Dwayne Johnson on Israel-Hamas conflict: 'I'm heartbroken, angry, and sickened'

<p>On Tuesday (Oct 10), the cyber unit of Israel Police seized many online accounts maintained by the Hamas terror group who had crowdfunded cryptocurrencies.</p>

<p>During an investigation, it was found that Hamas collected funds by stealing from “pro-Israel” countries.</p>

<p>Times of India (TOI) newspaper on Wednesday (Oct 11) reported citing Indian security agency sources that they have intensified their surveillance efforts in order to prevent a repeat of what happened in 2021 when cryptocurrencies of a Delhi-based individual were stolen by Hamas.</p>

<p>The case in New Delhi was the first instance of Hamas' activity in India.</p>

<p>In late 2021, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell was probing a cryptocurrency theft worth 40 million rupees ($4,80, 900 approx.) siphoned off from the wallet of a West Delhi businessman.</p>

<p>In the complaint, the businessman claimed that some unknown thieves transferred his Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Bitcoin cash from his crypto wallet.</p>

<h2><strong>Findings of Delhi Police's probe</strong></h2>

<p>Though they were able to trace a few recipient wallet IDs, they were unable to zero in on the user’s identity.</p>

<p>At the same time, Israel's intelligence agency, Mossad, communicated—as part of routine intelligence exchange with their Indian counterparts—to Indian intel officers about some suspect wallets operated by terrorist groups for&nbsp;funding.</p>

<p>Many of these online wallets were being used by the al Qassam brigades of Hamas, the Palestinian terror group.</p>

<p>A breakthrough arrived when the Special Cell's Intelligence Fusion &amp; Strategic Ops (IFSO) unit ran a match on the wallets. It found that several wallets that had received the Bitcoin and Ethereum assets from Delhi were operated by the cyber wing of Hamas.</p>

<p>After finding a link, the Special Cell officers communicated the findings of their probe to the relevant authorities.</p>

<h2><strong>Officials on alert&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Speaking to TOI paper on Tuesday, former DCP (Special Cell) KPS Malhotra, whose team investigated the case, said, "Yes, our investigation had led us to several wallets linked to the al Qassam brigades."</p>

A breakthrough arrived when the Special Cell's Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Ops (IFSO) unit ran a match on the wallets. It found that several wallets that had received the Bitcoin and Ethereum assets from Delhi were operated by the cyber wing of Hamas. <p>Taking to her official Instagram handle, the actress posted a clip to share a chilling first-person account of the situation in Israel.</p>

<p>In the video, she thanked the Indian and Israeli governments for ensuring her safety along with several other survivors, who managed to escape the war-hit country in time and unharmed.</p>

<p>She also thanked her fans and well-wishers who constantly prayed for her safety and inquired about her whereabouts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the now-viral clip, she revealed that she woke up to the sounds of bombs and sirens blaring and then she was rushed to a shelter at her Tel Aviv hotel.</p>

<p>Towards the end of the video, she shared that she prays for the safety of the people still stuck in Israel and hopes that peace will prevail in the region.&nbsp;Check it out below!</p>

<p>In another post, the actress shared a long note, recounting the horrific moment when Hamas attacked Israel. She started by saying that the last week will forever remain etched in her memory, calling it a rollercoaster ride of emotions.</p>

<p>"My producer, stylist and I had been flown in to Haifa in Israel, on October 3, to attend the reputed Haifa International Film Festival for the screening of our recent film, <em>Akelli</em>, alongside my Israeli co-actors, Tsahi Halevi and Amir Boutrous. After two days of visiting all of Israel's historic places, Jerusalem, Jaffa, Bahá'í, and the Dead Sea, we'd almost ended our trip with a celebratory dinner for the film's cast on Friday night, Oct 6. That evening, Tsahi, Amir and I had toasted our film's selection at the Haifa Film Fest, promised to visit each other, and possibly work together again. We'd said our goodbyes and were ready to fly back the next day. But Saturday morning was nothing like the previous evening's celebration. We were woken up to the deafening sounds of bombs going off, a blaring siren, and complete and utter panic as we were all rushed down into a 'shelter' in the basement of our hotel. It was only when we emerged from there, after what seemed like an endless wait, that we learnt that Israel was under attack. Nothing could have prepared us for this news,"&nbsp;Nushrratt wrote.</p>

