According to the official IRNA news agency, the new drone “can fly up to a maximum duration of 24 hours at an altitude of 7,000 metres with an operational range of 2,000 kilometres.”&nbsp;

The payload capacity can reach 300 kilogrammes, double the capacity of the “Mohajer-6” drone allowing it to carry “all kinds of bombs and ammunitions,” IRNA reported.

The unmanned aerial vehicle can also travel at a speed of up to 210 km per hour and is reportedly equipped with enhanced electronic and intelligence systems. Meanwhile, the “Mohajer-6” drone can hold a 150-kg payload and fly for 12 hours.&nbsp;

The previous model also had a lower flight altitude of 5,400 metres and could travel at a speed of 200 km per hour.&nbsp;

A report by Reuters citing a video released by the Iranian media on Tuesday, which showcased the new drone along with other military hardware, displayed the text saying “prepare your shelters” in both Hebrew and Persian.&nbsp;

The Palestinian president’s diplomatic adviser called the appointment an “important step that will contribute to further strengthening the strong brotherly relations that bind the two countries and the two brotherly peoples,” as quoted by Wafa.&nbsp;

A Palestinian Authority official speaking to AFP, on the condition of anonymity said that with this announcement, “Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its recognition of the state of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital”.&nbsp;

This comes as Jerusalem is one of the biggest points of contention in a possible peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians. “This is one part of several steps and we will continue to develop the relationship with them,” the Palestinian source added.&nbsp;

Subsequently, he pulled out a pistol and shot one of the guards. The identity of the victim was not immediately known but he was reported to be critically wounded. Meanwhile, the other officer chased the assailant and shot him.&nbsp;

Local media reports also said that confrontations broke out between Palestinian residents and Israeli forces during the raid. The Israeli army had also stationed snipers on the rooftops of several Palestinian homes in the camp, reported Al Jazeera.&nbsp;

Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group said that they had opened fire on Israeli forces and detonated several explosive devices against army vehicles. “This unarmed young man did not possess weapons and had nothing to do with any military action,” said the armed group Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.&nbsp;

The “incidents” have resulted in Palestinian casualties, property damage, or both. “That’s an average of 99 incidents every month, and a 39-percent-increase compared with the monthly average of the whole of 2022, which is 71,” OCHA spokesperson Jens Laerke told reporters in Geneva.

This comes a year after the UN agency reported that the number of such incidents was the highest since the first started recording them back in 2006. According to Laerke, Palestinian Bedouin and other herding communities were particularly vulnerable. Since the beginning of last year at least 399 herders have been displaced amid settler violence.

“Israeli settlements are illegal under international law,” said Laerke. He added, “They deepen humanitarian needs due to their impact on livelihoods, food security and access to essential services.”

Palestinian teen killed during West Bank raid by Israeli army; UN warns about rise in settler ‘incidents’

Recalling the terrifying incident, Rafael, the woman's husband told Kan Reshet Bet: "We were returning from a vacation in the north, and suddenly I noticed a vehicle with Palestinian licence plates starting to turn around on the road, and it made a suspicious movement. I stopped 20 metres ahead, and the vehicle returned to its lane and began moving towards me. Two metres away from us, he crossed the line, blocked me, and the traveller exited with an M-16 weapon and began firing."

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) which responded to the incident, has confirmed that a shooting attack took place from a passing vehicle near the Hamra Junction.&nbsp;

"An Israeli civilian was lightly injured by shrapnel, and a number of hits to a vehicle were identified. IDF soldiers are pursuing the terrorists," they said.&nbsp;As a security measure, the entrances to the Shechem (Nablus) area have been blocked off.&nbsp;

In line with this, he called for the enactment of an 18-month moratorium which itself would have to be legislated by the opposition and government. Earlier, after talks broke down, Netanyahu pressed ahead&nbsp;on Monday (July 24)&nbsp;to pass the “reasonableness bill” anyway.&nbsp;

The changes made during that period would require a two-thirds majority, said the opposition leader, on Sunday, after demanding a jointly passed legislation to pause the judicial overhaul for 18 months.&nbsp;

Lapid, on the microblogging platform, said that both he and Israeli President Isaac Herzog thought that they were going to sign the 11th-hour agreement reached after talks, but then Justice Minister Yariv Levin and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir blocked its finalisation.&nbsp;

“Gvir and Levin entered the room, banged on the table and Netanyahu capitulated to them,” Lapid told the Kan public broadcaster&nbsp;in an interview&nbsp;on Saturday. Netanyahu, in the afternoon, thanked his supporters and well-wishers for their concern and also the doctors at Sheba Medical Center for their care.

