it is up to state regulators to protect anglers, and results highlight how agencies are failing to keep pace with new science and regulations around PFAS.&nbsp;She also said it is unclear why state regulators have not updated their advisories, and that fish consumption levels in Michigan should be reviewed and lowered.

Prominent civil rights attorney Ben Crump welcomed the decision to charge Schurr with second-degree murder.&nbsp;

"While the road to justice for Patrick and his family has just begun, this decision is a crucial step in the right direction," Crump said. He was quoted by AFP.

"Officer Schurr must be held accountable for his decision to pursue an unarmed Patrick, ultimately shooting him in the back of the head and killing him -- for nothing more than a traffic stop."

Michigan: White policeman charged with murder of a Black man

Surveillance cameras have captured a 12-year-old boy robbing a gas station in the Hartford city&nbsp;of Michigan&nbsp;and firing a warning shot into the ceiling using his grandfather's gun, the Independent has reported&nbsp;quoting police.&nbsp;

The report added that the 12-year-old boy was deemed a public safety risk and has been arrested and placed in the Allegan County Juvenile Center.

The boy allegedly entered the gas station and stood in a queue behind other customers before taking out a&nbsp;9mm handgun from a&nbsp;black bag that he was carrying and pointing it in the direction of the clerk. The gas station's surveillance cameras&nbsp;captured the entirety of the actions involved in the armed robbery.&nbsp;

In the video, the clerk can be heard saying, "Are you serious?" when the gun is pointed, and a brief moment later, the boy is seen firing a gunshot towards the ceiling. The clerk is then seen handing over a bag of money across the counter.

According to the report, a 911 emergency call was made shortly after the boy left the premises, which was promptly responded to by the Hartford Police, who reached the gas station within 90 seconds.&nbsp;

The police reportedly found the boy a few blocks from the gas station behind some building;&nbsp;the&nbsp;report quoted&nbsp;the&nbsp;Hartford Police Chief Tressa Beltran.

The police have confirmed that the gun used in the armed robbery belonged to the boy's grandfather, his legal guardian. The boy stole the gun from his grandfather's safe, and the grandfather claimed that he was not aware that the boy could access his safe, the report quoted the Police.&nbsp;

As per a press release by the City of Grand Rapids while the circumstances that led to Lyoya being stopped are not clear, however, inspection since the shooting has cleared that his vehicle had a license plate that wasn’t registered to that particular vehicle.

The&nbsp;release goes on to say, “following a brief foot pursuit, a physical altercation between the officer and the driver took place that lasted for several minutes. During that altercation, the officer fired his weapon, striking the individual who died as a result of his injuries.”

The officer&nbsp;has not been named and is yet to be charged and is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.

A database by the Washington Post reveals that although these shootings do involve white victims too, black Americans who only account for 13 per cent of the US population are still shot disproportionately. Already this year, more than 250 people have been fatally shot by on-duty officers nationwide.

McDonald, the prosecutor in Oakland County, Michigan, has said that the drawing featured images of a gun, a person who had been shot, a laughing emoji and the words, “Blood everywhere,” and, “The thoughts won’t stop. Help me.”

The teacher, Throne said, notified school counselors and the dean of students. Crumbley was immediately removed from the classroom and taken to the guidance counselor’s office, where he claimed the drawing was part of a video game he was designing, Throne said.

According to the letter, the school had difficulty reaching Crumbley’s parents, and he remained in the office for an hour and a half before they arrived. During that time, school officials observed Crumbley and spoke with him.

After his parents arrived, school officials asked “specific probing questions” regarding Crumbley’s potential to harm others or himself, Throne said. Crumbley’s answers, which were confirmed by his parents, led counselors to conclude that he did not intend to hurt anyone, the superintendent said.

“At no time did counselors believe the student might harm others based on his behavior, responses and demeanor, which appeared calm,” wrote Throne, referring to both meetings.

Counseling was recommended for Crumbley, and his parents were told they had 48 hours to seek counseling for their child or the school would contact Children’s Protective Services, Throne wrote.

