Jammu and Kashmir's business community, especially the hoteliers of Gulmarg, are distressed as they might have to shut down their businesses as new land law came into effect in the Union Territory. The government of Jammu and Kashmir issued a notification, which stated that the owner must hand over possession of leased land immediately, failing which they shall be evicted. The government will not renew the leases of outgoing lessees, and an online auction will be held to outsource the land.

The political parties have strongly opposed this decision and criticised the BJP government for taking such decisions against the locals of Jammu and Kashmir. The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah said that the current leaseholders should be given a chance to renew the lease.

''Taking away the land from people, and throwing them out like this? What's the need for that? The law of natural justice is that you give lease holders the right to renew the lease, they should have the first right of refusal. You can decide the rates,, if they are not able to give that rate or does not want to, then it can be given to anyone else. But first right is the current lease holder who took care of it for years. If LG takes that decision, then we won't have any issue with that. But from the order that has been taken it is very evident that they want to take away the land from the locals and give it to the outsiders, '' said Abdullah.

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has strongly opposed the decision as well. She said that BJP is snatching the land of locals and giving it to outsiders. She also took a dig at the central government by saying that China has made incursions in Ladakh, and Arunachal and they have no reply to that, but they want to take away the land from locals of the Union Territory.

''It's a big betrayal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP calls us citizens and atoot ang and are snatching the land from those very citizens. While China has captured our land both at Ladakh and Arunachal, BJP has no reply to that. They want to take away the land from the locals. They are taking our lands, resources. People who are doing business on these lands are being asked to vacate '' said Mufti.

Altaf Bukhari, leader of J&K's Apni Party has also criticised the decision of the government as well. ''It cannot stand the scrutiny of law and It is Inhuman. We have not seen any laws like these anywhere, If the lease was not renewed by previous governments, it is not the fault of the business community. The lease needs to be extended to these already running businesses on the land," he said.

However, the government does not seem to have any plans to bring any change in the notification.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that the land laws in Jammu and Kashmir were regressive. H said, ''The land laws in Jammu and Kashmir were very regressive, They were not framed keeping in view the interests of the common masses. We are doing everything that will help the local people of the Union Territory. Around 40 to 45 per cent cases in various courts are due to land disputes."

The 2022 land law in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir states that land can be leased for education, healthcare, tourism, skill development and recreational purposes. The government can give the land to ex-servicemen, war widows, and families of deprived categories.

Gulmarg has around 60 hotels and huts built on the leased land. And the lease for around 99 per cent of hotels has expired. And the hoteliers of Gulmarg have said that if the lease is not renewed, all of them will have to shut their businesses.

To help the farming community of Jammu and Kashmir, the Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agriculture and Science Technology (SKUAST) and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir have introduced high-tech drones to spray chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides in the orchards.

This technology will help the farming community of the region and lower the costs. From manual labour to minimal usage of chemicals and saving time, this technology could be a great help for the farmers of the Kashmir Valley. The government says that if the farmers adopt technology, it will help in increasing economic productivity, reducing environmental pollution and attracting youth to agriculture.

''The agriculture university of Kashmir is now working with the government of Jammu and Kashmir about the modernisation of agriculture, it includes bringing in new technologies. We would also include Artificial Intelligence. We have today introduced drones for spraying of pesticides and fertilizers in our orchards, conventionally we are using excessive use of chemicals, 90 per cent of all the chemicals used in Jammu and Kashmir are sprayed on these orchards."

Using drones will bring down the percentage of pesticides by around 90 per cent. We will also be reducing the labour cost. It would be more precise with a mist spray. We are sure we will be taking agriculture to the next level with the support of the government,'' said Nazir Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST.

Jammu and Kashmir has around one lakh sixty thousand hectares of land under horticulture and over 20 lakh metric tonnes of fruit are grown every year. Around 8 per cent of the economy of the Union Territory is contributed by horticulture.