"As you can see, I am doing great," a seated Netanyahu said in a video released by his office.

"We're continuing our efforts to complete the legislation, and the efforts to do it in agreement (with the opposition)," he said, wearing a suit jacket open at the neck.&nbsp;

"Either way, I want you to know that tomorrow (Monday) morning I'm joining my friends at parliament," he said, with a spokesman for the hospital telling AFP the premier was still at Sheba.

Earlier in the day, following the surgery, Sheba said that Netanyahu's condition was "good," and that he remained in the cardiology department for observation.

Netanyahu's office made an announcement overnight that the 73-year-old would undergo a pacemaker implantation surgery days after he was hospitalised for dehydration.

Netanyahu too released a video announcing his surgery saying that he will be discharged in time by the hospital for a key vote on the judicial reforms.

“A week ago I was fitted with a monitoring device. That device beeped this evening and said I must receive a pacemaker and that I must do this already tonight,” said Netanyahu, in a video statement which was released late on Saturday (July 22) by his office. “I feel great, but I need to listen to my doctors,” he added.

In the video, 73-year-old Netanyahu was seen standing and smiling. He stated that the doctors have assured him that the hospital would discharge him “tomorrow afternoon”.

"The doctors tell me that I will be free and I will be released from the hospital tomorrow afternoon and will be able to go to the Knesset to vote," the prime minister stated.&nbsp;

In a video message recorded inside the hospital, Netanyahu addressed the Israeli public, explaining that his condition may have been caused by spending time in the sun without a hat and sufficient water. He expressed gratitude to the medical staff and the public for their concern and assured everyone that he was feeling well.

"Yesterday I spent some time at the Kinneret with my wife, in the sun, without a hat and without water. Not a good idea," Netanyahu said.

He urged Israelis to "spend less time in the sun" and "drink more water" in the wake of the country's hot weather.

The latest health scare for Netanyahu comes at a time when debate over reforms bill is due in the parliament, which will be followed by voting on Monday (July 24). The final voting will take place on the key "reasonability" clause through which government decisions can be struck down by the judges.

The government of Netanyahu plans to curb the powers of the Supreme Court under this clause, adding that the changes are important for ensuring a better balance of power.

<h2>What do we know about the incident?</h2>

According to the Israeli military, the trio, which also included two girls, aged 9 and 14, was injured after being shot at by a moving vehicle at the Tekoa Junction, south of Bethlehem, which is some 16 kilometres away from south of Jerusalem.&nbsp;

The 35-year-old man was taken to the Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, said Magen David Adom Israeli ambulance service, adding that he is in serious but stable condition after sustaining gunshot wounds. Meanwhile, the girls were reported mildly injured. All three have been taken to the hospital in Jerusalem.&nbsp;

The victims were later identified as Elroi Kapach and his two daughters, Rachel and Avigayil, according to Israeli media reports. The trio reportedly live in the settlement of Nokdim.&nbsp;

In a statement obtained by The Jerusalem Post, the local mayor Shlomo Ne’eman, said “We’re talking about an area where there hasn’t been a serious terrorist attack for years.”&nbsp;

He added, “We all wish a speedy recovery to the person wounded, and embrace the security forces who will soon catch the despicable terrorists, and settle the score with them. We will not give in to the terrorists who seek to spill Jewish blood and throw us out of our country.”&nbsp;

<h2>Gunman arrested</h2>

According to the IDF, the Palestinian gunman, or gunmen, opened fire from a passing vehicle at the victims’ car. The&nbsp;Palestinian gunman who had fled the scene was&nbsp;captured hours later by the Israeli forces. 
 
