There are two charges from his participation in the last two editions of the CPL while being a part of St Kitts &amp; Nevis Patriots and Barbados Royals, respectively. One of the charges is, again, failing to disclose a corrupt approach. The second charge concerns failing to report the "receipt of any gift, payment, hospitality or benefit (a) that he knew or should have known was made in order to procure a breach of the CPL Code, or (b) could have brought the player or the game of cricket into disrepute."

ICC suspends West Indies batsman Devon Thomas over multiple corruption charges, including match-fixing

Ukraine is investigating Belarus' suspected involvement in the forced transfer of minors from Russian-occupied territory, the prosecutor general's office said on Tuesday (May 23).

The declaration followed an allegation by the exiled Belarusian opposition saying that 2,150 Ukrainian children, including orphans aged six to 15, had been shipped to so-called recreation camps and sanatoriums in Belarus.

Based on the early assessment of the National Anti-Crisis Management, a group of political opponents of President Alexander Lukashenko's regime, the children were transferred to at least three locations in Belarus.

The office of Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin has opened criminal procedures into "the forced transportation/deportation of over 19,000 children" from the seized areas of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Luhansk, as per a Reuters report.&nbsp;

"The fact and circumstances of taking Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to the so-called 'recreational camps' in Belarus are currently under investigation in the mentioned criminal proceedings," it said.

<h2>What are the violations involved?</h2>

The International Criminal Court, the world's permanent war crimes tribunal, issued arrest warrants in March for Russian President Vladimir Putin and his children's rights ombudsman, Maria Lvova-Belova, on two charges of war crimes in connection with the relocation of hundreds of Ukrainian children to Russia.

In the words of Yulia Ioffe, an assistant professor at University College London and an expert in children's rights legislation, if the allegations are proven, Belarus would "highly likely" be violating the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

"The actions of Belarus may also amount to the crime against humanity of ‘deportation of forcible transfer of population’ under the Rome Statute of the ICC, provided there is sufficient evidence of forcible transfers being widespread or systematic," Ioffe said.

Belarus, in any case, cannot be deemed a neutral nation to which children might lawfully be evacuated because there is no proof that Ukraine has provided authorisation, she added.

As per&nbsp;the report, Ukrainian children were brought to the Belarusian Golden Sands Sanatorium in the Gomel area, as well as the Ostroshitsky Gorodok Sanatorium and Dubrava camp in the Minsk region.

Additionally,&nbsp;the first group of roughly 350 youngsters arrived from the seized Donetsk area on September 5 and 6, followed by the second and third groups in late September and mid-October. Additional transfers were performed in April and May of this year.

The children were transported&nbsp;by bus to Russia from Russian-held territories of Ukraine and then by train to Belarus, it said.

"Lukashenko personally ordered the transfers of orphans to Belarus and facilitated their arrival by financial and organisational support," it said, accusing him of war crimes.

He added that ICC must play a role in settling this nonplus issue that will lead towards the darker end for Tests if not resolved at the earliest.

"It is not the case in India, England and Australia. You are paid well to play Test cricket for your country, and most aspire to play the Test match game. There is a role to play for the ICC here.

"...make the payments bit more even across international Test cricket to attract players from these different countries who want to play for their country," Ponting said, as quoted by PTI.

Although he mentioned that talks at the highest level are ongoing on this topic, Ponting said with countries like India and Australia investing in the longest format, both are far from facing such a scenario.

"It is something that has been spoken about at a very high level at the ICC to help that, but in India the feeling I get is that most of these youngsters aspire to wear the baggy blue cap and the same in Australia," Ponting concluded.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has shown his disappointment over the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) model of revenue distribution. Sethi has demanded an explanation from the ICC's finance and commercial affairs committee, headed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah on how the model will work out. The proposed model will work from 2024 to 2027 where the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will earn a whopping 38.5 percent while Pakistan will get 5.75 percent of the bulk revenue.