''Horticulture is the backbone of the economy of Jammu and Kashmir, It is around 15 thousand crore rupees (Rs 150 billion), and we believe there is potential to increase it to four times. It won't happen without technology. Drone technology is one aspect, we are also bringing Artificial Intelligence. We are collecting data on how it's spraying the pesticides, at what height, and whether the mist it is spraying is sufficient for the requirement of the plant. We are collecting all the data and by next year we will be able to give it to farmers for use,'' said Vice Chancellor Ahmad.

The drones are not fitted with a camera yet due to security reasons. But SKUAST is working with the government and will soon be fitting a spectrum camera which will detect the disease of the plant and spray it with exactly the kind of chemical to treat the disease. Using this technology will save 90 per cent of the chemicals which will be great for the environment and also good for health.

''Our drone is called Agri boat. It is the first drone approved by DGCA. It is designed for 10 litres of liquid that will be sprayed over one acre of land. The battery life is around 20 minutes per charge. It can cover up to one hectare of land per battery charge. A farmer can save around 90 per cent of water, generally, it takes three hours for an acre of land and that too with a team of labourers, so if we compare this is less time-consuming and needs much lower manual labour. The second is human contact with chemicals would be much lesser,'' said Dheeraj Yadav, engineer.

The farming community of the Kashmir region has hailed the initiative and demanded that drones be made available soon.

The bumper harvest of apples this year in the valley brought cheer to the apple farmers in Kashmir valley but now they are considering it one of their worst years in terms of profitability. With the prices plummeting by over 50 per cent and no place to store the crop, the apple farmers of the valley are worried sick.

The apple farmers are getting 50-60 per cent lower prices than what they managed last year. The farmers say the demand for Kashmiri apples in the market has come down which has become a worry for the majority of apple growers in the Kashmir valley.

“We face a lot of problems like cold storage. Main cold storage facilities get booked in advance and due to the bumper crop, the growers were left with no option of storing their crop. It’s still lying outside and farmers don't know what to do with it. There was an issue with the national highway as well. And when all this crop reached the 'mandi' (market), there was a dip in prices," said Shahid Chaudhary, general secretary, New Kashmir Fruit Association.

"In a 'Mandi' which gets 50-100 trucks daily, over 150 trucks arrived and that eventually lead to dip in rates. We have been asking the government for more cold storage units. We have very less cold storage, we have requested the government time and again. There should be mini cold storages in small villages too," added Chaudhary.

One of the reasons for the dip in the rates of Kashmiri apples has also been the apples from Iran. The import of Iranian apples to India has affected the market of all the apple-producing states in the North of India, including Kashmir.

The apple growers and associations have requested the central government to stop the import of Iranian apples so that the market of home-grown apples is not affected.

"The Irani apples have ruined our market. We have asked central government to ban Iranian apples as it has affected our market. One of the reasons for dip in the rates of the Kashmiri apple is due to the Iranian apples," said Chaudhary.

Kashmir region has around 700,000 families associated with horticulture. And Apple is one of the major contributors towards the GDP of Jammu and Kashmir. With 3.5 million people associated with the apple industry, its contribution to the union territory's GDP is nearly eight per cent. According to data, there has been a 15-20 per cent increase in production this season.

"We had a bumper crop this year but there was a dip in the rates of the apples this year. The expenditure on boxes, fertilisers and pesticides has been more this year but rates have gone down. We are getting 300-400 rupees less this year per box as compared to last year. Iranian apples have impacted our market a lot, not only Kashmiri apples but also all other states in India. We have time and again asked the government for stopping the import of Iranian apples," said Bashir Ahmad, an apple agriculturist.

Kashmir produced around 2.3 million metric tonnes of apples last year. This year, it has increased by 15-20 per cent. Around 2,500 to 3,000 apple trucks would leave from the valley during the peak season. Buyers from across India are also facing losses due to the dip in rates.

“The rates have come down drastically as compared to last year. It could be due to the over production, we are buying at lesser price and selling at lesser too. Last year, we would buy for 800 rupees per box and sell it for 1000, but this year we are buying at 450-500 and selling at 600 which is leading to a lot of losses. The Jammu and Kashmir government installed a statue of Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, a policeman who was martyred during an encounter on May 25 in the Baramulla district.

Mudasir was killed during an encounter with terrorists in the Kreeri area of Baramulla in May this year. In the same encounter, three foreign terrorists were also killed by the security forces.

