England manager Gareth Southgate believes his team is ready for another penalty shootout, should the round of 16 tie against Senegal on Sunday go the distance.

"We're prepared. We've had a process that we've followed," said Southgate at a pre-match press conference.

Southgate added that his team will like to finish the game in the stipulated time but if it comes to penalty kicks, his troops are 'mentally and physically' prepared for the eventuality.

“We’re aiming to win the game and to avoid extra time if you can, and to avoid penalties if you can, because you’d like to get a victory in 90 minutes."

“But if we need to go 120 minutes, if we need to go beyond that, then we’ve got to be ready for that mentally and physically. And I believe we are."

Southgate also emphasised the fact that England haven't been on-song with their set pieces.

"We haven't been as effective from set-pieces as we would have liked to have been yet, so there's definitely more improvement needed from us on that.

England's woes with penalty shootouts have been well-documented. The three lions are still nursing the wounds from last year's penalty shootout defeat against Italy at the Euro 2020 Final.

At the time, it was youngsters Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford that failed to put their penalties away - prolonging England's longing of a major trophy since winning the World Cup in 1966.

England will be up against African champions Senegal at the Al Bayt Stadium in Doha. Senegal may be missing its talisman Sadio Mane but the African side has enough firepower in the ranks to nullify the threat of an English charge.

As for Southgate, it will be interesting to observe what tactics he takes into the match. England under Southgate have largely played a conservative brand of football, despite having a vast array of attack-minded footballers.

FIFA World Cup 2022 edition is living up to expectations. With the group stage encounters set to end on Friday (December 02), the focus is now on the Round of 16. Before the next round kick-off, on Saturday (December 03), Japan stunned one and all to top their group after beating 2010 winners Spain in a riveting clash, at the Khalifa International Stadium, to win 2-1.

With this win, Japan not only confirmed a slot in Round of 16 but also ended as the toppers of Group E. In a group comprising two former champions in the form of Germany and Spain, the Japanese side have stunned one and all with their spirited display to beat both the heavyweights and enter the last 16. After beating Germany 2-1, the Samurai Blue lost 1-0 to Costa Rica and had to win versus Spain to progress ahead. For the second time in three matches in this edition, Japan made a comeback after being a goal down to emerge on top of a former World Cup winner.

Being 1-0 down in the first half, Japan struck twice but the second and final goa, from Ao Tanaka, made heads turn. Courtesy of many videos on social media platforms, many spotted that Kaoru Mitoma couldn't keep the ball inside the field of play before he passed it to Tanaka, who struck and gave his side a much-needed lead that proved to be decisive. Here's the video of the controversial goal:

Lionel Messi-starrer Argentina were in a do-or-die scenario when they squared off versus Robert Lewandowski's Poland in a vital group stage encounter at the FIFA World Cup 2022 edition, in Qatar. After losing to Saudi Arabia in their tournament opener and then beating Mexico, Argentina had to win to progress ahead into the Round of 16 and they managed to do that with a 2-0 scoreline versus the Polish line-up. Despite the defeat, Poland have also gone through to the next round.

The Argentina-Poland clash lived up to expectations, with Alexis Mac Allister and Julian Alvarez scoring a goal each. Nonetheless, Messi could've also added to his goal tally but the 35-year-old missed an opportunity to score on a penalty kick, courtesy of Poland keeper Wojciech Szczesny's brilliant save. The Argentina captain earned a spot kick after he was fouled by Polish goalkeeper but he failed to make the most of the opportunity with Sczesny showing great composure and denied Messi from scoring by reading his move and stopping the ball by using a single hand.

Morocco may find things to be very straightforward; win or draw, and they advance regardless of what transpires in the other games in the group. However, if they lose, things do get very tricky because in order for them to advance, Croatia would have to lose by at least two goals or Belgium would have to lose. If Morocco were to lose by four goals or more and the other group game ended in a draw, they would also be eliminated.

In any case, Morocco just needs to complete the task at hand, although it would be quite regrettable not to advance after having already taken points away from both teams competing for a position in the round of 16. However, judging on their results thus far, the Atlas Lions should have no trouble handling that challenge, as they easily defeated both Croatia and Belgium. While the 0-0 draw with the Vatreni was a dull game, they showed off their offensive prowess against Belgium, winning 2-0 thanks to a wonderful late strike from Zakaria Aboukhlal.

Given the calibre of opponents they have defeated, Walid Regragui's team may have been the finest tournament surprise so far. Even if they win the group, they will still face a very difficult test because they would unluckily be put up in the round of 16 with a team from Group E, most likely either Spain or Germany.

Protesters in Iranian Kurdistan let off fireworks and celebrated after Iran lost to arch foe the United States in the World Cup on Tuesday, according to social media videos. The Islamic republic has deployed state security forces against what it labels "riots" that broke out after 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini died on September 16, three days after her arrest for allegedly breaching Iran's dress code for women.

