India skipper Rohit Sharma believes that their recent 2-0 whitewash against Bangladesh at home in two Tests was an exceptional series. This comes on the back of India forcing a win in the second Test in Kanpur despite two and a half days of rain. After the first day saw only 35 overs being&nbsp;bowled, India went on to win the match by seven wickets.

"It was a clear plan that we want the result, how we can get the result. Everybody started finding answers for that. I think it was an exceptional series. It may go unnoticed," Sharma said in a video shared by bcci.tv.

India's batting in the first innings in Kanpur was exceptional where they recorded fastest 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 by a team in Test before declaring with a lead of 52 runs.

"For me aggression is all about your actions," he said. "It's not about my reactions: the kind of batting we do, the kind of field positioning we do, the kind of bowling we do; that to me is aggression."

Rohit, however, asserted that things started with taking remaining seven wickets of opposition quickly to give the batters a chance to score at brisk pace.

"Look, without the help of the other ten players, and, obviously people who are sitting in the dressing room as well, this wouldn't have been possible when we had lost two days, two-and-a-half days actually, it's very easy for everyone to just drift away from the goal that we had of winning this test match. When we came here on the fourth day of the morning, first things first, they [Bangladesh] were batting and we needed to get them out. We needed seven wickets quickly, so I thought everything started there," the skipper added.

'Everything started there...,' India skipper Rohit shares turning point in Kanpur Test against Bangladesh

Rohit Sharma opened up on his leadership style following India's 2-0 Test series win over Bangladesh. Rohit, who was appointed as the all-format skipper in early 2022, revealed that he allows other players to give suggestions but takes the final call,&nbsp;trusting&nbsp;his gut feeling.&nbsp;Hitman's captaincy was praised by one and all after India beat Bangladesh in the second and final Test, in Kanpur, to inflict a series whitewash. The Kanpur Test was a rain-marred affair, with no play on Day 2 and 3, but Rohit &amp; Co. dismissed Bangla Tigers for 233 on the penultimate day and batted aggressively, scoring more than eight an over, to take a 52-run lead and then dismiss the visitors for 146. Chasing 95, India chased down the target&nbsp;to win by seven wickets on the final day.

Rohit was hailed for instilling a fearless attitude in India's batting line-up, as they scored 285/9 in 34.4 overs, and earned a win despite two washed-out days (due to rain and a wet outfield). Recently, Rohit spilled the beans on his leadership and how he operates with his players&nbsp;in terms of taking decisions on the field.

Rohit told BCCI.tv, "I have been (out) there enough to trust my judgements on what I do. The decisions that I take on the field, I then go by it. Obviously there are players around me who are open to giving suggestions but, at the end of the day, I trust my mind and my judgement and that's all that matters when you are playing."

The India Test and ODI skipper also hailed his side's catching during the just-concluded Bangladesh series. The home team plucked out some blinders in the series finale. Rohit said, "It may go unnoticed, but I was just informed 24 catches came our way, and we took 23, great result, especially in India, where the ball doesn't carry in slips and because they were standing way ahead than they normally do. The catches are hard to take as reaction time is very less."

"And I have seen everyone put in lot of effort in getting those things right. (T) Dilip (fielding coach) is actually helping the players with some crucial catches that's turning the game around," he added.

Rohit-led India's next Test assignment is a three-match series versus New Zealand at home, starting Oct 16 in Bengaluru.

Speaking to Sports18, Rahul stated, "The message was very clear from the start. We lost a couple of days due to rain. Most of the game was lost to weather, but we wanted to see what we could do in the time that was left. The plan was simple: find a way to play for the win. We lost a couple of wickets, but since Rohit's message was so clear that it didn't matter if we got out, we tried to do that."

Rahul understood the requirement from captain Rohit as he scored an impressive 43-ball 68 whereas Yashasvi Jaiswal (51-ball 72), Virat Kohli (35-ball 47) enabled India to score 285/9 in less than 35 overs.

His message was...: Rahul on how Rohit's pep talk motivated India to breathe life into rain-marred Kanpur Test

India beat Bangladesh by seven wickets while chasing a paltry 95 on Day 5 of the second and final Test, at Green Park, Kanpur, on Tuesday (Oct 1) to sweep the series 2-0. A result looked improbable when play resumed on Day 4 after the preceding two days were washed out due to rain and wet outfield. Bangladesh were 107-3 at stumps on Day 1 and resumed the penultimate day, on Monday (Sep 30), from there on. The Indian bowlers combined&nbsp;to dismiss&nbsp;the visitors for 233. In response, Rohit Sharma-led India went into the top gear&nbsp;and scored at over eight runs an over and declared&nbsp;at 285/9, notched up&nbsp;in just 34.4 overs, and closed the day's play by reducing the opposition to 26/2. On the final day, India bundled out Bangladesh for 146 and chased down a paltry 95 in style. While the Indian bowlers shined in the win, the batters' aggressive play breathed life into the rain-marred contest. Hence, Rohit explained the approach and thought behind India's belligerent batting.