<p>"In a state of complete terror, our first impulse was to somehow reach the Indian Embassy, situated barely 2 km from our hotel, but a distance that seemed impossible to cover without any mode of transport whatsoever and only the dreadful sounds of explosions at very close range. We were then informed that Hamas militants had infiltrated several cities in Israel and were also out now on the roads, pulling civilians out of their homes and shooting people at random. Furthermore, there was open fire on vehicles on the roads and the situation out on the streets was 'extremely dangerous'. Just then, we heard a second siren go off and were rushed back down into the basement shelter,"&nbsp;Nushrratt continued.</p>

<p>"Soon realisation set in that we may actually not be able to make it to our scheduled flight back to India that night, and would most likely be stuck in a country that was now openly at war. This is when we began making desperate calls to everyone for help out of this unprecedented situation. When we connected with Tsahi, who too had customarily served in the Israeli military, it became clear that Israel was, in fact, in a state of emergency and engaged in a full-blown war."</p>

<p>"We kept track of official advisories issued by the Indian Government and connected with the Indian and Israeli embassies for details about the escalating situation outside, who were extremely helpful in guiding us. We knew then that it would be only a matter of time before flights would be cancelled and Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv would be shut down. Our phone batteries were fast running out and we were also beginning to lose cell network. Caught in the middle of a war in a foreign country was hardly something any of us had envisaged. But this was also when help had come in for us from completely unexpected quarters: calls from our Israeli co-actors, guidance from the Indian and Israeli embassies, the kind staff at the hotel and, most miraculously, a taxi driver who selflessly helped us at this most difficult and life-threatening time of our lives! We mustered all the courage we could find and picked ourselves up to somehow get to the airport and take any flight out to any country we could manage to,"&nbsp;Nushrratt recounted.</p>

<p>"Our journey out of our Tel Aviv hotel was not easy, to put it mildly... praying the whole time, even crying sometimes, we held onto each other for courage to keep on going, somehow making it to Ben Gurion Airport. The wait between one formality to the next for boarding a flight has never been more excruciating. what would otherwise have been routine was an uncertain and completely unpredictable few hours, to say the very least. With every small postponement announced, we despaired further, our hearts sinking again... surreal is a very weak word to describe how exactly we felt when we were finally airborne. As someone who has barely escaped a war zone, I cannot be more grateful today."</p>

<p>To conclude, the actress wrote, "I'm back home and safe with my family and my loved ones. But with an experience that has made me immensely grateful for the safety and security that we almost take for granted. <p>As the Israel-Hamas conflict rages on for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday (Oct 10), a disturbing video has come to the fore showing Hamas militants invading a southern Israel property, shooting a dog dead and then setting a house on fire.</p>

<p>The chilling video, recorded through bodycam footage, surfaced on social media platform X on Tuesday (Oct 10).</p>

<p>The clip further showed Hamas walking into a house in Kibbutz Kissufim town, opening the fridge, and then setting the home on fire.</p>

<p>According to reports, the video dates back to the start of the surprise assault launched on early Saturday morning when&nbsp;the country&nbsp;first came under attack. The initial casualty&nbsp;was reported from a music festival in the desert near the Gaza-Israel border.</p>

<p>More than 260 bodies were recovered from the festival site and was described as the worst massacre in Israel’s history.</p>

<p>More than 1,500 people have been killed since then, leading Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to declare "we are at war."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Israel is at war...Hamas will understand that by attacking us, they have made a mistake," Netanyahu said.</p>

<p><strong>Israel’s warning to Gaza</strong></p>

<p>Meanwhile, Israel’s military has warned that it considers Gaza's parliament and civilian ministries as legitimate targets in its war against the Hamas terror group.</p>

