The search images were scrutinised and found to be conforming with an An-32 aircraft. This discovery at the probable crash site, with no other recorded history of any other missing aircraft report in the same area, points to the debris as possibly belonging to the crashed IAF An-32 (K-2743)," the statement added.</p>

<p>According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the plane made its last radio contact at 8:46 am and was last seen on the radar at 9:12 am when it was 151 nautical miles east of Chennai.</p>

<p>For weeks, P-8I surveillance aircraft, Dorniers, helicopters and several frontline warships were deployed in the search and rescue around 200 nautical miles east of Chennai.</p>

<p>The AN-32 is a Soviet-origin military transport aircraft that has been in service with Indian Air Force since 1984. The Air Force has a fleet of around 100 AN-32 planes. The planes have been upgraded and modernised with advanced avionics, communications systems, landing aids, and better seats.</p>

<p>In May, the first C295 aircraft built for India successfully completed its maiden flight in Seville. The second aircraft is currently in the final assembly stage at the Seville facility, with delivery to the IAF scheduled for May next year.</p>

<p>Extensive training for six IAF pilots and 20 technicians has already taken place at the Seville facility, while the final assembly line in Vadodara is expected to become operational in November next year.</p>

<p>Ahead of the G20 summit slated to be held on Sept. 9-10, Delhi Police are undertaking full dress rehearsal on Saturday (Sept. 2). As a part of the rehearsal, several motorcades are being escorted towards the New Delhi district from several areas of the National Capital Region (NCR).&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to officials, the rehearsal takes place between 8:30 am&nbsp;and 12 noon, between 4:30 pm and 6 pm and between 7 pm and 11 pm.</p>

<p>The officials have also issued an advisory for the citizens to use Metro services for commuting&nbsp;as traffic is likely to be affected across the city.</p>

<h2><strong>Areas where traffic could be restricted</strong></h2>

<p>During the motorcade rehearsals, traffic will be restricted at Sardar Patel Marg-Panchsheel Marg, Sardar Patel Marg–Kautilya Marg, Gol Methi roundabout, Mansingh Road roundabout, C-Hexagon, Mathura Road, Zakir Hussain Marg-Subramaniam Bharti Marg, Bhairon Marg-Ring Road, Satya Marg/Shantipath round about, Janpath–Kartavyapath, Barakhamba Road traffic signal, Tolstoy Marg, and Vivekanand Marg.</p>

<p>The Indian Air Force (IAF) is aggressively fortifying the airspace above the Delhi-National Capital Region, deploying fighter jets, surface-to-air missile systems, anti-drone technology, airborne early-warning and control systems (AEW&amp;C), and various sensors to ensure maximum security for the upcoming G20 summit.</p>

<p>“If a threat is conclusively established, the ODC will decide what is the best method, or which particular weapon system should be used, to neutralize it,” he added.</p>

<p>According to the Northern Railway, in preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit in New Delhi, a total of 207 Train Services will face cancellations, while 36 Train Services will experience short terminations or origins from September 9th to 11th, as reported by&nbsp;ANI.</p>

<p>Securing the country's skies further, the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Sunday (August 13) inducted four strike-capable&nbsp;Heron Mark 2 drones at a forward air base in the northern sector. The state-of-the-art drones are fitted with long-range missiles and a sophisticated weapons system, giving the forces an unparalleled advantage of striking at the enemy from afar.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The drone has the strike and reconnaissance capability, rolled into one which allows&nbsp;it to monitor any situation along the border with both China and Pakistan in a single sortie. Reports stated that the drone's satellite link gives it the ability to operate 45 hours on a stretch.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) which manufactures the drone, Heron Mark 2&nbsp;"has a wider and stronger body structure" due to an improved manufacturing process, "allowing for quick and easy maintenance without adding to its weight".</p>

<p>"The drone simply amalgamates into the Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance matrix of the Indian Air Force," said&nbsp;Wing Commander Pankaj Rana, the commanding officer of the drone squadron which is named "Warden of the North".&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>IAF phasing out MiG-21 jets</strong></h2>

<p>The IAF has been gradually phasing out the ageing MiG fleet and aims to retire all the MiG jets by early 2025. To replace them, the IAF has signed a deal for 83 Tejas jets with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited as part of its modernization plan.</p>

<p>Additionally, the procurement of 36 Rafale jets has solidified the IAF's combat capabilities. Furthermore, the IAF is in the process of acquiring 114 Medium Role Fighter Aircraft to enhance its combat fleet.</p>