Jammu and Kashmir police's DG and Deputy Commissioner Baramulla were present while unveiling the statue. Last month Home Minister Amit Shah visited the residence of a slain cop in Uri, North Kashmir. Shah also visited the graveyard where Mudasir has been laid to rest and paid his respect.

While interacting with media, Jammu and Kashmir police's DG Dilbagh Singh said that the number of local terrorists in the Kashmir region has been brought down to two digits while a very smaller number of foreign terrorists were active in the valley and are being tracked down.

Talking about hybrid terrorists, he said: "It has been a challenge as the handlers across the border had been luring the young boys, giving them weapons and targets. We have largely succeeded in facing this challenge and this year so far, over 100 modules of Hybrid militants were busted across J&K."

On being asked about the threats to local journalists through a blog called Kashmir Fight, DG Police said, "Kashmir Fight blog is a circus of death. It is being run by ISI. There are some people across the border who are not able to digest the peace prevailing in Kashmir and hence continue to issue threats to police, media men and even public representatives. If the media is not writing about Pak agenda, the media has become the enemy for them as well. It is the media that has to take the call."

The DG also reviewed the security situation across north Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir Police has said that 40 foreign terrorists have been killed in the Kashmir region in 2022 so far. Most of these terrorists belonged to either Lashkar-e-Taiba or Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfits. The director-general of Jammu and Kashmir Police said that most of the leadership of these terror outfits has been wiped out.

He also said that there has been an evident drop in the terror outfit recruitments in the Kashmir Valley. And there is a leadership crisis among these terror groups in the Valley.

"We have managed to destroy the structure of these terror outfits. Pakistan always wants foreign terrorists to hold command of outfits like Lashkar and Jaish. But we have had successful operations this year in which around 40 foreign Pakistani terrorists have been neutralised in various operations. Pakistan is still trying to infiltrate more terrorists into the region and some of these attempts have been successful and we are keeping an eye on that too and soon they will be dismantled too," said J&K DGP Dilbagh Singh.

The DGP also said that since the winter is approaching, there would be more attempts by Pakistan to send across foreign terrorists into the Kashmir Valley.

"The terrorists from across the border will try to infiltrate before the winter and snowfall. But the counter-infiltration grid has been made stronger and no such attempt would be successful," said the DGP.

According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, terror recruitment in the Valley has come down. Police say that they have managed to kill most of the top commanders of the terror outfits and it has led to the terror recruitment taking a hit.

"The youngsters of the valley are preferring to make their careers in various fields. Stone pelting has completely stopped and local terror recruitment too has dropped to almost zero," said Singh.

One of the major concerns for the security forces in the valley are Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The police are working on a strategy.

"IEDs are low cost for terrorists and are in fact part of a new strategy aimed at inflicting maximum damage to forces and less to militants. Consignments airdropped through drones were seized in Jammu," said DGP.

Jammu and Kashmir: 40 foreign terrorists killed this year, terror outfits face leadership crisis

The Jammu and Kashmir Police celebrated Police Commemoration Day in Srinagar today. The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, and ADGP of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Vijay Kumar, attended the Police Commemoration Day at the Armed Police Complex Zewan in Srinagar.

Jammu and Kashmir Police remembered the supreme sacrifice of its personnel for the nation. The senior officers from the administration and police, local representatives, veterans along with family members and relatives of the martyrs attended the commemoration day event.

While addressing the gathering, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that no one will be allowed to disrupt the peace in Jammu and Kashmir and those hatching conspiracies to "destabilize the peace will have to pay a heavy price".

''The police force has been doing commendable work in the UT for the past three decades. Be it maintaining law and order, fighting terror, managing traffic or curbing day-to-day crime, the police is always on the front. J&K Police is the country's best force fighting on multiple fronts with utmost professionalism," said Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

LG Manoj Sinha also said that there would be an end to terrorism soon.

"Best tribute to martyrs will be to push the last nail into the coffin of terrorism. The way a cross-section of society has come out on roads to condemn the brutal killings of minorities and non-local labourers, signifies that "terrorism is on its death bed and won’t survive for long,'' said Sinha.

