Kaur's reaction in the match included breaking of stumps with her bat after being given out in the slip. The Indian skipper then argued with the umpire while walking back before criticising the umpire during the post-match presentation. The match officials suggested three demerit points for breaking the stumps and one for criticising the official in public. while the final decision will be taken by the ICC, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is understood to be talking with the apex body on the matter.

“A lot of learning from this game. Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring that was happening there, we were very surprised," Harmanpreet said after the match ended in the tie. The series was shared by both Bangladesh and India after it ended with 1-1 scoreline.

"The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we'll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly we'll have to prepare ourselves," added Kaur. The PCB, in a statement, said they wanted it to get deferred to the next ICC meet, but because other members decided against backing PCB on this, it got tabled on Thursday, July 13.

With PCB's counterpart, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), set to pocket the biggest slab, earning approx. $230 million out of the allotted $600 million pot for the next four years, the Pakistan Board sought more details on the same to understand their cut in this reworked model.

While the BCCI takes the daddy amount (nearly 38.4%), England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), with a $41 million share or 6.89%, is next in line, and Cricket Australia (CA) is third with $37.53 million or 6.25%.

"PCB, in accordance with its constitutional right, has over the past few weeks and at the ICC Meetings, consistently sought additional information to better understand the rationale behind the allocation of weightage to each of the criteria and the calculation of the distributions. The PCB felt in the absence of all relevant information, data and formulae, such a significant decision should not be taken in haste," PCB said in a statement on Monday.

"The PCB, therefore, proposed that this item may be deferred to the next ICC meeting.

"Ultimately, the majority of members did not find it feasible to defer this item and voted in favour of passing the Model, while the PCB recorded its dissent as a matter of principle," it added.

<h2>'PCB was to receive double the share in new model'</h2>

With cricket returning to Pakistan after a gap of nearly ten years and almost every big team travelling to the country for a bilateral series, barring India (due to political tensions between both countries), the PCB urged for a better share of revenue in the latest Financial Model.&nbsp;

The PCB also said it was set to receive double the share it got in the previous cycle because of what it brought to the table.

"Consequently, due to the Pakistan cricket team’s performance in men’s ICC events and in bilateral cricket, the PCB’s own huge fan base, which leads to significant commercial value, the PCB was ranked amongst the top-four nations in this Model. As such, the PCB will receive more than two times the revenue when compared to the last cycle," PCB said.

Meanwhile, the ICC Chairman Greg Barclay pointed out in a release, "This is a significant moment in the history of our sport and I am delighted that men’s and women’s cricketers competing at ICC global events will now be rewarded equally."

"Since 2017 we have increased prize money at women’s events every year with a clear focus on reaching equal prize money and from here on in, winning the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup will carry the same prize money as winning the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and the same for T20 World Cups and U19s too.&nbsp;

“Cricket is genuinely a sport for all and this decision from the ICC Board reinforces that and enables us to celebrate and value every single player’s contribution to the game equally," he added.

In women's cricket, Meg Lanning-led Australia won the last ICC event -- winning the T20 World Cup in South Africa early this year. Meanwhile, Australia clinched the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final -- beating Rohit Sharma-led India -- at The Oval, London last month.&nbsp;

The next ICC event is the upcoming Men's ODI World Cup in India, later this year in October-November.

With Tests being prioritised by many current cricketers, along with the addition of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) and the ever-increasing demand for T20Is, the onus has fallen on the ODI format; with several questioning its existence. In the recent past, many have questioned what exactly the format adds to an already-packed international calendar.

This audit of operational costs versus commercial return would help the ICC identify nations in need of support in order to sustain a Test match programme. This need could be subsequently addressed via a separate Test fund, established to protect the sanctity of Test match cricket."

The venues can be changed only because of the security concerns. The request by Pakistan had no sufficient grounds to change the venue, hence was declined.

Apart from its match against India, Pak had also asked for the change of venue against Bangladesh and Afghanistan. According to a report from CricBuzz, the ICC and the BCCI in a meeting held on June 20, informed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of their <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/odi-world-cup-2023-icc-bcci-reject-pcbs-request-to-change-venues-for-high-profile-clashes-report-606991">decision of no change in venues</a>.