This arrest took place&nbsp;after the Israeli military&nbsp;raided Bethlehem&nbsp;and detained&nbsp;the suspected gunman as well as&nbsp;his car&nbsp;which contained an M16 assault rifle. Additionally,&nbsp;two other suspects were also apprehended.&nbsp;&nbsp;

According to local media reports, at least 15&nbsp;Palestinians were injured in the raid but reportedly sustained&nbsp;minor injuries.&nbsp;

<h2>Rise in violence</h2>

The incident is one of many reported recently amid a rise of tension&nbsp;and violence between Israel and the Palestinians in the West Bank which is said to have intensified early last year when Israeli forces began near-nightly raids into Palestinian areas.&nbsp;

Earlier this month, Israel conducted its biggest military raid in 20 years in the occupied West Bank’s Jenin which resulted in the death of 12 people, including at least five Palestinian fighters, as well as one Israeli soldier.&nbsp;

The recent shooting also comes days after an alleged Palestinian assailant opened fire and threw a grenade at Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank. The man, who was <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/palestinian-who-opened-fire-threw-grenade-at-israeli-forces-shot-dead-614053">“neutralised”</a> by the Israeli forces, was later identified as 33-year-old Bilal Qadah by the Palestinian health ministry.&nbsp;

Delhi police registered a case on Sunday over a call to an Air India call centre in Pune on Thursday (July 13) that warned of a hijack threat&nbsp;on a flight scheduled to depart from Delhi to Tel Aviv.

According to the police, the person who made the call to the flag carrier of India said he overheard another person saying that a flight from Delhi to Tel Aviv will be hijacked.

As per news agency ANI reports, as per the FIR filed by Delhi Police, on July 13, a call was received at the Air India call centre in Pune. The caller introduced himself as Anurag from Assam and then said that he overheard a person talking about the hijacking of the Delhi-Tel Aviv flight.

"Following the call threatening the hijacking of an Air India Delhi-Tel Avivi flight, a meeting of the BTAC (Bomb Threat Assessment Committee) was convened at Guwahati airport and a special security committee also met over it from 9:16 am to 11:15 am, on 13 July," the FIR copy mentioned.

Delhi police further said that nothing suspicious had spewed up in the probe into the threat call so far, adding that the investigation was still ongoing.

The case was registered at IGI Airport Police station under Sections 82,341,505(1)(b),507 of the IPC, said police.

<h2>Man arrested for shouting 'hijack' on Vistara flight in India</h2>

Last month, a Vistara flight from Mumbai to Delhi experienced a delay of four hours due to an incident involving a male passenger who had to be deplaned and subsequently arrested for shouting 'hijack' just before take-off.&nbsp;

Following standard operating procedure (SOP), the authorities conducted a search of the plane before granting fresh clearance for departure. A Vistara spokesperson emphasised that the airline immediately informed the authorities and handed over the passenger, identified as Ritesh Sanjaykumar Juneja.&nbsp;

Following a complaint from the flight crew, Juneja was arrested on a Vistara flight scheduled to depart from Mumbai at 6:30 pm.

Juneja claimed to be mentally ill, as reported by the police. An unnamed police officer stated that Juneja attributed his behaviour to mental instability.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Sunday (July 16), was discharged from the hospital after doctors said that he was in good health. He was admitted on Saturday for dehydration.

The 73-year-old was taken to Sheba Medical Center on Saturday (July 15) and kept overnight under observation.

As per Reuters reports, his motor convoy was seen leaving Sheba after local media quoted his office as saying he had been discharged.&nbsp;

In a video message recorded inside the hospital, Netanyahu addressed the Israeli public, explaining that his condition may have been caused by spending time in the sun without a hat and sufficient water. He expressed gratitude to the medical staff and the public for their concern and assured everyone that he was feeling well.

"Yesterday I spent some time at the Kinneret with my wife, in the sun, without a hat and without water. Not a good idea," Netanyahu said.

He urged Israelis to "spend less time in the sun" and "drink more water" in the wake of the country's hot weather.

Sheba Medical Center confirmed its original diagnosis of dehydration and released a statement saying that the additional tests involving a subcutaneous Holter had found Netanyahu to be "in complete cardiac health".

"Prime Minister Netanyahu has completed a series of tests and is in excellent condition. Our diagnosis, at the end of all the tests performed, including the laboratory tests, that the reason for the hospitalisation was dehydration. His heart is completely normal, without any findings and he will be released to his home in the next few hours. The medical team decided to perform a series of comprehensive and routine examinations that are performed while fully conscious, including an electrophysiology test of the heart, all of which came out completely normal. At no point was any heart arrhythmia found. In order to continue routine monitoring, we decided to use a subcutaneous Holter, as is customary, to allow the medical professional team of the Prime Minister to continue regular monitoring," Amit Segev, Director of the cardiology unit at Sheba and President of the Cardiology Association in Israel said.