Hitting out at the political parties without naming any, the Lieutenant Governor said that those trying to justify the innocent killings for their personal gains, were actually challenging the country’s sovereignty and integrity. "I don’t hesitate to state here that, if needed, such people will face action as per the law," Sinha said.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police said that 1,604 policemen have attained martyrdom in the last 30 years while fighting terrorism in the Valley.

In India, the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), a group of opposition parties, has alleged that the government is choking the people of Jammu and Kashmir. A meeting called by the member parties of the PAGD said that there is a concern about the deteriorating situation of Kashmir as well as the Jammu region.

"They took away the constitutional right of Article 370 and now slowly they are choking the other ways of survival for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Police stations and jails are full of innocent people, and they are taking away the civil liberties, freedom of press, freedom of speech," said Y Tarigami, the spokesperson of PAGD while he was joined by PAGD chief Dr Farooq Abdullah, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and others.

"Where are the 50,000 jobs promised by the government? Situation is grim as the number of unemployed youths is swelling. I visited Marwah, Dachan in Jammu region and found that the sub-district hospital has no doctor at all," said Abdullah.

The parties also discussed the recent order by the Jammu administration about giving voting rights to anyone who has lived in the Union territory for over a year. The order was withdrawn the next day by the administration.

"Giving voting rights is the prerogative of the Election Commission, how come the government was issuing orders? On the next day of the order, the media is told that the order stands withdrawn. Isn’t this a mockery of democracy," said Tarigami.

The PAGD also stated that it's time for all Jammu and Kashmir parties to stand together and raise a collective voice against the present central government.

PAGD alleges J&K situation turning worse, Farooq Abdullah says unemployment rising

The Jammu and Kashmir's regional political parties have strongly opposed a new order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu region ordering revenue officials to issue certificates of residence to the people residing in the territorial jurisdiction of Jammu “for more than one year.”

This order will enable these people to get entry into the ongoing special summary revision of electoral rolls.

Regional Political parties like National Conference, PDP and Democratic Azad Party have opposed this decision. People's democratic party president Mehbooba Mufti accused the central government of orchestrating demographic change in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Article 370 has been removed from J&K to pave way for these kinds of things and their 'BJP' main goal is to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir. The 'BJP' is afraid of elections because they know people of Kashmir and Jammu have understood their intentions. They will lose badly here and that's why they are now adding nonlocals to voter lists."

Mehbooba also added that "with the opening of land, jobs and now votes for non-locals, the traditional culture of Kashmiris and Dogras will be ruined. People of Jammu will bear the first blow to Dogra culture, identity, employment & business, BJP's attempts to create religious & regional divisions between Jammu & Kashmir must be thwarted because whether it's a Kashmiri or a Dogra, safeguarding our identity & rights will be possible only if we put up a collective fight.”

To safeguard the environment in the Kashmir Valley, Indian Railways is introducing the first electric train for the Kashmir region. The first electric train on the Banihal-Baramulla corridor will start next month. The electric train will ply on the 137 km Banihal-Baramulla corridor in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian railways have carried out multiple trials on the Budgam-Baramulla rail link and Banihal-Baramulla rail link as well. The government is planning to start the first electric rail on October 2. The total project cost for the electric rail link has been 324 crores.

''This electric train has two sections, the Budgam-Baramulla rail link trials had taken place earlier this year and now we did the trials for the Budgam-Banihal section on 24,25 and 26th September. We also got the security/safety inspection done by the principal chief electrical engineer, Northern Railways. It was done for three days, and we are fit for running the first electric train in this section,'' said Abid Amin Shah, additional general manager, IRCON.

Indian Railways have been pushing for pollution-free railways and in Kashmir, work is going on to convert all the trains running on fuel to electric. These electric trains are also cost-effective as they are going to bring down operational costs by over 60 per cent.

''This train has less operational costs, we were running the trains on diesel earlier. An electrical train will bring 60 per cent cost saving on fuel. The diesel locomotives are being phased out across the country and most trains will run on electricity. The running time will also be reduced, as its speed is more than diesel trains. It's the mission of the Government of India to make railways pollution free. There will be zero pollution with the introduction of these electric trains. And especially with regard to Kashmir valley, it's a great thing,'' said Abid Amin Shah, additional general manager, IRCON.

