<p>Israeli military spokesperson Richard Hecht, on Saturday, said that there is a safe passage window between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm (local time) on the roads, down the Gaza coast and through the centre of the narrow Palestinian territory, which is about 40 kilometres long.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Hecht did not comment on how many days the passage window would remain open and acknowledged that “this is going to take time but we recommend people not to delay.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Similarly, Adraee had asked Gazans to head south “for their own safety” on specified streets of Gaza until 4:00 pm (local time).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Additionally, a security source belonging to the Palestinian militant group in Gaza, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the news agency that “two cars were bombed next to the Kuwaiti Hospital south of Gaza City”.</p>

<p>A report by CNN citing videos it authenticated showed a scene of extensive destruction after a blast on Salah Al-Deen Street on Friday where a “number of bodies, including those of children, can be seen on a flat-bed trailer” which seemed like a vehicle being used to carry people away from Gaza City.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It was not immediately clear what caused the widespread devastation, said the American media outlet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>AFP citing Hamas’s health ministry and government media office said dozens of civilians heading to safety were killed in at least three locations Friday afternoon.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to reports, the&nbsp;bombing killed&nbsp;a reported 70 people, including children, which the Hamas has blamed on Israel.</p>

<p>A report by the Guardian cited&nbsp;an analysis done by the Forensic Architecture investigative unit at the Palestinian human rights organisation, al-Haq which used aerial photos and social media posts&nbsp;to geolocate the site of the strike.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The British media report citing the visuals from the aftermath of the attack said there were&nbsp;12 dead bodies, most of whom were women and children. It added, that the youngest child was around two-years-old.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Israeli military, on Saturday (Oct 14), released a statement saying that they had found the bodies of some of the hostages abducted by the Hamas militant group during their operations inside Gaza this week.</p>

<p>"We have found and located some bodies of Israelis who were abducted in the perimeter in the Gaza Strip," a military spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, told a briefing.</p>

<p>Israel claimed that at least 120 people were taken hostage when Hamas launched unprecedented attacks against Israel last week on Oct 7 that claimed the lives of at least 1,300.</p>

<p>The Israeli military has since orchestrated "localised" raids inside Gaza to support an air offensive on the territory that the Hamas government says has killed at least 2,215.</p>

<p>Lerner said the bodies of hostages were found on these "small, close-perimeter raids into the Gaza Strip".</p>

<p>The Israeli military has carried out air raids on thousands of Hamas targets in Gaza, said the spokesman.</p>

<p>"They include quality targets such as drone facilities, they include naval facilities, they include command and control facilities, they include all of the rocket facilities," Lerner said.</p>

<p>"Our assessment suggests that at this time Hamas are in a state of disarray, they have no idea what the situation is above ground, they have escaped into the tunnels."</p>

<p>Lerner did not say there is a deadline to leave north Gaza but told the briefing: "We have extended once again because we realised that there is a huge amount of people that need to get out. We are continuing to encourage the population in the north of the Gaza Strip and Gaza City to go south and get out of harm's way."</p>

<p>Foreign ministry spokesman Lior Haiat told the briefing that Israel is not demanding that Palestinians leave Gaza but just to get out of the north.</p>

<p>"We gave them (civilians) the time to do so and we will continue to give civilians time to leave the places that we think Hamas is using for its terrorist infrastructure," Haiat said.</p>

<p>As per reports, one update shared on September 28, which was backed by multiple intelligence inputs, indicated that Hamas was planning a massive rocket attack on Israel.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There are also enough trauma pouches to treat 235 wounded people, which enable injured people to be stabilised and receive immediate, life-saving care anywhere it is needed.</p>

The official pointed out that Washington did not have a confirmation that the agreement was being implemented, but the intention was to have it open. The official said that around 500-600 American citizens in the Gaza Strip reached out for information on leaving the territory. <p>Israel's military has issued an order for the evacuation&nbsp;of all civilians residing in Gaza City and the northern region of the Gaza Strip in anticipation of a potential ground offensive in the besieged enclave.</p>

<p>This directive was issued on Friday (Oct 13) following a warning received by the United Nations from Israel, instructing the evacuation of 1.1 million people living in the north of Gaza within a 24-hour period.</p>