Her hometown of Saqez, as well as other cities in the western province of Kurdistan, have been a flashpoint for protests against the clerical rule. "Saqez citizens have started to celebrate and use fireworks after America's first goal against Iran's football team," said the London-based Iran Wire website on Twitter. It shared a video showing fireworks with sounds of cheering in the background. AFP could not immediately verify the content.

Another video by Kurdish activist Kaveh Ghoreishi showed a neighbourhood at night in Sanandaj city with sounds of cheering and horns blaring after the United States scored what was the only goal of the match. Fireworks were also used in Mahabad, another city in Kurdistan, following Iran's loss, according to videos shared online. The Norway-based Hengaw human rights group said Iranian motorists celebrated the US victory by honking their horns in Mahabad.

In order for the African nation, who is now last in the standings, to advance to the knockout rounds, they must defeat the current champions. After falling short in a 1-0 loss to Australia on Saturday, which saw the Socceroos surpass their fellow Group D rivals in the rankings, Tunisia are on the verge of an early departure from the 2022 edition while still waiting for their first goal of the competition.

France vs. Tunisia form at FIFA World Cup 2022

Australia just needed Mitchell Duke's deft header with 23 minutes remaining to secure their spot in the top two, leaving Tunisia, who battled bravely in a goalless draw with Denmark on matchday one, in fourth place with one match remaining. Australia will advance to the last 16 with a win over Denmark on Wednesday, even if Jalel Kadri's team shocks the world champions and earns all three points. However, anything less than a victory for the Socceroos will provide Tunisia with an opening to capitalise.

In keeping with the theme of defensive tenacity leading up to the World Cup, Tunisia has only allowed one goal in 180 minutes of play, but they are one of just two teams still without a goal at the right end after two games, the other being Mexico. Tunisia has posted seven clean sheets from eight games before Qatar. The fact that the Eagles of Carthage have never had a team go the whole World Cup without scoring should give them some hope, and with qualifying already secured, France may decide to ease up a bit.

The fact that the current champions were the first team to seal their spot in the round of 16 for the 2022 World Cup was only fitting, given France has continued to triumph despite several injury issues and performance troubles leading up to the event.

France vs. Tunisia Head to Head

Tunisia might fancy their chances against a second-string France side, but their goalscoring woes are showing no signs of letting up any time soon. With six straight victory at the World Cup, France might tie Italy's second-best mark of seven straight triumphs on the biggest platform, but they are still a ways off from matching the all-time mark of 11, which Brazil established between 2002 and 2006. This week will mark the first time France and Tunisia have faced off since a friendly match in 2010 that ended in a 1-1 draw. In the previous four meetings between the two countries, Les Bleus have alternated between winning and drawing, which is encouraging news for Deschamps's team going into this largely meaningless match.

Tunisia predicted lineup: Dahmen; Meriah, Bronn, Talbi; Skhiri, Kechrida, Laidouni, Abdi; Sliti, Msakni; Khazri France predicted lineup: Mandanda; Varane, Pavard, Konate, Camavinga; Fofana, Guendouzi; Coman, Mbappe, Griezmann; Thuram France vs. Tunisia predicted goals at FIFA World Cup 2022: 2-1

Tunisia vs. France at FIFA World Cup 2022: Match prediction, preview, Head to Head and lineups

The FIFA World Cup 2022 edition, in Qatar, is living up to expectations with many twists and turns. All eyes are now on Argentina as they will lock horns with Poland in both sides' last group-stage encounter. It is a must-win game for Argentina as a defeat will surely lead to their early exit. Poland, on the other hand, also need to win but even a draw will help their cause. A defeat will leave them dependent on Mexico to beat Saudi Arabia and they pip the North American side in terms of goal difference. Thus, a lot to play for both sides.

For Argentina, they started their campaign versus Saudi Arabia and despite a 1-0 lead, they suffered a shocking 1-2 loss. After that, Lionel Messi & Co. defeated Mexico 2-0 and will like to come out with their A-game in their remaining encounter versus Robert Lewandowski's men. The Polish side, on the other hand, started with a 0-0 stalemate versus Mexicans before emerging on top of Saudi, 2-0, hence, are better placed than Argentina at the moment.

Overall, it promises to be another enthralling battle in the FIFA WC, in Qatar, as two superstars Messi and Lewandowski will square off against each other.

Cristiano Ronaldo is one such name who continues to make headlines at a consistent basis. Ahead of the FIFA World Cup, in Qatar, Ronaldo made heads turn with his explosive interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan where he spoke at length on his fallout with the Manchester United team management. This led to his exit before the end of his contract. While now he is involved in the Qatar World Cup, where he is leading Portugal, the 37-year-old striker continues to make heads turn with many speculating which club will he join after leaving the Red Devils.