Since the operational costs of the railways will come down, the passengers will also get benefitted. The electric trains will be faster and will save the passengers a lot of time.

Former Chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti warned the central government of dire consequences if the fruit-laden trucks on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway are halted. The fruit growers of the valley have been protesting against the halting of the trucks on the National Highway. Today Mehbooba Mufti joined the protesting fruit growers in the Aglar area of Shopian in South Kashmir.

The farmers were on a sit-in protest for the third consecutive day against the halting of their fruit-laden trucks on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, which has led to huge losses for the farmers.

"You (BJP govt) have turned Kashmir into an open prison, destroying our economy. I am warning the administration that if they don’t immediately open the roads for trucks, I along with our workers will sit on a protest and block the National Highway,'' said Mehbooba Mufti.

Mehbooba also said that lakhs of people in Kashmir are dependent on the apple industry and the administration needs to know that. ''The farmers have taken loans and have to repay the same with interest, who is going to compensate the losses of these fruit growers,'' she added.

Former Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who recently quit the Congress party, received a threat letter from The Resistance Front terrorist organisation—an offshoot of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba — which tried to paint the 79-year-old leader as an agent of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

Azad is in J&K to float his new political party and has been continuously holding rallies across various districts of the union territory.

The threat letter stated that ''the entry of political chameleon Gh. Nabi Azad into J&K’s state politics is not an abrupt move but a well-planned move which was discussed and planned way back during his tenure in his previous political party. Before changing guards and moving to the valley, this political chameleon Azad had a detailed closed-door meeting with (Union home minister) Amit Shah and some reliable sources also say that NSA Doval was also called in another closed-door meeting.''

The letter further stated that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is using displaced Kashmiri Pandits for its political agenda and Ghulam Nabi is part of the plan B of the Centre.

While addressing a rally in Srinagar, Azad responded to the threat letter saying, "I just heard that there is a threat letter against me from militants. They said that before coming to Kashmir I met Amit Shah and Doval. I have never met Doval in my life, I swear by Allah. When I was in the parliament, I met all the political leaders,'' Azad said.

The veteran leader also appealed to terrorists to give up their arms and join the mainstream.

''Those who have picked up the gun, I appeal to them that guns are not the solution. It only spreads destruction. India is the biggest democracy. We are the nation of Gandhi,'' he said.

Addressing the issue of dilution of Article 370 through which Jammu and Kashmir's special status was revoked, Azad said that there is only one way of bringing back the legislation "if someone convinces PM Modi".

“During intervening night, terrorists fired upon & injured one migrant labourer Mohd Amrez, r/o Madhepura, Besarh, Bihar at Soadnara Sumbal, Bandipora. He was shifted to hospital for treatment where he succumbed," Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

The migrant labourer's killing comes days ahead of the India’s Independence Day celebrations. This is the second incident in the Kashmir Valley in the last 10 days where a migrant labourer was shot dead by terrorists. Earlier, a labourer was killed in South Kashmir's Pulwama district.

The family members of the deceased said that they heard some gunshots around midnight and when they went out to see, they found Amrez lying in a pool of blood.

"It happened around 12.20 am. My brother wasn't present in the room and at the same time, we heard some gunshots outside. When we went out to search for him, we found him lying in a pool of blood. We also informed the Indian Army. He died on the way to the hospital,'' said Mohammad Tamzeed, brother of Amrez.

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has taken the responsibility of sending the corpse of the deceased to his native village. Meanwhile, other migrant labourers are seeking strict punishment for those responsible for the killings.

''We have been working in Kashmir for the last 5 years, every now and then a labourer is killed here. We are requesting everyone to not do something like this, we come here for work. We want the killers to be punished,'' said Mohammad Akbar, brother of the killed labourer.

Jammu and Kashmir Police have initiated an inquiry into the killing of the labourer. So far, 22 civilians have been killed in various terror incidents across the valley in 2022.