<p>Responding to the media, spokesperson Richard Hecht said, “If there’s a gunman firing rockets from there, it turns into a military target."</p>

<p>He also said that they won’t warn the targets before firing the missiles, adding that Israel’s air force is stretched thin.</p>

<p>Hecht further said that the military has found around 1,500 bodies of Hamas militants in Israeli territory as it said it had largely gained control in the country’s south and “restored full control” over the border on the fourth day of fighting following an unprecedented surprise attack.</p>

<p>Hecht also did not rule out the possibility of more infiltrations in the country.</p>

He also said that they won’t warn the targets before firing the missiles, adding that Israel’s air force is stretched thin. <p>The code question, he said, is "who represented Israel in the Eurovision."</p>

Former Israeli PM Naftali Bennett tells civilians how to know if Hamas militants were posing as IDF

<p>Israeli officials are facing heat over the unprecedented attacks launched by the Hamas terror group during the Jewish holiday over the weekend, as questions are being raised over the potential failure of its famed Mossad intelligence agency.</p>

<p>On Saturday (Oct 7) morning, Hamas began its blitzkrieg by air, land and sea spanning 22 locations outside the Gaza Strip, including towns and other communities as far as 15 miles (24 kilometres) from the Gaza border.</p>

<p>The attack caught the Israeli security apparatus off guard which had otherwise been largely successful in blunting any shadow war against the Jewish state.</p>

<p>The apparent lapse became clearer when Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that neither the Israeli Defence Force nor the Israel Security Agency — commonly known as the Shin Bet — issued any warnings that the terrorist organisation, which operates out of the Gaza Strip, was about to launch the assault.</p>

<p>What makes this intelligence failure even more startling is the fact that senior IDF and defence ministry officials publicly said last week that Hamas was not particularly interested in open conflict, the outlet reported.</p>

<h2><strong>Israelis caught off-guard </strong></h2>

<p>US officials said that if the Israelis knew an attack was imminent, they did not share it with Washington.</p>

<p>“We were not tracking this,” a senior US military official said, according to NBC.</p>

<p>According to BBC, Israel has the most extensive and well-funded intelligence network in the Middle East.</p>

<p>Their spy network includes informants and agents who have infiltrated Palestinian militant groups, as well as similar organisations throughout Lebanon and Syria.</p>

<p>However, this wasn’t enough.</p>

<p>“The entire system failed. It’s not just one component,” Jonathan Conricus, a former IDF international spokesman, told CNN.</p>

<p>“We didn’t even have any place to hide because we were at [an] open space,” Tal Gibly, one of the attendees, told CNN.</p>

Video shows music festival attendees fleeing site amid attack by Hamas militants

<p>In the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, an Israeli mother and her two daughters are among the hundreds of civilians held hostage by militants. Hamas invaded Israel on Oct 7&nbsp;morning through land and air, killing and capturing hundreds of Israelis.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Doron Asher, the mother of the two young girls, had gone with her girls to visit their grandmother in the village of Nir Oz near the Gaza border over the weekend when Hamas militants descended on the home, as per Reuters.</p>

<p>Doron called her husband, Yoni, who was in central Israel and was terrified over the call when she told him that the “terrorists are in the house.” After this, the phone was cut and Yoni hasn’t heard from her since.</p>

<p>On tracking Doron’s phone, Yoni found that her location showed her being across the border in Gaza.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Later, a video surfaced online in which Doron was clearly seen with her daughters being held at gunpoint in a cart along with other hostages in Hamas.</p>

<p>Many graphic videos of Israelis are being shared on X by pro-Hamas attack users and others. Relatives of missing Israelis have to go through these bloody videos to find their loved ones in hopes that they are alive. Yoni also saw her wife and daughters in one such video.</p>

<p>"My wife Doron Asher and 2 daughters Raz Asher 5yo and Aviv Asher 3yo, were taken yesterday as prisoners of Hamas. They were visiting my mother-in-law in Nir Oz", Yoni told WION.&nbsp;</p>
