<p>The Bombay High Court today restrained the Maharashtra Cricket Association from drawing water from the Pavana river to maintain the Pune cricket stadium and held that the state government's decision permitting the association to do so was "illegal".</p>

<p>The MCA, for six years, has been drawing water from the Pavana river after signing an agreement with the state government. The water was used to maintain the pitch and ground of the stadium.<br />
As per the agreement between the state government and the MCA, the water was to be used for industrial purposes.</p>

<p>A division bench of Justices A S Oka and Riyaz Chagla today said that the state government was not entitled to grant permission to the MCA for industrial purposes.</p>

<p>"We are shocked to note that for a period of six years, the state government has allowed the MCA to draw water from the Pavana river for industrial purposes when admittedly the MCA is not running any industry. The water is being used for the stadium," the court said in its order.</p>

<p>"The government's action violates the principles of equitable distribution. The government is a trustee of water available in rivers," it said.</p>

"We are shocked to note that for a period of six years, the state government has allowed the MCA to draw water from the Pavana river for industrial purposes when admittedly the MCA is not running any industry. The water is being used for the stadium," the court said in its order. "The government's action violates the principles of equitable distribution. The government is a trustee of water available in rivers," it said. <p>Young cricket talent Shubham Gill and skipper Dinesh Karthik dominated the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai while chasing a target of 176.&nbsp</p>

<p>Dinesh Karthik played a skipper's knock and scored 45 runs off 18 balls to earn two crucial points for the team and led from the front to take his team to the victory side.</p>

<p>After receiving the "Man of the Match" for his splendid innings, Dinesh Karthik went to meet a very special fan to share his winning moments.&nbsp</p>

<p>But I always remember this day in regard to MS Dhoni. Dejected and down, I was discussing the match with my cricket freak friend.</p>

<p>"Will we ever see another 25th June 1983 in our lifetime?" I asked. My friend quipped, out of nowhere "Rest assured, Dhoni will bring many such moments for you in days to come."</p>

<p>No doubt that even by March 2007, MSD had proved his credentials but still comment of my friend was bit intriguing because during that match against Sri Lanka, Dhoni was out for a first ball duck and was at the centre of anger of fans.</p>

<p>Dhoni took just six months to vindicate my friend when under his captaincy India won T-20 World Cup in September 2007. The same Ranchi crowd who pelted his house six months back after the World Cup debacle was garlanding him.</p>

<p>In next six years, Dhoni achieved everything which he could have dreamt – ICC Cricket World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy and top ICC Test ranking.</p>

<p>Now, let's switch over the discussion to the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League. After half the tournament is over, what are the key takeaways?</p>

<p>The first takeaway is that Gambhir, Yuvraj and Raina now don't have anything to offer and their prospects for national duty are now zilch.&nbsp</p>

<p>Second is that Ambati Rayadu can be a suitable option for number four position in India's One Day International squad.</p>

<p>The third is that youngsters like Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill are good future prospects.</p>

<p>During an outstanding career, Dhoni created a sort of cult around him. His memorable six over the long-on that finished the final of 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup remains one of the defining moments of Indian cricket.</p>

<p>MSD is a man of strong conviction. When he announced his retirement from Test in early 2015, it was surprising. When India crashed out of 2015 Cricket World Cup, many believe that it is perhaps the end of Dhoni as well. But Dhoni had other ideas. He very well knows his strengths.</p>

<p>Of late during the past couple of years, fraternity started believing that Dhoni magic was waning. His finishing touch had lost and he was taking so many balls to get off the block. This is typical Dhoni's template.</p>

<p>He would cautiously take the innings to the end and then he would provide the massive final blow to seal things. In recent months though, this style of Dhoni failed at few occasions and fans were frowning.</p>

<p>But this IPL, it is a rejuvenated Dhoni. The typical Mahi mojo is back, with a bang. He is finishing the match for his side and the main difference is that he has seemed to have regained the knack of getting off the block without wasting many deliveries.</p>

<p>Young Rishabh Pant cracked a blistering 69 while captain Shreyas Iyer (50) hit his fourth half-century of the season as Delhi kept themselves in the race for IPL play-offs with a nervy four-run win over Rajasthan Royals at Feroz Shah Kotla.</p>

<p>Earlier, Rajasthan won the toss and opted to bowl first and invited Delhi to bat but were guilty of feeding the home batsmen with deliveries either too short or too full, making the job easy for the hosts after rain made it an 18-overs per side affair.</p>

<p>Rain brought a premature end to the Delhi's innings when the hosts were 196 for six in 17.1 overs and Rajasthan set a revised target of 151 from 12 overs under Duckworth/Lewis method.</p>

<p>After receiving some battering from Joss Buttler, who thrashed the home bowlers with seven sixes and four fours in his 67-run knock, Delhi restricted the Rajasthan to 146 for five to notch up the win.</p>

<p>Delhi have now moved up to sixth from the eighth position with this win.</p>

<p>Young Prithvi Shaw (47) was yet again in sublime touch and raised a 73-run stand with his captain for the second wicket after the side lost Colin Munro (0) in the fourth ball of the innings.</p>