The latest attack comes a day after four soldiers were killed by terrorists who struck at an Army camp in the Rajouri district.

The two attackers, believed to be from Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, were gunned down in the shootout after the pre-dawn suicide strike that marked the return of 'fidayeen' to Jammu and Kashmir after more than three years.

Migrant labourer shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir

In India, Jammu and Kashmir police along with security forces tasted a huge success in Central Kashmir's Budgam district on Wednesday. In an encounter that started earlier today (August 10), a top terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba (TRF) Lateef Rather was killed along with two other terrorists of the group. Rather was an A++ category terrorist and was active since 2001.

Rather was also involved in the killings of TV actress Ambreen Bhat and Kashmiri pandit Rahul Bhat in May. According to Jammu and Kashmir police, Rather was a recycled terrorist and was the right hand of Abu Qasim, who had in 2013 carried out an attack in the Hyderpora area of Srinagar in which eight soldiers were killed.

"An important operation was conducted today in Budgam district with inputs from Srinagar. All the three terrorists were killed and the most important was the killing of Lateef Rather. All the terrorists who were involved in the civilian killings have been neutralised and only one is left," said ADGP Vijay Kumar, Kashmir Police.

Jammu and Kashmir Police also said that around 80 local terrorists are still active in the Valley, while security forces also believe that there are 45-50 foreign terrorists across Kashmir.

With today's encounter, 130 terrorists have been killed in the Kashmir division. "Hybrid terrorists are not a challenge for us anymore, It was a challenge in the beginning. We have managed to break the hybrid terror code," said ADGP Vijay Kumar, Kashmir Police.

Jammu and Kashmir Police also said that the pistols recovered from the hybrid terrorists this year have been Turkish-made.

India: Top Lashkar (TRF) terrorist Lateef Rather, two others killed in encounter at Budgam in Kashmir

About 3 years ago, on the 5th of August, 2019, the government of India scrapped Article 370 which gave special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Years later, the situation of the people of the valley has transformed greatly, witnessing an all-round development.

J&K valley witnesses all-round development

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Jammu and Kashmir has unearthed a $54,000 ''Biryani'' scam against the former Jammu Kashmir Football Association (JFKA) office bearers. The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau has filed an FIR against JKFA officials for misappropriation of funds of around $57,000 received from the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC).

The initial enquiry conducted by the ACB shows the funds sanctioned by the government of India through JKSC to organise tournaments like Khelo India and Mufti Memorial Gold Cup were not utilised properly. A complaint was registered by a local Kashmiri Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of Sopore alleging that funds allotted by JKSC and other government and semi-government agencies, for conducting football activities across J&K were misused.

Biryani as refreshment for football players

“During the investigation, it was found that members of J&K Football Association showed an amount of $54,000 paid to Mughal Darbar, Polo View Srinagar (a famous restaurant in Srinagar) for purchase of biryani as refreshment for the teams. But no such refreshment has ever been given to any team in any district of Kashmir province. '' said an ACB official. ''The bills raised and placed on record in this regard have been found to be fake.'' ACB stated in the FIR.

ACB during the probe also found out that the bills produced bore the same handwriting, thus being proved forged. The amount has been drawn by preparing false and fabricated bills by the J&K Football Association members.

“Similarly, an amount of $1800 was shown paid to Hindustan Photostat for various activities, which during inquiry also were found to be fake and prepared by resorting to forgery. An amount of $1300 was shown paid to Jan Hardware Tengpora by-pass Srinagar which was found non-existing,” the contents of the FIR read.

ACB has registered FIR 30/22 under Sections 5(1) (c), 5(1) (d) read with Section 5(2) of the JK PC Act Svt 2006 and Section 465, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code in Police Station ACB, SBG Srinagar against JKFA officials including its president Zamir Thakur, treasurer S S Bunty, chief executive S A Hameed, and member Fayaz Ahmad besides others.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau in Jammu and Kashmir has come down heavily on corruption in the Union territory. In the last few weeks, half a dozen government officials have been arrested by ACB concerning corruption cases. The arrests come under the zero-tolerance policy for corruption of the Modi government.