<p>As per a research conducted by aviation expert Anchit Gupta last year, at least 152 IAF pilots and 534 aircrafts were lost to accidents and crashes in the past 30 years.&nbsp;<br />
As per Gupta’s research, the number of accidents that resulted in loss of aircraft were between 20 and 30 for the majority of the 1990s, 10 and 20 through the 2000s and between single and double figures until 2022.</p>

<p>On April 24, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the evacuation programme "Operation Kaveri," which bears the name of one of the major rivers from South India. New Delhi established separate control centres in Jeddah and Port Sudan to accommodate the passengers while maintaining close communication with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) through the Indian embassy in Khartoum.</p>

<p>Nearly a fortnight after launching ‘Operation Kaveri’ to bring back stranded citizens from the conflict-ridden country of Sudan, the Indian government on 5 May wrapped up the evacuation programme.</p>

<p>"An Indian Air Force C130 J flight carrying 47 passengers has landed in India. With this arrival, 3862 persons have been moved out of Sudan through #OperationKaveri," Jaishankar had said.&nbsp;The EAM also appreciated nations for helping New Delhi in its operations to evacuate its citizens with safely.&nbsp;</p>

Indian Air Force assists conflict-ridden Sudan with 24,000 kg relief material

The plight of desperate Sudanese who fled Sudan amid recent violence

<p>Braving&nbsp;all odds, including a bad airstrip and poor night vision, Indian Air Force personnel on the intervening night of 27 April and 28, rescued 121 people from Wadi Sayyidna in Sudan in an IAF C-130J heavy-lift aircraft.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The airstrip is about 40 km north of the violently tumultuous Sudanese capital of Khartoum.</p>

<p>The surface of the airstrip had deteriorated. There was no fuel or navigational help, and most importantly, there were no landing lights, which are necessary to guide an aircraft landing at night. But brave IAF personnel made use of NVGs, or night vision goggles, to successfully land at the airstrip and rescued the people.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A pregnant lady was among those who did not have transportation to Port Sudan, the main transit hub from which the Indian government is rescuing its residents using military aircraft and navy ships. All were safely rescued.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Approaching the airstrip, the aircrew used their Electro-Optical/Infra-Red sensors to ensure that the runway was free from any obstructions and no inimical forces were in the vicinity. Having made sure of the same, the aircrew carried out a tactical approach on Night Vision Goggles, on a practically dark night,” the IAF reportedly said.</p>

<p>“Upon landing, the aircraft engines were kept running while eight IAF Garud Commandos secured the passengers and their luggage into the aircraft. There was no fuel or navigational help, and most importantly, there were no landing lights, which are necessary to guide an aircraft landing at night. But brave IAF personnel made use of NVGs, or night vision goggles, to successfully land at the airstrip and rescued the people. A pregnant lady was among those who did not have transportation to Port Sudan, the main transit hub from which the Indian government is rescuing its residents using military aircraft and navy ships. <p>An Indian contingent of 110 Air Warriors is at Al Dhafra airbase of the UAE, taking part in Exercise Desert Flag VIII. The Indian Air Force is participating with five LCA Tejas fighters and two C-17 Globemaster III strategic heavy-lifter aircraft. Notably, this is the first-ever international flying exercise that India's indigenously-built Tejas will be flying in. Exercise Desert Flag is a multilateral air exercise in which the air forces from UAE, France, Kuwait, Australia, the UK, Bahrain, Morocco, Spain, the Republic of Korea, USA would be taking part. The exercise is going on from 27th February to 17th March. The exercise is aimed at facilitating diverse fighter jet engagements and learning from the best practices.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Exercise Cobra Warrior</strong></p>

<p>A 145-member team of the Indian Air Force are at UK's Waddington Air Force Base for the multilateral Air Exercise Cobra warrior. Air forces from Sweden, Finland, South Africa, the USA and Singapore would be taking part alongside the Royal Air Force and Indian Air Force. The IAF has deployed five Mirage-2000 fighters, two C-17 Globemaster III strategic heavy-lifter aircraft and an IL-78 mid-air refueller aircraft. The exercise is being conducted from 6th to 24th March.</p>

<p>On the sidelines of the Indo-Japan Joint Army Exercise Dharma Guardian, the respective air forces are taking part in Exercise Maitri 23 which focuses on heavy-lift transport aircraft operations. The IAF contingent is taking part in one C-17 Globemaster III aircraft, whereas the Japanese JASDF will be fielding the C-2 transport aircraft. The exercise will comprise discussions on transport operations and tactical manoeuvring, followed by flying drills. The ongoing exercise is being conducted on March 1st and 2nd in Japan.</p>