Talking about Pakistan's matches, the Men in Green start their campaign against a qualifying team on October 6 in Hyderabad. The team will also play their second match against another qualifying team on October 12 in Hyderabad as well. Their next match is probably the biggest fixture of the World Cup - vs India on October 15 in Ahmedabad.

Chennai had been offered for Pakistan’s clash against Afghanistan while Bengaluru was to host the clash against Australia.

The ICC and BCCI have reportedly stated that there is no reason to alter the venues for the World Cup on current grounds. A venue can only be changed if there are security concerns or the ground is not fit to host international matches. While BCCI ICC reserves the right to change the venue at the request of the BCCI as they are the hosts, they did not find suitable reasons to make changes to the venue.

As things stand, India and Pakistan are set to meet on October 15 with World Cup starting after the conclusion of the Asia Cup in September. The reported dates for the start of the World Cup are October 5 and the final will take place on November 19. The schedule is yet to be made public and is expected to come out in early July.

"Leading the Indian international panel of umpires at home has also been a big responsibility. I did not have a lot of experience initially (when he entered ICC elite panel) but the last three years has helped me grow as an umpire," Menon said in an exclusive chat with PTI.

Speaking on his experience, Menon talked about his travels to Australia while he was also officiating in Dubai. He could now become the first Indian umpire to officiate in an Ashes contest while he faces tough international competition from others.

"It has been an amazing experience working in the Indian sub-continent in the first two years, doing Test matches and then getting to officiate in T20 World Cups in Australia and Dubai. I work with the best match officials and players, which has added to my umpiring experience. I have learned a lot about my character, how I behave under pressure, so lots of positives,” Menon said in the interview.

"When India play in India there is a lot of hype, a lot of big stars in the Indian team, they always try to create pressure on you, they always try to get those 50-50 decisions in favour of them but if we are in control of ourselves under pressure, then we don't focus on what they are trying to do,” Menon added.

The third edition of the ICC World Test Championship cycle begins with a clash between a resurgent England side and reigning champions Australia and will end with a Final at Lord's in 2025.

Australia might still be revelling in their triumph over India in the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023 but will have to quickly shift their focus to the next WTC cycle that starts with a clash against arch-rivals England on 16 June.

The five-Test Ashes series will kickstart the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle that is set to include 68 matches scheduled across 27 series and the third WTC Final to be played at Lord's in 2025.

The nine teams set to participate in the WTC 2023-25 cycle are Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies.

Each WTC series in the cycle will include two to five Tests, with the nine competing teams each playing six series - three at home, and three away.

The top two teams in the WTC standings will then qualify for the Final at Lord’s.

Australia topped the standings in the 2021-23 cycle on their way to a first WTC mace, and captain Pat Cummins is confident they can back up the stirring result starting in the series against England.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined India and Australia for slow over rates during the World Test Championship (WTC) Final which concluded with Australia's victory on Sunday. India players have been fined 100 per cent of the match fees while Australia have been docked 80 per cent of the match fees in fine.

After the Test got over, the ICC reviewed the over rates and found India to be five overs short in the allotted time that included adjustment for breaks and extra time as well. Australia, on the other hand, were found four overs short.

According to the Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 20 per cent of the match fee for each over they failed to bowl within the allotted time.

<h2>Shubman Gill fined extra</h2>

India batsman Shubman Gill has been fined 15 per cent of the match fee separately as well for appearing to criticise the TV umpire's decision to give him out on day 4. As per the ICC rules, Gill breached Article 2.7 which pertains to public criticism or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an international match. &nbsp;

The opening batsman, in total, has been fined 115 per cent of his match fees and would have to pay back to the ICC.

Shubman Gill was batting fluently on day 4 in India's second innings when a ball by Scott Boland bounced a bit extra and took the bat's edge. The ball, which went to the slips area, was caught by Cameron Green, who immediately started celebrating. The decision was referred to the TV umpire, who ruled against Gill.