Amid all this, a report by Spanish news outlet Marca has stated that the Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, based in the capital city of Riyadh, has offered Ronaldo a whopping deal of €200 million per year if the 37-year-old gives his nod to stay till 2025. Hence, Ronaldo could earn an unimaginable €400 million for his entire stint with Al Nassr. The report further adds that the Portugal captain is on the verge of finalising the deal with the club.

In addition, there were strong rumours that Bayern Munich was interested in acquiring the services of Ronaldo. Nonetheless, the club CEO Oliver Kahn has made it clear, via a statement, that the club is not looking to sign Ronaldo. At present, the veteran footballer is focused on leading Portugal to the coveted trophy in the ongoing FIFA WC in Qatar. In their opening two games, the former Euro champions defeated Ghana (3-2) and also went past Uruguay, who eliminated them in the Round of 16, with a 2-0 scoreline.

In his interaction with Morgan, Ronaldo blasted Man United and its facilities ever since he rejoined the club in 2021. He even claimed that he has no respect for current team manager Erik Ten Hag. Following this, he parted ways with the 13-time Premier League champions. After his exit, Ronaldo shared a heartfelt note on Insatgram saying, "Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early. I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge. I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future."

Iran vs USA FIFA World Cup 2022 broadcast TV and OTT-live streaming: When and where to watch?

Cody Gakpo's second World Cup goal gave Louis van Gaal's team the lead against Ecuador. However, Enner Valencia equalised the score early in the second half, and the two teams ended up sharing the victory. This means that Holland still has work to do if they hope to advance further in the tournament. Van Gaal's team would advance to the round of 16 if they defeated Qatar or drew with them. They would also advance if Ecuador defeated Senegal. The Netherlands won't want to take any chances with their advancement, but it would be shocking if they weren't able to advance from this spot.

The host nation, Qatar, was ousted from the competition in the group stage after losing its first two games to Senegal and Ecuador. On November 20, Ecuador defeated Felix Sanchez's team 2-0 to begin their Group A campaign. On Friday, Senegal defeated them 3-1 in their second encounter of the competition. Senegal defeated Qatar in their match in the 78th minute to reduce the deficit, but Aliou Cisse's team went on to win all three points with a goal in the 84th, leaving the host nation with nothing to play for in what would be their final game of the 2022 campaign.

Qatar vs. Netherlands Head to Head

Qatar has never played Netherlands in an international game; so, they will make further history on Tuesday, and it would be a significant accomplishment if they were able to win at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor. In their last game, Qatar will be motivated to give their fans something to cheer about, but it is tough for us to predict a result other than a victory for the Netherlands. Since Van Gaal's team has performed admirably throughout the competition, we fully anticipate them to finish Group A with seven points.

When selecting his starting lineup for Tuesday's match against Qatar, Netherlands manager Van Gaal must make a lot of important choices. As he works to recover from an injury, Memphis Depay has now made two appearances off the bench in the competition. However, the Barcelona forward may start this match.

Senegal defeated Qatar in their match in the 78th minute to reduce the deficit, but Aliou Cisse's team went on to win all three points with a goal in the 84th, leaving the host nation with nothing to play for in what would be their final game of the 2022 campaign. Qatar vs. Netherlands Head to Head Qatar has never played Netherlands in an international game; so, they will make further history on Tuesday, and it would be a significant accomplishment if they were able to win at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.
The FIFA World Cup in Qatar continues to serve controversies. On Monday, a pitch invader with myriad social messages brought the match between Portugal and Uruguay to a fleeting halt.

The incident transpired during the 51st minute of the game when both sides were locked at nil-nil. The protester sauntered across the turf after breaching the security barrier. While the global feed was cut away from the invader, images showed him wearing a Superman T-shirt with “RESPECT FOR IRANIAN WOMAN" plastered across it on the back.

“SAVE UKRAINE” was written on the front whilst he carried a 'Rainbow' flag to show support for the LGBTQ community. Italian press agency AGI identified the invader as Mario Ferri of Italian nationality.

After running halfway across the pitch, Ferri was tackled into the ground by two security guards and ushered through a tunnel. The referee picked up the rainbow flag and placed it on the sideline.

It was not immediately clear if the protester was detained or charged by the Qatari authorities after his defying act.

This is not Ferri's first rendezvous, according to media reports. He had staged a similar protest during the 2014 World Cup held in Brazil where he raised the issue of children living in poverty.