Netanyahu was reelected late last year and his proposed judicial overhaul has triggered weekly protests in the country since the month of January this year.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was undergoing medical assessments in an Israeli&nbsp; hospital on Saturday but was in good condition, his office said, with local&nbsp;media&nbsp;seeing no grounds for a handover of power.&nbsp;

Netanyahu, 73, was fully conscious en route Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, and walked into the emergency room, Israel's Channel 12 TV said, quoting the premier's doctor.

The Israeli parliament has given the initial nod to the bill. It has won a first of the three required votes to be written into the law late on Monday. The bill got the nod amid cries of 'for shame' by leaders in the opposition.

If the bill is passed in its current form, Israeli Supreme Court's power to quash government decisions would be curbed.

Opponents of the bill are arguing that the judicial oversight helps prevent corruption and abuse of power by the government. Supporters of the bill say that passage of the bill will facilitate effective governance as it will curb unnecessary court intervention. They say that judges have other legal means to exercise oversight.

The Palestinian health ministry later confirmed the death of 33-year-old Bilal Qadah, “near the village of Deir Nidham,” without any further details. According to the Palestinian news outlet Wafa, Qadah lived in the village of Shuqba near Ramallah and was married with three children.

Meanwhile, the leftist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine praised the 33-year-old as a “heroic martyr” and said that he had delivered a message of defiance to the occupying army, according to local media reports.

A report by Al Jazeera citing Ma’an news agency said that the Israeli forces did not allow Red Crescent ambulances to reach Qadah after he was shot and no assistance was reportedly given to him as he lay bleeding on the ground.&nbsp;

Israeli forces killed two Palestinian militants on Friday (July 7) in a firefight that erupted during raid on the occupied West Bank of Nablus, according to Israeli and Palestinian officials.

The two militants who died on Friday were identified by the Palestinian health ministry as Khairi Shaheen, 34, and Hamza Maqbul, 32.

AFP reported citing witnesses that Israeli troops had entered Nablus on Friday morning and surrounded a house in the Old City and asked those inside to surrender. Nablus is a stronghold of armed Palestinian groups in the northern West Bank.

The Abu Ali Mustapha Brigades, the armed wing of the leftist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), claimed Shaheen and Maqbul as its members.

The raid on Friday came days after Israel launched its largest operation in years in West Bank. Israel is in occupation of the West Bank since 1967. Twelve Palestinians and one Israeli soldier were killed during the large-scale raid on Jenin refugee camp which lasted more than 48 hours and ended Wednesday.

The Israel-Palestine conflict has seen deaths of 192 Palestinians, 27 Israelis, one Ukrainian and one Italian, said AFP according to its tally which it said was compiled from official sources from both sides.

On Wednesday, multiple cars drove into a crowd of protesters in Tel Aviv along the city's main highway where thousands had gathered to show solidarity with the popular police chief.

A video of the incident going viral on social media shows a photographer getting struck by one of the cars. Some people in the crowd chased after the car, and the driver was arrested. Apart from the photographer, minor injuries were reported as well.&nbsp;

Israel’s police commissioner, Yaakov Shabtai, called the driver a "terrorist" and praised the crowd members for nabbing him.&nbsp;

“Circumstances are being examined regarding his background and motive&nbsp;and I would like to praise the activity of the citizen with a lot of courage, that he was able to thwart the attack and prevent the continuation of that terrorist’s killing spree,"&nbsp;said&nbsp;Shabtai.&nbsp;

Thousands of people had blocked the&nbsp;Ayalon Highway, holding the&nbsp;blue and white Israeli flags, after&nbsp;Tel Aviv police chief Amichai Eshed announced his resignation from the force.&nbsp;Eshed said he quit&nbsp;over political intervention by members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's hard-right cabinet who reportedly wanted him to use excess force to cull the protests.&nbsp;

“I am paying an intolerably heavy personal price for my choice to avert a civil war,” Eshed said.

