Egypt's resistance to supply weapons to Ukraine poses challenge for Biden administration: Report

<p>The fossil of one of the smallest whales, which has gone extinct, was discovered by palaeontologists in Egypt. The announcement was made just a week after scientists claimed to have found a species of an ancient whale, which may have been the largest animal to have ever lived on Earth.<br />
<br />
The "tiny" fossil, which was dug up in Wadi el-Hitan, or Whale Valley, is likely to be of a whale which lived around 41 million years ago, said scientists, in a study published on Thursday (August 10) in the journal Communications Biology. It was estimated that the whale weighed around 412 pounds and was around eight&nbsp;feet long.<br />
<br />
This newly found Tutcetus rayanensis, which has been named after King Tut, is a basilosaurid, which is one of the extinct families of fully aquatic whales. Basilosauridae used to live at a time when whales transitioned from land to sea. This family of whales had flippers and strong tails and also had hind limbs similar to legs.</p>

<p>"Whales' evolution from land-dwelling animals to beautiful marine creatures embodies the marvellous adventurous journey of life," said Hesham Sallam, a professor of vertebrate palaeontology at the American University in Cairo and the project's lead, in a press release.<br />
<br />
"Tutcetus is a remarkable discovery that documents one of the first phases of the transition to a fully aquatic lifestyle that took place in that journey,” she added.<br />
<br />
The land-roaming whales from the pre-historic era were relatively small. In the study, scientists said that they believe the small size of Tutcetus was either because of primitive retention or is connected to global warming during the period.</p>

<p>The discovery of the fossil includes jaws, skull, hyoid bone and vertebra pieces. These were found embedded in a limestone block. The teeth and bones of the whale were scanned by scientists to reconstruct the development and growth of the species.<br />
<br />
Scientists believe that the species was relatively mature from birth. It is also possible that the whale had a comparatively short life.</p>

Indian PM Modi will pay a state visit to Egypt on June 24-25, at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. This trip is significant because it is Modi's first trip to Egypt and the first official bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Egypt since 1997.

India and Egypt are considering barter trade and credit-line agreements to aid Egypt's struggling economy amidst foreign currency shortage. Will Indian prime minister Modi's tour of the north-east nation offer any reprieve to Egyptians?

Indian PM Modi to visit Egypt

<p>During his upcoming Egypt visit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay tributes to Indian soldiers who valiantly fought and lost their lives during World War I. During his visit, PM Modi will visit the Heliopolis Commonwealth War Grave Cemetery in Cairo, a solemn site that serves as a memorial to nearly 4,000 soldiers from the Indian Army who served and perished in Egypt and Palestine during the First World War.</p>

<p>The cemetery's entrance features pavilions housing the Heliopolis (Port Tewfik) Memorial, a tribute to the brave Indian soldiers. Tragically, the original memorial at Port Tewfik was destroyed during the Israeli-Egyptian conflict in the 1970s. PM Modi has consistently emphasised the remarkable contributions of Indian soldiers in both World Wars.</p>

<p>In 2015, he visited the Neuve-Chapelle war memorial in Lille, France, to honour the thousands of Indian soldiers who laid down their lives while fighting alongside the French during World War 1. Last year, during the visit of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to Egypt, a similar gesture was made to honour the Indian soldiers. Reflecting on their sacrifices, Jaishankar tweeted, "Indians have made sacrifices across the world in the service of humanity. They inspire us as we strive to create a more contemporary and equitable global order."</p>

<p>The upcoming visit to Egypt holds great significance for India's diplomatic ties with the country. PM Modi is scheduled to travel to Egypt from the 24th to the 25th of this month, following his state visit to the United States from the 21st to the 24th. This visit can be seen as a reciprocal gesture, strengthening the relationship between the two nations, especially after Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to India as the chief guest during the Republic Day celebrations earlier this year.</p>

During his upcoming Egypt visit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay tributes to Indian soldiers who valiantly fought and lost their lives during World War I.

During his upcoming Egypt visit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay tributes to Indian soldiers who valiantly fought and lost their lives during World War I. During his visit, PM Modi will visit the Heliopolis Commonwealth War Grave Cemetery in Cairo, a solemn site that serves as a memorial to nearly 4,000 soldiers from the Indian Army who served and perished in Egypt and Palestine during the First World War. The cemetery's entrance features pavilions housing the Heliopolis (Port Tewfik) Memorial, a tribute to the brave Indian soldiers. Tragically, the original memorial at Port Tewfik was destroyed during the Israeli-Egyptian conflict in the 1970s. PM Modi has consistently emphasised the remarkable contributions of Indian soldiers in both World Wars. In 2015, he visited the Neuve-Chapelle war memorial in Lille, France, to honour the thousands of Indian soldiers who laid down their lives while fighting alongside the French during World War 1. Last year, during the visit of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to Egypt, a similar gesture was made to honour the Indian soldiers. Reflecting on their sacrifices, Jaishankar tweeted, "Indians have made sacrifices across the world in the service of humanity. They inspire us as we strive to create a more contemporary and equitable global order." Honored the memory of Indian soldiers at the Heliopolis Commonwealth War Grave Cemetery in Cairo.
