<p>“I think we knew that they have a strategy where they bowl their spinners at the backend as well. So we needed to make sure that we had guys to take them on. Suryakumar Yadav was one of them. But initially it was a tough wicket. There was steep bounce, and there was little bit in it. We felt that we got stuck a little bit, and we were behind, and needed a par course," Jayawardene said at the post-match press conference.</p>

<p>"That was the plan in the 13th over, and I thought with the couple of big overs at the end, we got that par score, and we were in the game for pretty much all the way. In the past few games we’ve not ruthless enough to close games off," he added.</p>

<p>Reflecting on MI's journey ahead after a tough start, Jayawardene further opined, "It’s always tough when you have a start like this, but we need to look at the positives. We’ve been playing some really good cricket, but we’re not closing games off. All three games we were in it, but we’re not able to finish it off. <p>Ahead of the ICC Men`s T20 World Cup 2021 final between Australia and New Zealand, Janette Brittin, Mahela Jayawardene and Shaun Pollock have been announced as the newest inductees into the prestigious ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.</p>

<p>These legends will be formally inducted by fellow ICC Hall of Famer, Sir Clive Lloyd at the much-anticipated final between New Zealand and Australia on Sunday before the game gets underway at the Dubai International Stadium.</p>

<p>The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame recognises the achievements of the legends of the game from cricket's long and illustrious history. 106 players have been inducted since its launch in 2009, with Brittin, Jayawardena and Pollock as the latest inductees celebrated.</p>

<p>Mahela Jayawardene retired as one of Sri Lanka`s greatest ever players, a key member of the team that won the ICC Men`s T20 World Cup in 2014 and reached four other major ICC finals.</p>

<p>Whilst South Africa`s Shaun Pollock was one of the finest bowling all-rounders the game has ever seen and was the first player to achieve the 3,000 run and 300 wicket doubles in both Test and ODI cricket.</p>

<p>Mahela Jayawardene commented: "I am thrilled to have been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. It`s a very special honour to follow in the footsteps of legends Sanga and Murali from Sri Lanka and so many other great cricketers of the past."</p>

During a conversation with Star Sports before MI's match against Delhi Capitals, Pandya said, "Runs are important and especially when your team wins. It was important for my personal confidence but to score for the team was important. We have to assess the wicket and adapt on the given time."</p>

<p>He added, "The plans have to be simple and win over obstacles ball-by-ball. There's no option, but one thing is that these situations bring out the best in you. We realise it is a do-or-die game, but we are just focusing on the controllabes."</p>

In a pre-match press conference on Friday, Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene seemed apprehensive of him bowling sooner and said, "Hardik might struggle with the bat if he pushes too hard to bowl in the ongoing IPL. Notably, ever since Hardik underwent back surgery, he has not been bowling regularly."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Because he hasn't bowled since Sri Lanka, I think what we are trying to do is what's best for Hardik going forward. We are talking to Indian management, and make sure sooner he feels comfortable, we get him into his bowling programme and prepare him," Jayawardene further said.</p>

<p>A few days back, a new form was cricket was invented, Ice Cricket, where the game of cricket was played on a beautiful St Moritz frozen lake amid serene and beautiful Alps in freezing cold temperatures.</p>

<p>Virender Sehwag-led Diamonds faced Shahid Afridi-led Royals to play two T20 matches.</p>

<p>It was the biggest and best cricket clash, a match when fans got nostalgic after watching&nbsp;former cricket legends padded up one more time.</p>

<p>Afridi&#39;s team won the series though, 40-year-old Sehwag played exceptionally well in the first match.</p>