Although Eshed did not mention&nbsp;Itamar Ben-Gvir, the National Security Minister, it was clear that pressure from the far-right leader was the reason for his departure. The Israelis have been protesting against the judicial overhaul proposal by the Netanyahu government.&nbsp;Ben-Gvir on multiple occasions has batted for using heavy-handedness to deal with the protesters.&nbsp;

<h2>Stabbing incident reported in the capital</h2>

Wednesday's incident comes a day after at least seven people were injured, with four in serious condition after a car rammed into people on the sidewalk. The car driver later got out and started stabbing people, forcing police to deem it a "terrorist attack".&nbsp;

The assailant was then "neutralised" at the scene by a civilian first responder, an Israeli police spokesperson told Israel's Army Radio.

This incident has come just when tensions are high between Israel and the Arabs. This week, Israel conducted one the largest military incursions in decades in the occupied West Bank targetting the Jenin camp, a Palestinian military stronghold.

Two rockets were fired from Lebanon towards Israel, one of them landed in Lebanese territory and the second near a disputed area at the border.

The Israeli military initially said that there were no indications that any unusual incidents had taken place on its side of the border. But later it said that a projectile had exploded there. There wasn't any immediate report of damage.

"In response, the IDF (Israel Defence Forces) is currently striking the area in Lebanese territory from where the launch was carried out," a military statement said.

The Israeli military has not issued any special instructions to Israeli communities near the border. Israel usually orders civilians within range to take cover.

Reuters reported plumes of white smoke rising from the hilly south. A resident of Wazzani, the southern Lebanese village where one of the rockets fell, said artillery fire had hit there from the direction of Israel.

Lebanon's National News Agency reported some 15 shells fired from Israel had landed in Lebanon.

There was no claim of responsibility for the original reported rocket fire from Lebanon. Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said he was following up on the issue with the commander of Lebanon's army.

The second rocket has reportedly landed near the disputed village of Ghajar. The village straddles the Israel-Lebanon border. The residents of this village profess allegiance to Syria.

<h2>No comments from Hezbollah</h2>

Hezbollah has expressed support for the Palestinian cause during this week's Israeli operation in Jenin. Hezbollah, the Iran-backed Lebanese group that controls southern Lebanon has fought several wars with Isreal.

There was no immediate comment incoming from Hezbollah.

In a separate statement, the armed group condemned what it called "dangerous measures" taken by Israeli forces in the northern part of Ghajar, which Lebanon considers to be its territory.

Hezbollah accused Israel of erecting a wire fence and building a cement wall. Lebanon's foreign ministry on Tuesday said it was concerned by the moves, saying they were creating a "new reality on the ground". There was no immediate response from Israel's military to the Hezbollah accusation.

The Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) claims to have uncovered a “ghost” cell of 56 operatives supposedly spying on non-Turkey nationals for Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, reported the daily newspaper Daily Sabah, on Monday (July 3). The media report citing MIT has also said that seven people have confessed to working for Mossad.

The operation was a collaborative effort between MIT and the Anti-Terrorism Branch of the Istanbul Police Department and the latter arrested seven people, “who all confessed to working for Mossad in their testimonies,” reported the Sabah, citing information it gathered.&nbsp;

According to the Turkish intelligence agency, the seven suspects are among the 56 “operatives” linked to a total of nine networks which are reportedly overseen by Mossad agents based in Tel Aviv.&nbsp;

It added that MIT also found that Mossad had “developed overcomplicated methods” and conducted various operations in Istanbul while evading Turkish intelligence. 
 
Furthermore, the report citing MIT said that the Istanbul unit of the Israeli intelligence network was provided training and technical support remotely by the 24-year-old Indian owner of Tel Aviv-based spy software firm Cyberintelligence International Private Ltd.&nbsp;

<h2>Who was Israel supposedly spying on?</h2>

MIT also found Israel used Arab spies to reportedly gather “biographical” intelligence from its targets in Lebanon and Syria. According to the media report, the Israeli intelligence agency sent spies on “secret three-stop touristic trips” in Serbia, then Dubai and finally to Bangkok. In Thailand’s capital city, the spies would be trained at a “Mossad center” to “learn espionage.”&nbsp;

MIT also found that Mossad sent its Arab-origin spies in Istanbul to Lebanon and Syria to gather intelligence and mark locations which reportedly would be “struck by armed drones”.&nbsp;

According to the media report, among the targets was Hezbollah, a Shia terror outfit majorly operating in Lebanon, which is currently doing so out of a building in Beirut where the group’s senior military and other political figures live.&nbsp;

The report, on Monday, comes months after MIT claimed to have caught 11 people in Turkey spying for Mossad which also included two Turkish nationals.&nbsp;

"In the wake of the information that he gave to investigators, the cell was dismantled in an operation by the Cypriot security services," the Mossad said, noting "a series of arrests in Cyprus last week".

