'CSK has helped me improve in everything': MS Dhoni credits his IPL team for his success

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is "very much on schedule"," BCCI President Sourav Ganguly told PTI on Friday, asserting that all measures will be in place to tackle the rapidly-spreading novel coronavirus threat which has wreaked havoc on sporting calendars globally.

The glitzy T20 event, featuring both Indian and international stars, gets underway on March 29 in Mumbai. India's coronavirus patient count currently stands at 31, including 16 Italian tourists.

Internationally, the deadly outbreak has so far killed more than 3,300 people and infected nearly 100,000 in about 85 countries.

"County teams are travelling all over the world. They are travelling to Abu Dhabi, UAE to play. So there is no problem," he added.

Asked about the precautionary measures to ensure that players and fans are not affected, Ganguly said a medical team is thrashing out the specifics.

"We will take all precautions. I don't know exactly what are the extra measures. It's only medical team which will tell us about that," he said.

"The medical team is already in touch with the hospitals so that everything is available. We will do what the doctors say. They are the professionals.

"All medical issues will be addressed by the medical team. Every tournament will go on," he added.

Indian fast bowler Shanthakumaran&nbsp;Sreesanth's life ban for his alleged involvement in the spot-fixing scandal has been reduced to seven years. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Ombudsman Justice (retired) DK Jain announced today.&nbsp;

The Indian cricketer has been accused of&nbsp;alleged involvement in the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scandal and was banned along with Rajasthan Royals teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.&nbsp;

Sreesanth has maintained that all the charges against him are false.&nbsp;

But now the pacer, who will be 37-year-old by the time ban ends, can have a sigh of relief as he can resume&nbsp;his cricketing career either as a player,&nbsp;coach or&nbsp;commentator&nbsp;from next year.&nbsp;

"I am of the view that banning Sreesanth from participating in any kind of commercial cricket or from associating with any activities of BCCI or its affiliates, for a period of 7 years with effect from September 13, 2013," ANI quoted Justice (retired) DK Jain as saying.&nbsp;

Justice (retired) Jain also made it clear that the pacer has already served the punishment for six years, hence the ban now will end in August next year.&nbsp;

"The date from which, the period of ban imposed by the Disciplinary Committee had commenced, will meet the ends of justice," Justice Jain added.&nbsp;

Earlier, the apex court observed that the conduct of Sreesanth, facing a life ban, in the entire episode was "not good".

In March this year, the top court had set aside the BCCI disciplinary committee's to reconsider order imposing a life ban on Sreesanth for his alleged involvement in the matter.&nbsp;

He has played 27 tests, 53 one-day internationals and 10 Twenty20 internationals, claiming a total of 169 wickets.

While off-spinner Harbhajan made a praiseworthy revelation that Watson played with a bleeding knee.&nbsp;

Singh shared a picture on his Instagram story and wrote, "Can you guys see the blood on his knee... he got 6 stitches after the game... got injured while diving but continue to bat without telling anyone."

Watson got six stitches after the final against eventual champions Mumbai Indians in this year's edition of the IPL.&nbsp;

While Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai didn't attend the IPL final between Mumbai and Chennai, other two members Diana and Lt Gen (retd) Ravi Thodge were present in Hyderabad.

"Edulji gave away the winners' trophy at the Women's T20 Challenge in Jaipur and she wanted to give away the trophy here also.

However, it was learnt that Khanna showed an e-mail from acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhry to IPL COO Hemang Amin, stating that convention of president giving away the trophy could be followed," a BCCI official privy to the incident told PTI on the conditions of anonymity.

When Rai was asked for his view on the issue, he in turn asked whether there was any need to change the convention.

"It was Lt Gen Thodge, who categorically told the former India women's team captain that acting president Khanna should be allowed to handover the trophy and the matter should be put to an end. She was certainly not happy but had to go with the majority view in this case," said another BCCI source.

Rai and Edulji have had their share of differences on most of the issues and the CoA has been able to take a few concrete decisions of late after Lt Gen Thodge joined the panel.&nbsp;

When Khanna was contacted, he refused to comment on the issue while calls to Edulji went unanswered.