"We are insisting that the ICC should tell us how these figures were arrived at," PCB chairman Najam Sethi told Reuters.

"We are not happy with the situation as it stands. Come June, when the board is expected to approve the financial model unless these details are provided to us, we are not going to approve it."

The proposed model will come into effect in 2024 if approved in the June meeting of the board of ICC. It is thought that Pakistan won’t cast its vote in the meeting if there is no clarity on the revenue-sharing model. India is set to be benefited the most from the model while Pakistan is one of the lowest earners on the list.

The 12 full members of the ICC would collectively get 88.81%, while the rest would be distributed among its 96 associate members, Reuters reported.

He is supremely confident about his own ability. The fact that he is fully fit now makes a massive difference. Form plays an important role. Pacer Mohammed Siraj is the only Indian bowler in ODI rankings, as he managed to hold onto his third position.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's strong white-ball form against Sri Lanka has been rewarded with a host of their key performers making significant gains in the latest ICC Men's Player Rankings.

The Black Caps registered an impressive 2-0 victory over the Asian side during the recent ODI component of their series and key pacer Matt Henry was one of their strongest performers with an eye-catching haul of 3/14 in the final game in Hamilton.

Henry's solid showing helped him rise five places to fifth overall on the list for ODI bowlers, with the 31-year-old now just 29 rating points behind Australia's Pat Cummins as the No.1 ranked 50-over bowler in the world.

Teammate Daryl Mitchell made a five-spot gain to equal 21st on the T20I batter rankings following his quickfire knock of 66 in the first match of the T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka has been more competitive in the T20I matches in New Zealand and even pinched a dramatic Super Over victory over the Black Caps in the opening match of that series and a pair of their players have been rewarded.

Attacking middle-order dasher Charith Asalanka has moved up 12 places to 23rd on the list for T20I batters. He had scored a quickfire 67 of 41 balls, with two fours and six sixes in the first T20I. Also, pacer Maheesh Theekshana jumped three places to 10th on the bowler charts after an economical showing of 1/22 from four overs during that first match of the series in Auckland.

Any attempt to arrest Putin will be declaration of war, says former Russian president Medvedev

The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 edition is keenly awaited. Every team is preparing hard for the marquee event which will be held in India entirely. As per a report, the 50-over marquee tournament is set to kick off in early October and will end by mid-November.&nbsp;

As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, the 2023 ODI WC will commence on&nbsp;October 05 whereas the finale will be held on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad. The same report also suggested that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the host of the ten-team tournament, has finalised as many as a dozen venues for the showpiece event.

Apart from Ahmedabad, the shortlisted cities are&nbsp;Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, and Mumbai. It is to be noted that the tournament will be held in the round-robin stage, just like the 2019 edition, and will&nbsp;consist of&nbsp;48 matches including three knockouts across a 46-day period.

Why the delay from BCCI?

The BCCI has not specified venues for any games as of now, nor the two or three cities where the&nbsp;warm-up encounters will take place. It is learned that the delay in finalising the venues has been due to the threat posed by the monsoon season receding at different points across the nation.&nbsp;

The International Cricket Council (ICC) usually&nbsp;shares the World Cup schedules, at least, a year in the run-up to the event. However, much to the surprise of cricket fans worldwide, it hasn't been the case this time around. The wait has been prolonged as the Indian cricket board is&nbsp;yet to&nbsp;get the necessary clearance from the&nbsp;government.

The BCCI needs to get a tax exemption for hosting the mega&nbsp;tournament, and also acquire visa clearance for Team Pakistan. The Asian giants have not played a bilateral series in India since early 2013 and their last visit to their neighbouring country was during the 2016 T20 World Cup in India.