<p>The order, which comes on the seventh day of an ongoing war&nbsp;and a declared "total blockade" by Israel, instructs the residents of Gaza City to relocate further south within the Gaza Strip, a narrow coastal area with a population of around 2.3 million.</p>

<p>As per the flyer accessed by WION which the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) dropped from planes into Gaza, the IDF has urged civilians to move to the south of Gaza, and not return to their homes until further notice.&nbsp;</p>

It's a painful scene with a huge number of families leaving the city, carrying their belongings, mattresses, and suitcases".</p>

<p>"Simultaneously, Israeli airplanes have blocked the main routes, making it difficult for people to move from the north to the south of Gaza. A dozen neighbourhoods have been devastated.&nbsp;The current situation is a true humanitarian crisis," he said.</p>

<p>"Many people are taking shelter at the&nbsp;Al-Shifa Hospital, and are reluctant to move the south." he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The largest medical facility in the Gaza Strip, Al Shifa Hospital, is presently overwhelmed with injured patients. The hospital is operating significantly beyond its designated 500-bed capacity and has sufficient fuel to keep its generators running for an additional four days, as per the New York Times report.</p>

<p>A Chechen-origin man fatally stabbed a teacher on Friday (Oct 13) in northeastern France. The attack was quickly denounced by French President Emmanuel Macron as an act of “Islamic terror.” Now, the country’s Interior Ministry has claimed that the attack in the town of Arras might be linked to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.</p>

<p>There was “probably a link between what’s happening in the Middle East and this incident,” said Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin.</p>

<p>France has subsequently raised the alert level in the country to the highest, with authorities saying it was not triggered by one particular incident. The country has also decided to deploy 7,000 soldiers across the country to maintain stability and peace.&nbsp;The deployment of the soldiers from Operation Sentinelle will be completed by Monday evening, according to the Elysee presidential palace.</p>

<p>The investigation of the case has been handed over to the anti-terrorism prosecutor's office. The suspect, who was later arrested by police, has been identified as Mohamed M.</p>

<p>The 20-year-old man featured on a state watchlist of people identified as a potential security risk. The list carries thousands of names but only some hundreds are monitored.&nbsp;Mohamed M was amongst those being monitored and his phone had also been tapped. However, there was no indication that he could carry out such a fatal attack.</p>

<p>Only a day earlier, Macron had urged the French to remain united and refrain from bringing the Israel-Hamas conflict home.</p>

<p>Visiting the site of the attack, Macron paid his respects to the dead teacher, Dominique Bernard, whose body still lay under a cover surrounded by a pool of blood.</p>

There was “probably a link between what’s happening in the Middle East and this incident,” said Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin. France has subsequently raised the alert level in the country to the highest, with authorities saying it was not triggered by one particular incident. The country has also decided to deploy 7,000 soldiers across the country to maintain stability and peace. The deployment of the soldiers from Operation Sentinelle will be completed by Monday evening, according to the Elysee presidential palace. He shouted “Allahu Akbar” before killing the teacher. The 20-year-old man featured on a state watchlist of people identified as a potential security risk. The list carries thousands of names but only some hundreds are monitored. Mohamed M was amongst those being monitored and his phone had also been tapped. However, there was no indication that he could carry out such a fatal attack. <p>The conflict has pushed Saudi Arabia to engage more with Iran, its regional foe. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi with a view to prevent broader surge in violence which may span the entire Middle East.</p>

<p>A Saudi statement said the crown prince told Raisi "the kingdom is exerting maximum effort to engage with all international and regional parties to halt the ongoing escalation", underling Riyadh's move to contain the crisis.</p>

<p>Reuters said that there would now be delay in US-backed talks on normalisation of ties with Israel.</p>

<p>Until Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7, both Saudi Arabia and Israel had been saying that they were moving towards a normalisation deal. This had potential to reshape the geopolitical scenario in the Middle East.</p>

<p>Saudi Arabia is home to Islam's two holiest sites. The kingdom had reportedly indicated till recently that it would not allow its pursuit of a U.S. defence pact be derailed even if Israel did not offer significant concessions to the Palestinians in the their bid for statehood.</p>