<h2>'We were ready for it even if we got bowled out for 100-150'</h2>

At the post-match presentation, Rohit said, "Once we lost two and a half days, when we came on day 4, we wanted to get them out as quickly as possible and see what we can do with the bat. When they got bowled out for 230, it wasn't about the runs we got but the overs we got at them. Pitch didn't have much. To make a game out of it on that pitch was a superb effort. It was a risk we were willing to take because when you're trying to bat like that, you can be bundled out for a low score. But we were ready for it even if we got bowled out for 100-150."

In the Bangla Tigers' second essay, the Najmul Shanto-led side were clueless in front of Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja as the trio shared nine wickets amongst them. "The great Shakib Al Hasan has already announced that he has played his last T20I for Bangladesh," Ashraf said. "We don't have anyone to replace his experience and performance but we feel that Mehidy Hasan Miraz is a good batter who can handle the middle order. Mehidy can play as a batter. We didn't pick him in the previous [T20] World Cup as we usually feel that he has a strong role as an allrounder in Tests and ODIs.”

Miraz, a constant feature in the ODIs and Test squad has not played in the T20Is since last July which also saw him miss the T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies. The third day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur was called off without any play on Sunday (Sep 29) due to wet outfield. The first day of the Test was also curtailed to only 35 overs before early stumps due to rain interruption while no play happened on second day due to persistent rain.

There was no rain on third day but the start of play was delayed due to wet outfield. The umpires made an inspection at 10 am local time and deemed the ground condition unfit to play. The second inspection was done at 12 pm local time and the conditions hadn't improved enough yet for the play, cancelling the second session as well.

After the final inspection at 2 pm, the umpires called it a day without play for the second time in two days.

Bangladesh scored 107/3 in 35 overs on day 1 with pacer Akash Deep taking two of those wickets and spinner Rai Ashwin taking the third one - his 420th wicket in Asia.

Both the teams read the pitch differently as suggested by their playing XI selection. India are unchanged from the first Test in Chennai where they played three pacers in Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep.&nbsp;

Bangladesh, on the other hand, are playing three spinners in the second Test as opposed to two in the first Test.

The two-match series, however, is 1-0 in favour of India after they won the Chennai Test by 280 runs in nearly three and a half days.

With only two more days left in the Tests, a draw seems the most plausible outcome, giving India a series win.

Both the teams have read the pitch differently as suggested by their playing XI selection. India are unchanged from the first Test in Chennai where they played three pacers in Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep. Bangladesh, on the other hand, are playing three spinners in the second Test as opposed to two in the first Test. The two-match series, however, is 1-0 in favour of India after they won the Chennai Test by 280 runs in nearly three and a half days.

However, it was an off-field issue that raised eyebrows as Bangladesh’s popular mascot Tiger Roby was escorted by police from the stadium.

Shadman Islam soon followed him as he was dismissed for 24 off 36 balls. The partnership of skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (31) and Mominul Haque restructured the innings.

Young India pacer Akash Deep lauded Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and told they are considered 'gods of cricket' ahead of the second and final Test versus Bangladesh in Kanpur. Akash was part of India's 280-run win over Bangladesh in the series opener, in Chennai, where he returned with two scalps following his Test debut early this year, versus England where he claimed a three-fer. Further, he&nbsp;termed the star duo&nbsp;as inspirational figures&nbsp;for keeping him motivated to work harder.

Akash also revealed that he is not thinking about his selection for the forthcoming five-match Test series versus the Aussies, in Australia. After the home series versus Bangladesh and New Zealand (including three Tests), India are set to travel Down Under for the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Akash, however, revealed that he is not thinking ahead and wants to live in the present.

IND vs BAN: Authorities deem stand at Green Park stadium, second Test venue, in Kanpur unsafe

India thrashed Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test, in Chennai, with R Ashwin shining with match figures of 6 for 117&nbsp;and a brilliant 113. Along with him, there were many performers for India, with Ravindra Jadeja slamming an impressive 86, and adding 199 runs for the seventh wicket with Ashwin in the first innings, whereas Shubman Gill (119) and Rishabh Pant (109) also scored a century each in the second essay after Rohit Sharma-led hosts' 227-run lead. Chasing 515, Najmul Shanto-led Bangla Tigers folded for 234 to lose by a big margin.&nbsp;

Among the top performers, Pant stood out as he was on a Test return. Since his comeback to the national side, after battling injuries in a horrific car crash in December 2022, the left-hander has been part of India's white-ball squad, but many awaited his Test return, given his red-ball success. On seeing him slam his sixth Test ton on comeback, former Pakistan speedster Wasim Akram hailed the 26-year-old and called him a 'miracle kid'.

Speaking at a media interaction, as quoted by Hindustan Times, Akram said that people in Pakistan were concerned for the wicketkeeper after he got involved in a horrific accident in 2022. The legendary pacer, however, stated that he is in&nbsp;awe of how Pant bounced back and has performed since his return to competitive cricket (which happened in IPL 2024).&nbsp;

Akram said, "Look at Pant’s performance, the miracle that he has performed by showing he is superhuman by returning from his tragedy. Hailing&nbsp;Pant, Akram further pointed out the way he plays Test cricket&nbsp;and how he has managed to dominate bowlers such as James Anderson and Pat Cummins in his short career.