As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, the 2023 ODI WC will commence on October 05 whereas the finale will be held on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad. The same report also suggested that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the host of the ten-team tournament, has finalised as many as a dozen venues for the showpiece event. Apart from Ahmedabad, the shortlisted cities are Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, and Mumbai. It is to be noted that the tournament will be held in the round-robin stage, just like the 2019 edition, and will consist of 48 matches including three knockouts across a 46-day period. The BCCI has not specified venues for any games as of now, nor the two or three cities where the warm-up encounters will take place. It is learned that the delay in finalising the venues has been due to the threat posed by the monsoon season receding at different points across the nation. The International Cricket Council (ICC) usually shares the World Cup schedules, at least, a year in the run-up to the event. However, much to the surprise of cricket fans worldwide, it hasn't been the case this time around. The wait has been prolonged as the Indian cricket board is yet to get the necessary clearance from the government. The BCCI needs to get a tax exemption for hosting the mega tournament, and also acquire visa clearance for Team Pakistan. The Asian giants have not played a bilateral series in India since early 2013 and their last visit to their neighbouring country was during the 2016 T20 World Cup in India.

The Hague-based ICC said it had also issued a warrant against Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Office of the President of the Russian Federation,&nbsp;on similar charges.&nbsp;

The statement issued by the court said that Putin "is allegedly responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of population (children) and that of unlawful transfer of population (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation."

Ukraine’s presidency welcomed the International Criminal Court’s decision and said that this was just an initial step in restoring justice.

“The Hague Chamber of the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin. This is just the beginning,” Ukraine’s presidential chief of staff Andriy Yermak said on social media.

Ukraine’s chief prosecutor echoed the sentiment.

“The world received a signal that the Russian regime is criminal and its leadership and henchmen will be held accountable,” Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin said in a statement on social media. 
 
“This is a historic decision for Ukraine and the entire system of international law,” Kostin added.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Ukrainian&nbsp;President Volodymyr Zelensky hailed the decision. "This is an historic decision which will lead to historic accountability. The head of the terrorist state and another official have officially become suspects in a war crimes case," he said.

"In criminal cases that are being investigated by our law enforcement there are more than 16,000 instances of forcible deportation of Ukrainian children by occupiers. But the real, complete number of deported could be much larger. It would have been impossible to enact such a criminal operation without the say-so of the man at the helm of the terrorist state," he added.

"To part children from their families, to prevent them from contacting their relatives, to hide children on the territory of Russia, to disseminate them around far-flung regions is clearly state policy of Russia, state decisions and state evil, which starts precisely with the top official of this state," Zelensky further stated.

UK's Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab&nbsp;said that it would be a "long journey" until Putin is brought to justice. United States President Joe Biden called the step "justified", stating that the move "makes a very strong point".&nbsp;

Quite expectedly, Russia has said that the warrant issued by the ICC has ‘no meaning’ and is ‘legally void’.

"The decisions of the International Criminal Court have no meaning for our country, including from a legal point of view," Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on social media.

"Russia is not a party of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and bears no obligations under it," she added.&nbsp;

"Russia does not cooperate with this body and possible 'recipes' for arrest coming from the international court will be legally void as far as we are concerned," she said without referring to Putin by name.

The ICC Elite Umpire Selection Panel headed by ICC General Manager - of Cricket, Wasim Khan, made the additions during the annual review and selection process, increasing the number of umpires on the panel from 11 to 12. Aleem, who has been on the Elite panel since its inception in the year 2002, has officiated in more Tests and ODIs than any other umpire and is second in T20Is, behind compatriot Ahsan.

Aleem reflected on his career and thanked his colleagues over the years.

Holdstock has officiated in five Tests, 42 ODIs and 48 T20Is while Ahsan has stood in seven Tests, 41 ODIs and 72 T20Is. Both umpires were part of the panels for the ICC Men's T20 World Cups in 2021 and 2022. Holdstock and Ahsan were enthusiastic on being inducted in the panel.

"Aleem's contribution to international cricket and to the ICC has been truly remarkable. Consistently elite performances over such a long period saw him enjoy enormous respect across all involved in international cricket. I wish Aleem all the best for the future and I am sure his involvement in the game will continue for many years to come," praising Dar's contributions, ICC CEO Geoff Allardice said.