The Israeli agency said it had exposed part of "a continuing effort to carry out terrorist attacks and harm Israelis and Jews around the world".

Earlier this month, Netanyahu said that the vast majority of Israel's "security problems stem from Iran and its proxies".

Israel also condemned its arch-foe for seeking to obtain nuclear arms. Iran denies the claim.

While speaking at a military ceremony on Thursday, Netanyahu said that Israel would not be bound by any international agreement of Tehran's nuclear programme, adding: "We will retain our right and duty to defend ourselves, by ourselves, from any threat."

Israel's spy agency Mossad nabs man in Iran for planning attack in Cyprus

Knesset, the Israeli parliament, was witness to a scene where a female lawmaker was not allowed to address the house because she was carrying her infant daughter with her in a sling, reported The Times of Israel. Sharren Haskel the lawmaker, expressed displeasure at Deputy Speaker of the Knesset Uriel Buso. Haskel went to the podium wearing a sling that held her daughter.

According to the report, Haskel, a member of the Knesset and member of the opposition National Unity Party, wanted to present a bill to the plenum. As she approached the podium, Buso told her that as per regulations, only Members of Knesset could stand at the podium. Haskel went on to explain that she had tried to place her daughter in a stroller but the infant cried and hence, she was forced to keep it in the sling.

Buso consulted office of the Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana along with the parliament's legal advisors. They confirmed to him that only Members of the Knesset were allowed to stand at the podium.

However, Buso insisted. Haskel then offered to stand a bit away from the podium and make her speech. But the legal experts of the parliament disallowed even this.

After the incident, an annoyed Haskel released a statement and expressed her displeasure at Speaker Ohana. She said that it is “sad that the Knesset Speaker, who has two children at home, chooses to prevent a woman with children from going up to the plenary podium”.

Haskel said that there was no rule that said that a Member of the Knesset could not speak carrying her baby and that allowing the member to speak in such a situation was a discretion of the speaker “who made a sad decision today that, truth be told, was humiliating and terrible for me as a mother.”

“I insist on walking with pride and without shame, not to hide or be ashamed of my motherhood, but to prove to women everywhere that it is possible and necessary to normalize mothers everywhere, even in the Israeli Knesset,” she said.

Thousands of demonstrators in Israel took to the streets on Saturday to protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's proposed judicial overhaul that would provide the politicians with the power to select judges.

Though the controversial programme has not yet been approved as quickly as Netanyahu hoped, his government plans on pushing it through the changes.

Carrying banners reading 'Israel is burning' and calling Netanyahu the 'enemy of democracy', the protesters flooded and blocked the Tel Aviv highway disrupting traffic.

Talks were stalled last week after the opposition parties demanded the formation of the key panel for selecting judges.

Israeli PM, addressing his cabinet, said: “We gave a month and then another month and then another month - three months. Their (opposition) representatives did not agree to the most basic understandings. The intention was just to waste time.”&nbsp;

"Most of Israeli society understands that there need to be changes in the judicial system," he added. "That's why we will meet this week and commence with active steps ... in a measured way commensurate with the mandate we were given."

This comes as the proposed judicial overhaul, after months of protests and international criticism, was put on hold back in March when Netanyahu agreed to hold talks with the opposition.&nbsp;

However, the talks were stopped last week after the opposition leaders said negotiations would not move forward until the committee for the selection of judges which includes two politicians, three judges and two lawyers, is completed.&nbsp;

<h2>Israeli parliament vote</h2>

Last week, the opposition leaders had reportedly threatened to withdraw from negotiations with Netanyahu if their candidate, Karine Elharrar, was not named to the nine-member Judicial Appointments Committee to select the judges.&nbsp;

In a surprising turn of events at the Israeli parliament or Knesset where Netanyahu’s Likud party holds 64 of the 120 seats, several coalition members from his government voted in favour of the opposition’s pick for the committee-- Elharrar of the Yesh Atid party-- whose appointment to the nine-member panel is now secure with a 58-56 vote.&nbsp;

The committee typically comprises lawmakers from the coalition partners as well as the opposition but parts of the overhaul had demanded that Netanyahu’s Likud party, control both positions. However, this vote is being seen as a major blow to the Netanyahu government and exposed some divisions within the ruling coalition which has also raised questions about his control over his political allies.