<p>As the Israel-Hamas conflict completes a week, at least 1300 Israelis have been killed till now. On the Palestinian side, 1900 people have lost lives.</p>

<p>Amidst the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, a Stanford University lecturer has come under scrutiny for allegedly singling out Jewish and Israeli students during mandatory undergraduate classes on Tuesday (Oct 10), media reports said. This is yet another controversy that erupted days after Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman asked Harvard to release the names of their 30 students who signed a letter blaming Israel solely for the terror attacks by Hamas that took place over last weekend.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to Rabbi Dov Greenberg, director of the Chabad Stanford Jewish Center, who spoke to three of the 18 students present, the lecturer directed these students to stand apart and purportedly made the statement, "This is what Israel does to Palestinians," as relayed by students to Greenberg.</p>

<p>The situation further escalated when the instructor asked about the Holocaust's death toll.</p>

<p>When a student replied, "six million," the lecturer allegedly responded, "Yes. Only six million," and went on to assert, "Colonisers killed more than six million. Israel is a coloniser."</p>

<p>Leaders of Stanford's Israeli Student Association spoke with students who were in the classroom and collected additional details regarding the incident.</p>

<p>The lecturer downplayed the tragic loss of Jewish lives during the Holocaust by claiming that colonisation had caused more casualties than the Shoah&nbsp;(a Hebrew word that is often used to refer to the Holocaust).</p>

<p>Furthermore, it was reported that the instructor asked students to disclose their ancestral origins and labelled them as "colonisers" or "colonised" based on their responses.</p>

<p>United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the death of Reuters journalist on frontline&nbsp;"demonstrates the enormous risk of spillover of this conflict, namely in relation to Lebanon".</p>

<p>"We are deeply saddened to learn that our videographer, Issam Abdallah, has been killed," the Reuters statement said.</p>

<p>"We are urgently seeking more information, working with authorities in the region, and supporting Issam’s family and colleagues," Reuters said.</p>

<h2><strong>What happened?</strong></h2>

<p>According to one of the two wounded AFP correspondents, a&nbsp;group of journalists from different media outlets were stationed near the village of Alma al-Shaab, close to the border with Israel, when they were caught in cross-border shelling.</p>

<p>Earlier, a Lebanese security source had told AFP that initial Israeli shelling followed an infiltration attempt by a Palestinian faction from the Lebanese side of the border.&nbsp;</p>

<p>AFP photographer Christina Assi and AFP video journalist Dylan Collins were working in the area. Both were taken to a hospital in Tyre city of Lebanon for treatment.</p>

<p>Two other Reuters reporters, "Thaer Al-Sudani and Maher Nazeh also sustained injuries and are seeking medical care," Reuters said, adding it was "urgently seeking more information".</p>

<p>"We are deeply concerned that a group of journalists who were clearly identified have been killed and injured while doing their job," said AFP's global news director Phil Chetwynd.</p>

<p>"We send our deepest condolences to our friends at Reuters for the loss of Issam and we are all pulling for our injured colleagues in hospital."</p>

<h2><strong>World leaders react, Israel says will probe the incident</strong></h2>

<p>White House spokesperson Olivia Dalton told reporters on Friday (October 13) that the US President Joe Biden's prayers are with families of a Reuters news videographer who was killed while working in southern Lebanon.</p>

<p>"We know that the work that you all do is incredibly dangerous and today is reminder of that," Dalton said.&nbsp;</p>

Israel-Hamas war: Journalist dead, six wounded in crossfire at frontline; Israel assures probe

<p>A ‘top secret’ document allegedly prepared by the terrorist group Hamas has revealed that it had a detailed plan ready to target elementary schools and a youth centre in the Israeli kibbutz of Kfar Sa'ad, and the plan involved killing “as many people as possible.”</p>

<p>The document, widely circulating in international media, was recovered from some of the bodies of slain terrorists by Israeli troops and first responders.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The document, which appears to be an attack plan labelled ‘top secret’ in Arabic, directed two trained units to surround and target villages and other civilian sites.</p>

<p>The startling claim comes at a time when reports are emerging about babies being beheaded by Hamas terrorists.</p>