"Especially what he has been through in that horrific accident, coming back from that, how mentally strong must that boy be? The way he used to play in Test cricket, the way he performed in Australia with the century then (in 2018/19). The way he batted against England, playing a reverse-sweep against Anderson in Test cricket, even Cummins. He’s special," the former Pakistan captain added.

He’s a miracle kid: Wasim Akram LAUDS Rishabh Pant's stunning comeback, sublime ton in Chennai Test

On Sunday (Sep 22), India beat Bangladesh by 280 runs on Day 4 of the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Courtesy of R Ashwin's 113, India posted 376&nbsp;and bundled out&nbsp;Bangladesh for a paltry 149 before declaring their second innings at 287 for 4, due to centuries from Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill. First time in 92 years! India attain MAJOR Test milestone after big win over Bangladesh in Chennai

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the second Test against Bangladesh, making no changes in the 16-man team from the first Test. The second Test starts on September 27 in Kanpur.

There were some talks of KL Rahul being replaced in the squad after he failed in the first innings of the Chennai Test, scoring just 16 runs.

The board, however, seems okay to give him another chance or might replace him with Sarfaraz Khan in the Playing XI who is already in the squad.

The announcement comes shortly after India wrapped up the first Test in Chennai with a 280-run shortly before lunch on day 4 (Sep 22).

Bangladesh resumed day 4 from the overnight score of 158/4 with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on the crease.

It was Ravi Ashwin who broke the 48-run partnership to dismiss Shakib for 25. The visitors gave in soon after that with Ravindra Jadeja removing Litton Das in quick succession.

Ashwin then dismissed Mehidy Hasan Miraz to complete his five-for before Jadeja removed Shanto (82) to dash any remaining resistance from Bangladesh. The spinners then took one each of the rest of the two wickets to wrap up the Bangladesh innings.

Chasing a daunting 515, Bangladesh were bowled out for 234 with Ravi Ashwin taking his 37th career five-for. Ashwin, who had scored a century in the first innings, finished with the figures of 6/88. Ashwin was also adjudged Player of the Match for his all-rounder performance.

It was Pant’s sixth in the red-ball format having only returned to the format after 21 months. He was later dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 109 as India’s lead was on the verge of 500. KL Rahul remained unbeaten at 22 while Gill carried his bat on 119 before Rohit Sharma declared at 287/4. Miraz scalped two wickets while Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana bagged one each. IND vs BAN, 1st Test: WATCH | Yashasvi Jaiswal takes SENSATIONAL catch off Jasprit Bumrah's bowling

India star batter Virat Kohli's rut of form continued in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai after he got dismissed for 17 runs in second innings on Friday (Sep 20). Kohli got out to right arm off spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz and former India coach Ravi Shastri pointed out what can help the batter.

"He has [gotten out to spinners] especially in the last 2-3 years. But he has scored a lot of runs too. What you want to see him do more is use his feet. Get to the pitch of the ball, probably employ the sweep. You’ve got to move with the times, don’t be afraid to go over the top when the field is up. You could try and do things to unsettle the spinners rather than allowing him to keep bowling at you. It’s what he did a lot when he scored a lot of runs," Shastri said while commentating on air post Kohli's dismissal.

It is to be noted that the Indian batter was out for&nbsp;six runs in the first innings while chasing an expensive cover drive off pacer Hasan Mahmud.

Shastri also pointed out that pitches have not been easy in India to score runs in the recent times and sometimes the batters have been unlucky with the dismissals as well.

"Also some of the tracks that India have played on. It’s not been easy. Plus I know a few dismissals where like Shubman Gill in the first innings, he’s gotten caught down leg wide. Funny dismissals. He’ll be aware of it. That’s for sure. There is no batter who doesn’t remember. Obviously you find a method of finding a solution. Find out what works for you and stick with that," added Shastri.

IND vs BAN: Ravindra Jadeja eyes special feat at Chepauk, says 'it's good opportunity to take 300th wicket'

It was a chaotic day at the office for India’s legendary batter Virat Kohli after he was dismissed in a freak manner in the final session of Day 2 in the ongoing first Test match against Bangladesh. Batting in the second innings on Day 2, Virat was dismissed for 17 off 37 after stand-in umpire Richard Kettleborough deemed him lbw. However, replays suggested that Virat had hit the ball with his bat before the ball hit his pads while he did not opt for the Decision Review System (DRS).

<h2>Rohit, Kettleborough stunned by Virat’s dismissal</h2>

On the second ball of the 20th over, Virat was deemed lbw by Kettleborough which saw the Indian batter out. However, his strange call to not take DRS came as a surprise for many including Rohit Sharma. Replays clearly showed that he had hit the ball before it hit the pads raising eyebrows. Rohit who was dismissed for 5 earlier and sitting in the dressing room was furious and discontent with the decision.

On the flip side, Kettleborough was seen giving a broad smile as he realised his mistake of giving him out. The Englishman has been an eccentric figure in India’s ICC matches while the Men in Blue have been on the receiving end.