Gun control advocates have argued for more prosecutions of adults when their weapons fall into the hands of children, leading to suicides, accidental deaths or intentional school shootings. But legal experts say a patchwork of state laws — some stringent and some lax — regulating gun storage and children’s access to weapons can pose a hurdle to prosecutions.

Kris Brown, president of the gun control group Brady United, said that Michigan, unlike nearly 30 other states, did not have what was known as a child access prevention law requiring adults to keep any guns in their home out of the reach of children.

“The idea is that if you have a kid in the home, even if it is not your own kid, any firearm needs to be stored safely — which means unloaded, locked and separated from any ammunition,” Brown said.

States like California and New York set tougher safety standards for gun owners, while more gun-friendly states in the Southeast impose penalties only if a child actually obtains or fires a gun.

“Michigan doesn’t have a strong law or a weak law,” Brown said. “It has no law on this.”

Parents across the country have been charged with child abuse, violating gun laws and even negligent manslaughter after their young children accidentally shot themselves or other children. But gun control experts said McDonald’s move to charge the parents of a mass shooting suspect was almost unheard-of.

“I can’t think of a high-profile mass shooting where the parents were prosecuted,” said Allison Anderman, director of local policy at the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

In western Kentucky, there were calls three years ago to prosecute the stepfather of a 15-year-old school shooter after authorities learned the teenage gunman had obtained his stepfather’s handgun from an unlocked bedroom closet.

But the local prosecutor, Dennis Foust, decided he could not make a case against the stepfather. Kentucky law makes it a crime to “intentionally, knowingly or recklessly” provide a handgun to a minor — a high standard to prove. Foust said the stepfather did not know the gun was gone until questioned by investigators after the shooting.

“I’m a firm believer in gun responsibility, but we just didn’t see there was enough there,” he said.

Foust said that local law enforcement also opposed charging the stepfather with a crime and wanted to keep the focus of the prosecution squarely on the gunman, who is serving a life sentence after killing two classmates.

“There needs to be accountability,” Foust said. “But under our situation, we weren’t able to do that. I don’t know that society, at least here, would effect sufficient change to be able to prosecute a parent.”

Michigan shooting suspect’s parents charged with involuntary manslaughter

The 15-year-old student who opened fire at Oxford High School, in Michigan, on Tuesday will face charges of terrorism, first-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and possession of a firearm. The suspect, Ethan Crumbley, will be tried as an adult.&nbsp;

Currently detained in Oakland County Children’s Village, Crumbley will be facing one count of terrorism which caused death, four counts of first-degree murder for the four students who died due to gunshot wounds, seven counts of assault with intent to murder and 12 counts of possession of a firearm.&nbsp;

At 12:51 p.m. Tuesday, authorities received the first of more than 100 calls to 911 about the shooting.

When students at Oxford High School first heard the gunshots, they rushed for cover and used chairs to barricade themselves behind classroom doors. Within five minutes, authorities said, 11 people had been shot.

The gunman fired 15-20 shots with a semi-automatic handgun before being apprehended by deputies in the school hallway, authorities said. Seven bullets remained in the gun, the county sheriff, Michael Bouchard, said at a news briefing Tuesday night.

Had there been no intervention, Bouchard added, “we might be, if it’s possible, in a worse situation.”

What was the aftermath?

After the shooting, students said they fled from the building. Some parents rushed to a nearby grocery store to reunite with their children.

Officials across the country expressed shock and issued statements of sadness and frustration, as residents of Oakland County announced a vigil and prepared for funerals.

Democratic leaders renewed their calls for more to be done to reduce gun violence.

“No one should be afraid to go to school,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan said in a statement. Later, at a news conference, she added. “I think this is every parent’s worst nightmare.”

What do we know about the victims?

Authorities identified those killed as Hana St. Juliana, 14; Madisyn Baldwin, 17; and Tate Myre, 16, who died in a sheriff’s squad car while on the way to a hospital.

“There was no time to wait,” Bouchard said of the deputy who put Tate, who had been a football player, into his car.

