"We needed somebody in our top six to go on and get us a big score. Salty batted beautifully, put the pressure on them," Livingstone said. "We were sloppy in the field but our bowlers did well, took wickets throughout.

"We have got a lot of young guys learning the ropes in international cricket, this will do them a world of good. Back in the series, looking forward to Barbados."

West Indies captain Hope, who bagged his 17th ODI century, said he felt his side had control.

"Personally, I thought it was a decent score, especially with the conditions, the outfield was heavy, the surface was up and down, but it was not enough," he said. Punjab, however, recovered well despite early wickets and posted a competitive total of 187/5, thanks to Jitesh Sharma (44 off 28), Sam Curran (not out 49 off 31) and M Shahrukh Khan (unbeaten 41 off 23).

He scored four half-centuries in the tournament with best score of 70. He also picked up six wickets with his spin bowling. Livingstone has also represented England in 12 ODIs and 29 T20Is, He also has scored the fastest century by an England player in T20Is.

But PBKS finished at the sixth spot for the fourth season in a row despite his heroics. They won seven and lost seven out of their 14 matches, ending up with 14 points. They fell two points short of a potential spot in a playoff.

Sam Curran, the highest-paid player in IPL history, purchased for Rs 18.50 crore at the auction last year, has joined the team. He is the only English player left in the squad. Jonny Bairstow has been ruled out of the competition as well, with Australia's Matthew Short named as his replacement.

Matthew Short was the 'Player of the Tournament' during the Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23, representing Adelaide Strikers. He was the second-highest run scorer in the tournament with 458 runs at an average of 35.23 in 14 matches, with one century and two fifties and a best of 100*.

He also took 11 wickets in 14 matches, with the best bowling figures of 3/14. In all, he has played 67 T20s, in which he has scored 1,409 runs in 64 matches at an average of 23.88, with one century and seven fifties. He also has 22 wickets in the format.

Besides Livingstone, South African pacer Kagiso Rabada will also miss the opening nggame because of international cricket commitments. The bowler is expected to arrive in India on April 3 ahead of away match against Rajasthan Royals.

In a blow to England’s chances of winning the first Test and the series overall, star all-rounder Liam Livingstone is ruled out of the remainder of the Pakistan Tests due to a knee injury. Liam injured his knee during day 2 while the reports of his&nbsp;scans on Sunday, day 4 suggested he is unfit&nbsp;and thus will miss the whole tour. He will be flying back to England on Tuesday, December 6th.

After he sustained the injury, Liam didn’t take the field during the Pakistan innings&nbsp;but&nbsp;came out to bat in England’s final innings, scoring 7 off just 8 balls. In his maiden outing in Tests, Livingstone could contribute little scoring just nine runs including one six. He, however, didn’t bowl in any of the innings following his knee injury.

In his maiden outing in Tests, Livingstone could contribute little scoring just nine runs including one six. He, however, didn’t bowl in any of the innings following his knee injury. Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Faf du Plessis is all set to reunite with the franchise as he has been reportedly roped in by the CSK management as a marquee player for their team in South Africa's new T20 league. Cricket South Africa (CSA) is yet to name the T20 tournament which is set to get underway next year and will have six teams, all owned by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises.

While CSK owners have bought the Johannesburg franchise in CSA's new T20 league, Mumbai Indians (MI) have bagged the Cape Town team. The owners of Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants have bought the Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, Paarl and Durban franchises respectively.

All six franchises have already made some key signings as Wednesday (August 10) was the last day for the direct acquisition of players. Cricket South Africa had asked all six teams to submit a list of a maximum of five players they have signed with a minimum of one South African part of the list.

The CSA rules also state that a franchise can only have three foreigners as part of their final five with not more than two players from one country, and at least one uncapped player on the list. As per a report in Cricbuzz, all six teams have retained some of the players from their existing teams in the IPL.

As per Cricbuzz, CSK have roped in Du Plessis for their Johannesburg franchise. The former South Africa captain was part of the CSK squad in the IPL from 2011 to 2021 barring just two seasons in 2016 and 2017 when the team was banned from the competition. However, CSK couldn't retain Du Plessis in the IPL 2022 mega auction earlier this year as he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Apart from Du Plessis, CSK have also signed England all-rounder Moeen Ali for their Johannesburg franchise. Ali will now for a CSK-owned franchise in both the IPL and the South African league.