In their World Cup match against Iran on Friday, Wales looked to increase their chances of making it out of the group stage. However, the Dragons put up a terrible performance and were duly penalised, though not until the 98th minute. Wales lost to Roozbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Razaeian's injury-time goals to leave fans inconsolable after Wayne Hennessey was sent off for a dangerously high foul on Mehdi Taremi. Only a specific series of circumstances will now allow Rob Page's team to qualify. If Wales loses on Tuesday, it will be the first time in their history that they have finished a major tournament without a single victory, but they might be able to draw inspiration from England's similarly terrible performance against the USA. However, only a few hours later, some of the England supporters in the audience appeared to boo their own players off the field following an uninteresting draw with the USA. Many Three Lions supporters undoubtedly welcomed Wales' setback on Friday lunchtime. The game's greatest opportunity, a shot by Christian Pulisic that struck the crossbar, came as England lost the offensive flair that had allowed them to thrash Iran for six on the opening day and wasted the chance to clinch a top-two finish with one game remaining. Wales vs. England Head to Head We still expect Southgate's team to find their shooting boots and confirm a last-16 place, inflicting World Cup heartbreak on their neighbours in the process. England were not exactly firing on all cylinders against the USA either, and they will have a difficult time breaking down a five-man Wales backline.A motivated Wales team should not be written off on the mindset front when playing their most significant game in recent memory against a British foe, but their on-field performance against Iran left a lot to be desired.
The action continues in the FIFA World Cup 2022 edition, in Qatar, as Cameroon will be up against Serbia in a crucial Group H encounter on Monday (November 28). Both sides are coming into this fixture on the back of a dismal start to their campaigns with a loss in their opening games. While Cameroon lost to Switzerland, 0-1, the Serbians faced a much tougher opposition in the form of Brazil and went down 0-2. Thus, it is a must-win game for both sides if they wish to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

For the African nation, they will look to avoid equalising an unwanted record, with Mexico. In the FIFA World Cup history, Cameroon have now lost eight straight games, after their face-off versus the Swiss. Mexico leads the list with nine consecutive defeats, hence, Cameroon will look to not match the Mexicans and end their winless streak. Serbia, on the other hand, have also lost eight of their ten FIFA WC games and have a 80% loss percentage. Hence, they will also look to better their overall record in the mega event with a good performance.

Cameroon and Serbia, two opponents from Group G who were both defeated in their opening matches of the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022, meet on Monday for a pivotal match. The Indomitable Lions were defeated by Switzerland on Thursday, but their European counterparts were humiliated by the Selecao, despite holding them off for an hour. They lost 2-0. Check the latest on Cameroon and Serbia form, Head to Head, prediction, preview and lineups.

Cameroon Form at FIFA World Cup 2022

In the first half of their Group G opening against higher-ranked opponents, Cameroon was able to hold them off, but a goal from Yaounde-born Breel Embolo in the 48th minute was the game-winner for Switzerland. As a result, the West African country has yet to claim a World Cup title since 2002, when Samuel Eto'o, who is currently the head of the Cameroonian Football Federation, scored the final goal for his nation on the international arena. They have also dropped eight straight World Cup games after their opening-day defeat, so they now aim to avoid tying Mexico's regrettable mark of nine in that regard. Despite placing third in this year's Africa Cup of Nations, the Indomitable Lions have been off of form ever since, winning only one of their previous six matches, and that victory came against Burundi.

Serbia Form at FIFA World Cup 2022

Brazil defeated Serbia 2-0 in their inaugural match at Lusail Stadium on Thursday, leaving Serbia with no points. Richarlison's goals in the second half clinched the victory and handed Serbia only its third defeat in the previous 17 matches. Dragan Stojkovic, the squad's coach, lamented that several of his key players weren't fit enough to participate. However, he also admitted that his team had fallen to the superior team. Cameroon Form at FIFA World Cup 2022 In the first half of their Group G opening against higher-ranked opponents, Cameroon was able to hold them off, but a goal from Yaounde-born Breel Embolo in the 48th minute was the game-winner for Switzerland. Serbia Form at FIFA World Cup 2022 Brazil defeated Serbia 2-0 in their inaugural match at Lusail Stadium on Thursday, leaving Serbia with no points. Richarlison's goals in the second half clinched the victory and handed Serbia only its third defeat in the previous 17 matches.
After much criticism and arrest threat looming large, the Iran football team sang their national anthem during the FIFA World Cup on Friday (November 25). Taking on Wales at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Iran team were seen quietly singing the anthem. There were loud jeers from the Iranian supporters as the anthem played with the players singing this time around after much flak received when they chose to remain silent during the side's Qatar WC opener versus England.

The silent protest was due to the disturbance back home over the hijab row in Iran. It is to be noted that the Iranian authorities have reacted with deadly force to curb the protests that have marked one of the biggest challenges for its clerical rulers following the Islamic revolution that shock the country back in 1979.

After Iran players didn't sing the anthem versus England, against whom they lost 2-6, a report suggested that the players, and fans who supported their protest, were in a spot of bother.