The report seen by Reuters, says Russia killed at least 136 children in Ukraine last year and has since added Moscow’s forces to a global list of offenders.

<h2 dir="ltr">What was the report about?</h2>

The UN report, as per Reuters, said that at least 24,300 violations had been committed against children in 2022.&nbsp;

The annual report is about the treatment of children in conflict zones which is submitted to the 15-member UNSC and accounts attacks such as killing, maiming, sexual abuse, abduction or recruitment of children, denial of aid access and targeting of schools and hospitals.

The report was compiled by Virginia Gamba, United Nations chief Antonio Guterres’ special representative for children and armed conflict.&nbsp;

Notably, the so-called “list of shame” is intended to shame the parties involved in the conflict and hopes to push them to implement measures for protecting children during a war.&nbsp;

The report, in question, will be made public next week. It also reportedly noted most violations were in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, Somalia, Syria, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Haiti and Yemen.&nbsp;

Guterres in the report said that “non-state armed groups” were responsible for 50 per cent of the “grave violations,” adding that “government forces were the main perpetrator of the killing and maiming of children, attacks on schools and hospitals, and the denial of humanitarian access,” as quoted by Reuters.

<h2>What did it find about Russia and Ukraine?</h2>

According to the UN report, Russian armed forces and affiliated groups in addition to killing over 100 children, also maimed 518 children and carried out 480 attacks on schools and hospitals, reported Reuters.&nbsp;

The Russian forces have also been accused of using 91 children as human shields. Last year, as per the document, a total of 477 were killed in Ukraine and 909 were maimed, as per AFP.&nbsp;

On the other hand, the report also shows that Ukrainian armed forces killed 80 children, maimed 175 children and carried out 212 attacks on schools and hospitals, as per Reuters, but has not made it to the so-called “list of shame”.&nbsp;

Notably, Gamba visited Kyiv and Moscow where she met with Russia’s envoy for children’s rights, Maria Lvova-Belova who is currently wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes charges along with Russian President Vladimir Putin.&nbsp;

This comes after the ICC issued an arrest warrant against them, earlier this year, for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children and unlawful transfer of people from Ukraine to Russia since the beginning of the conflict over a year ago.

<h2>‘Particularly shocked…’: UN chief fumes over findings</h2>

In the document, as per reports, the UN chief said he is “appalled” by the high number of grave violations committed in Ukraine, last year. Guterres also said that he is “particularly disturbed” by such a number of offences committed against children by Ukrainian armed forces.&nbsp;

“I am particularly shocked by the high number of attacks on schools and hospitals and protected personnel, and by the high number of children killed and maimed attributed to the Russian forces and affiliated armed groups,” said Guterres about Russia, in the report, as quoted by AFP.&nbsp;

It is also worth noting that despite years of criticism and push by human rights organisations, Israel has not made it to the so-called list for killing dozens of Palestinian children. According to the UN report, Israeli forces killed 42 children last year, and 78 in 2021.&nbsp;

Addressing this the UN chief noted, a “meaningful decrease in the number of children killed by Israeli forces, including by air strikes.” “Nevertheless, I remain deeply concerned by the number of children killed and maimed by Israeli forces during hostilities,” Guterres said, as quoted by AFP. &nbsp;

What happened in West Bank on Wednesday?

In an apparent retaliation for the deadly Hamas shooting of four Israelis, Jewish settlers rampaged through Turmus Ayya near the West Bank’s Ramallah. The town is said to be a popular home to wealthy Palestinians, where images and videos show cars set on fire with black smoke swirling above and Palestinian youths throwing stones, reported Reuters.&nbsp;

A resident of TurmusAyya told AFP around “200 settlers” attacked the Palestinian town while the news agency also reported, scorched homes, buildings and wounded people being evacuated by ambulance. A resident Awad Abu Samra told AFP, that the “settlers shot at us and when the police and the Israeli army arrived they shot at us with rubber bullets and fired tear gas.”

