<p>"One thing is certain: where there’s a will, there’s a way, and the better players are dedicated to finding a solution," Chappell wrote in a column for ESPNcricinfo.com.</p>

<p>"In case of Indian players, and some of the Australians, they will at least have some challenging IPL cricket in the lead-up to the December series." Chappell admitted the IPL "may not seem like ideal preparation for a tough Test series in Australia" but he recalled the thoughts of former England batsman Ravi Bopara in 2009.</p>

<p>"After a stint in the IPL, Bopara was asked on return to England if this was appropriate preparation for a Test match. He responded by saying that 'looking to score at every opportunity gets your feet moving positively'. He proved his point emphatically by scoring back-to-back centuries against West Indies."</p>

<p>According to Chappel, health and safety protocols in place will make it difficult for visiting teams to prevail over home sides in the COVID-19 era. "With venue bubbles, isolation rules, social distancing, and a number of changes to playing conditions, adapting to international competition has been testing for players. It's made life difficult and different even in a team environment but imagine the individual’s dilemma in enforced isolation with a tour looming," he said.</p>

<p>"The physical preparation is not so difficult, especially for self-starters, but how do you stay in cricket shape?"</p>

<p>However, the 76-year-old legend the Indians very well understand the stakes associated with the tour of Australia and will leave no stone unturned in their preparations for the series.</p>

<p>“The Indian players could well adopt this attitude for a series in Australia that will impact the Border-Gavaskar trophy, the World Test Championship, and their personal pride. It’s unlikely India will have the luxury of lead-up matches against tough opposition. More likely it will be intra-squad games, which can be helpful if selection is judicious and pits good bowlers against equally talented batsmen. The downside is the fast bowlers are often wary of injuring their own players," said the former captain.</p>

<p>India will be visiting Australia after the IPL for a tour on November 10. The heavyweights will clash in a T20 series followed by four Tests and ODIs. The IPL begins in Abu Dhabi on September 19.</p>

<p>“Deepak Chahar has returned two negative tests for Covid 19 and is back in team bubble,” CSK CEO KS Viswanathan told PTI on Wednesday.</p>

<p>“Now as per BCCI protocol he will undergo a cardio vascular test which will be an indicator of his recovery. After that he will have another Covid Test and if he is negative he can join the training,” Viswanathan said. Deepak has completed 14 day isolation in a separate hotel.</p>

<p>Asked how many more days will it take for the seamer to comeback, Viswanathan said, “It depends on his recovery. I cant put a timeline but another four days minimum. But it’s not confirmed.”</p>

<p>Confederation of All India Traders have written to the government. The letter has gone to Home Minister Amit shah --- as well as External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar. They claim that BCCI decision “smacks of its lust for money”. The confederation wants the permission to the BCCI withdrawn.</p>

<p>The IPL starts on the 19th of September. The tournament will be moved to the UAE this year. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will be the three venues for the money-spinning tournament.</p>

<h2><strong>Why can’t the BCCI dump Vivo?</strong></h2>

<p>Since 2018 --- the board received close to INR 3,300 crores for media rights. More than 400 million dollars. It earns 700 crores in sponsorships. That's 93 million dollars. Vivo pays the board 440 crores for the title sponsorship per year. Or 58 million dollars. All of this, doesn’t go into BCCI’s pocket.</p>

<p>That’s the kind of money that the BCCI makes from the tournament. It can afford to let go of the 440 crores from Vivo.</p>

<p>But, it hasn’t. Reportedly, it was too late for the BCCI to take a call. There are also fears of legal liabilities too. In 2018, Vivo had secured the title sponsorship for the IPL for five years. With a mammoth bid of INR 2,199 crores. That's close to $300 million.</p>

<p>Allegedly - the exit clause in the contract favours the Chinese company.&nbsp;Cricket is more than a sport for India. It is a religion. You must have heard that often.</p>

<p>But, it is also a diplomatic tool. Used to send a message to India’s adversaries. The Indian cricket team doesn’t play with Pakistan. Pakistani players are banned from the IPL.</p>

<p>“It’s at a very preliminary stage but if IPL happens in India and by October, the situation is under control in Mumbai, there are four top-class floodlit grounds available in Mumbai. The logistics for BCCI, broadcasters, maintaining a bio-bubble, everything could be managed smoothly,” another BCCI official told PTI.</p>

<p>“IPL has also been a very forward-looking and flexible tournament and that has to be maintained during the COVID situation. Going back to 2009, within one month we switched from India to South Africa,” said &nbsp;Wadia.</p>

<p>With cases rising in India, hosting the IPL overseas could be a better option. UAE and Sri Lanka provide good infrastructure for the league to be shifted outside.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“IPL is one of the greatest engagers. More people watched the IPL last year than those who voted for general elections. For sponsors, cricket is a leader and it will lead the way. The recovery will be sharper than a V-shaped recovery,” said Johri at a webinar.</p>

<p>“The flavour of IPL is that best players in the world come and play, and everyone is committed to maintaining that flow. But it will be a step-by-step process. We can’t expect normalisation tomorrow,” he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Upton termed IPL as a cash cow while adding that anxiety and depression arise within normal people when they tend to focus too much on themselves and the problems they are having. He further advised them to focus on other people and care for them while looking for opportunities that are available during this unprecedented scenario.</p>

I would really caution not only athletes but everyone, to use their awareness to guard against this very normal threat. The way to overcome it is to focus on other people, caring for them, and at the same time to look for opportunities that are available due to this additional time,” he said.</p>

The way to overcome it is to focus on other people, caring for them, and at the same time to look for opportunities that are available due to this additional time,” he said.