The decision didn't go down well with the Indian fans and even cricket experts who felt that that ball had touched the ground before Green scooped it. Gill also showed his disappointment as he tweeted a picture the next day with a facepalm emoticon where Green could be seen in motion to catch the ball.

India players have been fined 100 per cent of the match fees while Australia have been docked 80 per cent of the match fees in fine. After the Test got over, the ICC reviewed the over rates and found India to be five overs short in the allotted time that included adjustment for breaks and extra time as well. Australia, on the other hand, were found four overs short. According to the Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 20 per cent of the match fee for each over they failed to bowl within the allotted time. As per the ICC rules, Gill breached Article 2.7 which pertains to public criticism or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an international match. The opening batsman, in total, has been fined 115 per cent of his match fees and would have to pay back to the ICC. The Gill incident Shubman Gill was batting fluently on day 4 in India's second innings when a ball by Scott Boland bounced a bit extra and took the bat's edge. The ball, which went to the slips area, was caught by Cameron Green, who immediately started celebrating. The decision was referred to the TV umpire, who ruled against Gill. The decision didn't go down well with the Indian fans and even cricket experts who felt that that ball had touched the ground before Green scooped it. Gill also showed his disappointment as he tweeted a picture the next day with a facepalm emoticon where Green could be seen in motion to catch the ball. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi has warned the International Cricket Council (ICC) bosses about his team’s stance in the ODI World Cup in the coming winter. According to the latest reports, Sethi has warned ICC bosses that his country won’t play at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad until they are forced to play in the knockouts. The winter edition of the ODI World Cup is likely to start on October 5.

<h2>Pakistan not to play in Ahmedabad?</h2>

"Sethi has conveyed to Barclay and Allardice that Pakistan doesn't want its matches to be scheduled in Ahmedabad unless it is a knock-out game like the final. He requested ICC to schedule their games in Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata if national team gets clearance from the Pakistan government to travel to India for the global event scheduled in October and November," a senior PCB source said according to PTI news agency.

ICC General Manager Geoff Alardice and Barclay recently traveled to Pakistan to seek assurance on their participation in the ODI World Cup. Currently, the PCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are in hot water over the organisation of the Asia Cup. India will not travel to Pakistan for the tournament while the idea of a hybrid model has been proposed to carry the smooth passage of the Asia Cup.

"Sethi pointed out that it was unfair that Pakistan should get a lesser share of the ICC revenues in the new cycle compared to Australia and England. Sethi argued that Australia and England regularly get to play bilateral series with India and their players also take part in the Indian Premier League, which means extra revenues for the two boards from the IPL management," the source added.

<h2>PCB at fight with ICC</h2>

As things stand, the PCB chief is also unhappy about the revenue share Pakistan will get from the ICC tournaments after the latest meeting. Pakistan is to get a share lower than Australia and England while India will get the majority share in the revenue which ICC will gain in its upcoming tournaments.

On the flip side, the Asia Cup model is still in limbo as the Asia Cricket Council (ACC) is set to finalise the venues in the coming days. The ACC is headed by the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and will have a big say in the outcome when the Asia Cup venues will be decided.

The PCB subsequently offered a hybrid model solution for the tournament and but India rejected that. The International Cricket Council (ICC) officials, meanwhile, have travelled to Pakistan to seek guarantee from the board for their participation in the ODI World Cup. The reason for ICC's unease that if India agreed to PCB's hybrid model then Pakistan might as well ask for the same at the ODI WC.

"The ICC and World Cup hosts, the BCCI are concerned with hybrid model being pushed by Najam Sethi who heads the cricket management committee of the PCB. Although the hybrid model has been suggested by Sethi for the Asia Cup which precedes the ICC event, the concern remains that once accepted for the regional event the PCB might also then ask the ICC to implement it for the World Cup when it comes to Pakistan playing in India," said a source abreast of proceedings to PTI.

"Naturally neither the ICC nor the BCCI want such a situation since Pakistan's unequivocal participation in matches in India would guarantee the success of Indo-Pakistan matches and also the tournament itself," added the source.

"The ICC officials are trying to work as a bridge between the PCB and BCCI and resolve the outstanding issues pertaining to the Asia Cup and World Cup," said the source further.