Seven other injured students ranged in age from 14-17, officials said, including three who were in critical condition and another who was in serious condition.

Those in critical condition included a 15-year-old boy who had been shot in the head, a 17-year-old girl who had been hit in the chest and a 14-year-old girl who had been wounded in the chest and neck. She remained on a ventilator Tuesday night.

“It’s looking very tough for this young girl,” Bouchard said.

The only adult who was injured, an unidentified 47-year-old teacher, had been discharged from the hospital, he added.

What do we know about the suspect?

Few details are known about the arrested student, whom authorities have described as a sophomore at Oxford High School and a resident of the Village of Oxford, a community of about 3,500 people located in the center of the larger Oxford Township area.

After the suspect was apprehended, he declined to speak while in the presence of his parents, officials said. The family has hired an attorney, they added.

Officials have not identified a motive.

“The person that’s got the most insight into the motive is not talking,” Bouchard said at the news briefing.

He added that the 9 mm Sig Sauer handgun used in the shooting had been bought by the suspect’s father four days earlier. The gun had 15-round magazines, he said, two of which had so far been found at the school.

Authorities said that they did not believe that the student had planned the shooting with anyone else and that they were still investigating.

Mass shootings at schools have been a recurring tragedy in the United States. In 2018, a gunman killed 17 people and injured 17 others at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. That same year, a gunman killed 10 people at Santa Fe High School in Texas.

City Council also finds that ensuring that such products are readily available in public restrooms will help prevent the spread of germs, reduce the transmission of bloodborne pathogens, and improve the general public welfare," stated the authorities.&nbsp;

The ordinance will go into effect from January 1, 2022. Any sort of violation can result in a $100 fine.&nbsp;

Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor said, "It is a necessity and a long time coming." He added, "Access to these items is a matter of personal dignity, a human necessity and a health care right."

Taylor explained that the inspiration for this measure came after a young resident came to him with the idea. "A high school student came to me to express her concern that persons without established residences had difficulty obtaining menstrual products," he said.&nbsp;

He further explained how this got him into thinking over time. "And I asked staff to look and see whether we could obligate at all public restrooms in Ann Arbor provide the supplies because they're basic and fundamental for people," Taylor said.

"We can and we did," local media quoted him as saying.

Various other cities have similar measures. However, they just apply to municipal buildings or in schools.

Meanwhile, in February this year, the Scottish parliament advanced legislation that would ensure free universal access to tampons, pads and other menstrual products, in a huge stride for the global movement against period poverty.

Former Miss World Diana Hayden was the chief guest and chief judge for the pageant. There were 61 conntestants from 30 states participating in three different pageants - Miss India USA, Mrs India USA and Miss Teen India USA. The winners of all three categories get complimentary tickets to travel to Mumbai, India to take part in worldwide pageants.

Vaidehi Dongre, born in India and raised in America, was crowned Miss India USA 2021 over the weekend. Dongre is a business development manager with a company. The 25-year-old is a graduate from the Univeristy of Michigan.

This past year has been one of the toughest of my life as I am sure it has been for many others. All was well for Michigan homeowner David Olson (33) till he was renovating the porch of his house. As he demolished the concrete slabs, he saw a spherical shape protruding from the ground. As he told CNN, he was intrigued and brushed the soil off the sphere. And he found that it was bowling ball.

Olson dug further, he found about 15 bowling balls buried in the ground. The number kept on going up. And soon, Olson had to contend with the fact the someone had buried 158 bowling balls under his house.

As per the report by CNN. Some of the bowling balls had serial numbers on them.&nbsp;

Olson called up Brunswick Bowling Products, the manufacturer of the bowling balls as per the markings on the balls. The company confirmed that the material the balls were made up had not gone toxic.

It also turned out that the balls were buried in 1950, when Olson's house was built. But who buried them there and why? Nobody knows.

158 bowling balls is quite a big number for a household to use for recreational purpose. So the Olsons have decided that these balls would be used to up the decorative quotient of their home.
