His message was...: Rahul on how Rohit's pep talk motivated India to breathe life into rain-marred Kanpur Test

On Day 4 of the second and final Test between India and Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma & Co. dismissed the Bangla Tigers for 233 with an all-round bowling show, led by Jasprit Bumrah. After asking the visitors to bat first, at Green Park, Kanpur, India had them reeling at 107 for 3 at stumps on the opening day before rain and wet outfield played spoilsport in the next two days. With the weather wasting a lot of time, India batted aggressively on the penultimate day, on Monday (Sep 30),to score more than eight runs an over in response to Najmal Shanto-led Bangladesh's 233 and declared at 285/9. At stumps,India reduced Bangladesh to 26/2, leading by another 26.Ahead of the final day, on Tuesday (Oct 1),KL Rahul revealed how captain Rohit's message motivated India to bat aggressively and push for a win following the rain delays.

Speaking to Sports18, Rahul stated, "The message was very clear from the start. We lost a couple of days due to rain. Most of the game was lost to weather, but we wanted to see what we could do in the time that was left. The plan was simple: find a way to play for the win. We lost a couple of wickets, but since Rohit's message was so clear that it didn't matter if we got out, we tried to do that."

Rahul understood the requirement from captain Rohit as he scored an impressive 43-ball 68 whereas Yashasvi Jaiswal (51-ball 72), Virat Kohli (35-ball 47) enabled India to score 285/9 in less than 35 overs.

Rohit walked the talk as well as the right-hander commenced his inning with two big sixes in the first two deliveries before falling for 23 (11). At the time of publishing this report, India have commenced their chase of 95 after bundling out Bangla Tigers for a paltry 146 in 47 overs on Tuesday. Bumrah, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took a three-fer each to keep India on course for a big win.

India look setto end the series 2-0. The home side won the series opener, in Chennai, by 280 runs.