The Palestinian health ministry in a statement said, “A martyr arrived at the Palestine Medical Complex from Turmus Ayya after being shot in the chest.” However, the man shot was not identified by the officials. Meanwhile, Palestinian media suggests it was 27-year-old Omar Qattin.&nbsp;

The health ministry also said that 12 others were wounded when the Palestinians clashed with Israeli settlers and troops. Among those injured, at least four were wounded by gunfire, including one listed in serious condition. In a statement, the Israeli military said they condemn the “serious incidents” of settler violence in Turmus Ayya.

It added, “Israeli citizens set fire to Palestinian property a short time ago in Turmus Ayya. Security forces entered the town to put out the fires, prevent friction and collect evidence.” However, they did not address the reports of Palestinians shot by Israeli army personnel.&nbsp;

According to the mayor of Turmus Ayya, as per media reports, some 60 cars and 30 homes were damaged and claimed that some 400 settlers carried out the attack on Wednesday.&nbsp;

The violence in Turmus Ayya erupted hours after hundreds of mourners gathered and laid to rest an Israeli teenager, 17-year-old, Nahman Mordof who was shot dead a day earlier by Palestinian gunmen near a Jewish settlement Shilo.&nbsp;

The teenager was one of four killed on Tuesday after Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a roadside restaurant and a gas station by Eli settlement before being shot dead. The responsibility for the attack was later claimed by the Islamist Hamas group which said that the two gunmen were members of its armed wing.&nbsp;

Among those killed on Monday was a 15-year-old boy Sadil Naghnaghiya. Meanwhile, seven Israeli personnel were wounded after their vehicle was attacked by a roadside bomb during the raid.&nbsp;

Palestinian killed after Israeli settlers attack town following deadly shooting in West Bank

The Israeli Army on Wednesday conducted a rare drone strike in the occupied West Bank region, killing three members of a 'terrorist cell' in the process.&nbsp;

Israel Defence Forces (IDF) acted on intel received and identified the cell&nbsp;“inside a suspicious vehicle", after it&nbsp;"carried out a shooting adjacent to the town of Jalamah” near Jenin in the northern West Bank

"IDF soldiers identified a terrorist cell inside a suspicious vehicle after the cell carried out a shooting adjacent to the town of Jalamah.&nbsp;Following the identification of the terrorist cell, an IDF UAV fired toward the cell and thwarted them," read a statement from the Israeli military.

Jenin Deputy Governor Kamal&nbsp;Abu al-Roub confirmed the killing, saying there were "three dismembered bodies" inside the car which had been hit by drone missiles.&nbsp;

<h2>First air strike since 2006</h2>

Despite the hostilities between the two sides, West Bank has remained largely unaffected by aerial strikes. This is the first strike by the Israeli side since August 2006, according to Palestinian agencies.&nbsp;

Notably, in February,&nbsp;Israel carried out a rare daytime arrest operation that triggered fighting in the occupied West Bank, killing at least 11 people and wounding more than 100.&nbsp;

Prior to the ground operation, both sides had fired projectiles that caused significant damage.&nbsp;At the time, many dubbed it as one of the deadliest escalations in the occupied West Bank since 2005.

Meanwhile, Hamas, a Palestinian Islamist group that has been using Gaza as a launchpad for attacks, condemned the move, adding it&nbsp;"will not give (Israel) legitimacy over our land. Our people will resist it by all means".

Notably, for a long time, Palestinians have been demanding the establishment of an independent state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip with&nbsp;East Jerusalem as the capital.&nbsp;

<h2>Netanyahu administration in overdrive&nbsp;&nbsp;</h2>

The US, a strong Israel&nbsp;ally had earlier requested the Netanyahu administration to halt settlement expansion as it sees as the step as an obstacle to peace with the Palestinians.&nbsp;&nbsp;

However, since coming to power again in January, Netanyahu has exacerbated the speed of approving housing units. As many as 7,00 new units have been approved by the coalition since the turn of the year. It has also amended a law that clears the path for the settlers to return to four settlements that had previously been evacuated.&nbsp;