<p>A spokesperson for Netanyahu said that toddlers and babies were found in Kfar Aza, a 'kibbutz' or farming community&nbsp;in southern Israel, with their "heads decapitated" after Hamas' attack over the weekend.</p>

<p>Just the night before Hamas’ assault on Israel, the security and intelligence establishment of the Jewish nation received some unnerving signals that aroused concerns.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As reported by Israel’s newspaper Haaretz, several telephonic conversations were held between officials of Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Shin Bet security service and Southern Command.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Two telephonic conversations involved Shin Bet, IDF’s Intelligence Corps, the operations division and Southern Command, and these took place with the knowledge of IDF Chief of Staff Herzl Halevi.</p>

<p>A separate consultation was held at Shin Bet security service, which also involved its head Ronen Bar.</p>

<h2><strong>What was the intelligence input?</strong></h2>

<p>It was not fully clear exactly what intelligence input triggered these high-level consultations in the Jewish nation, but Haaretz reported that “the information involved an exercise.”</p>

<p>Despite significant nervousness, both IDF’s Intelligence Corps and Shin Bet security service didn’t recommend increasing the state of alert.</p>

<p>No steps were taken, as the Shin Bet said the signals or the intelligence input was insufficient to derive any insight.</p>

The Shin Bet unit that was dispatched to the south found itself fighting off terrorists at a kibbutz - or Jewish community- near the Gaza border later in the day. <p>Parents-in-law of Scotland’s First Minister Humza Yousaf have been trapped in Gaza since Hamas launched a surprising attack on Israel.</p>

<p>Wife of Yousaf Nadia El-Nakla, who is a Palestinian, told BBC on Wednesday (Oct 11) that her parents are "terrified" about what might happen next, adding that some relatives have had their homes destroyed in missile strikes.</p>

<p>Elizabeth El-Nakla and Maged El-Nakla travelled to Gaza last week before Hamas launched an all-front attack, killing hundreds of civilians in Israel.</p>

<p>The couple are now trapped in the besieged region along with Maged’s sick 93-year-old mother, their son, his wife and their four grandchildren — including a two-month-old baby.</p>

<h2><strong>No electricity, no water</strong></h2>

<p>In a video clip shared with the the BBC, Elizabeth narrated how their family is finding it hard to survive in the besieged Gaza, which is facing a barrage of Israeli missile strikes.</p>

<p>&nbsp;“I am currently in Deir al-Balah with my husband’s family, my family, my grandchildren,” Elizabeth said in a tearful video.</p>

<p>&nbsp;“We have no electricity. We have no water. The food we do have, which is little, will not last because there is no electricity and it will spoil.”</p>

<p>“I have four grandchildren in this home: a two-month-old baby, a four-year-old and, today, two nine-year-old twins. [It’s] their birthday. I ask the world to help the Palestinians.”</p>

Scotland First Minister Humza Yousaf’s in-laws stuck in besieged Gaza as Israel amps up attack

<p>The first charter flight carrying stranded Indians from war-hit Israel back home will take off Thursday night (Oct 12) from the Ben Gurion airport, Indian news agency PTI reported.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 9 pm (IST) flight will carry 230 Indians living in Israel to India, who have been chosen on a "first come first served" basis.</p>

<p>It must be noted that the government will bear the cost of their return and no amount will be charged from the beneficiaries. The special flights have been arranged as Air India had earlier suspended all of its flights to the Jewish nation when the war broke out on October 7.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Indian embassy has already sent an email to those set to return home today. "Messages to other registered people will follow for subsequent flights," the Indian embassy said.</p>

<h2><strong>Operation Ajay</strong></h2>

<p>Earlier, Indian Minister of External Affairs (MEA) S Jaishankar announced the launch of ‘Operation Ajay’ to facilitate the return of stranded Indians from Israel back home.</p>

<p>"Launching #OperationAjay to facilitate the return from Israel of our citizens who wish to return. Special charter flights and other arrangements being put in place. Fully committed to the safety and well-being of our nationals abroad," Jaishankar posted on X on Wednesday.</p>

<p>The Indian Embassy in Israel has started round-the-clock helplines for people stranded amid the war. The embassy has asked people to stay calm and follow security advisories being issued from time to time.</p>
