<p>Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson is gearing up for a captivating transformation as he is all set to step into the shoes of mixed martial arts icon Mark Kerr for an upcoming film titled <em>The Smashing Machine,&nbsp;</em>helmed by filmmaker Benny Safdie.</p>

<p>A24, the production house behind the anticipated project, confirmed the casting news in a statement given to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.</p>

<p>This strike, along with a concurrent one by film and TV writers, has brought US film and television production to a standstill. The "double strike" has caused significant financial losses for the entertainment industry and the California economy. SAG-AFTRA initiated a strike on July 14 after the film and television contract expired without reaching a new three-year pact with the AMPTP. The studios' and streamers' offer was considered insulting by SAG-AFTRA, while the AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) claimed that the union rejected a favourable package offer.</p>

<h2><strong>What do the strikers want?</strong></h2>

<p>One major point of contention was the general minimum rate increases sought by SAG-AFTRA. The union aimed for an 11 per cent wage boost in the first year of the new contract, followed by 4 per cent in the second and third years. However, the studios and streamers were only willing to offer 5, 4, and 3.5 per cent increases for the three-year agreement.</p>

<p>Another significant disagreement related to regulating generative artificial intelligence. SAG-AFTRA sought comprehensive provisions to protect human-created work and ensure fair compensation for performers when digital replicas or alterations were made using AI. The AMPTP claimed their offer was groundbreaking and protected performers' digital likenesses, requiring their consent for such use.</p>

<p>Other contentious issues included increasing "span" figures, boosting pension and health plan contribution "caps," relocation allowances, meal break penalties, and coverage for performance-capture work under a SAG-AFTRA contract.</p>

<p>While it is a common belief that actors are paid in millions per movie, that is true for only a fraction of them. A vast majority, as much as 86 per cent, cannot scrape together enough to even get health insurance.</p>

While it is a common belief that actors are paid in millions per movie, that is true for only a fraction of them. <p>Arguably the biggest cameo is Dwayne Johnson who is indeed back as Luke Hobbs. He is also being hunted by Jason Momoa's villainous Dante Reyes, particularly because it was he who pulled the trigger. There is also Gal Gadot coming back as Gisele Yashar. Turns out, Yashar did not die, after all. She saves Letty and Cipher in Antarctica.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After a lot of buzz, seems like Dwayne Johnson has finally said yes to make a comeback in the <em>Fast and Furious</em> world. As per the Wrap, 'The Rock' will make a cameo appearance in the upcoming <em>Fast X</em>. He will appear in the post-credit scene of the film.&nbsp;<br />

However, there is no official announcement on this yet. The 51-year-old actor joined the hit franchise in 2011 with <em>Fast Five</em> and played the role of Diplomatic Security Service agent Lucas Hobbs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He left the franchise after his public feud with the lead actor Vin Diesel. However, in 2021, Diesel made a public plea to Dwayne asking him to rejoin the<em> Fast and Furious'</em>s&nbsp;upcoming 10th entry.</p>

<p>Calling Dwayne his little brother, Vin wrote in the Instagram post back then, ''My little brother Dwayne... the time has come. The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes... but the time has come. Legacy awaits.''</p>

<p>Hollywood actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently&nbsp;opened up about his battles with depression. Candidly speaking about his personal life, he explained how he won those battles and triumphed. On the latest episode of The Pivot podcast, the<em> Black Adam</em> actor revealed that he first felt depressed when he was at the University of Miami and he injured his shoulder, which kept him from playing on the football team.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I didn’t want to go to school," he said. "I was ready to leave. I left school. I didn’t take any midterms, and I just left. But the interesting thing, at that time, is I just didn’t know what it was. I didn’t know what mental health was. I didn’t know what depression was. I just knew I didn’t want to be there, wasn’t going to any of the team meetings, wasn’t participating in anything."</p>

<p>The second time, he fell into depression was around the time of his divorce. And&nbsp;again in 2017, he struggled with his mental health and had to take the support of a few friends to recover.</p>

<p>"Years later, I went through it again when I got a divorce. Didn’t know what it was,"&nbsp;he continued. "Years later, around 2017 or so, went through a little bit. I knew what it was at that time, and luckily, at that time, I had some friends who I could lean on, and say, ‘You know, I’m feeling a little wobbly now. Got a little struggle happening. I’m seeing a little grey and not the blue.'"</p>

<p>His "saving grace"&nbsp;during these bouts of depression have been his three daughters. He said, "You look at them, and you realize, ‘Well, I mean, really, this is what it’s all about.'"</p>

<p>The <em>Jungle Cruise</em> actor took to Instagram on Friday to share a part of the podcast and send an important message to his fans about seeking mental health care in time.</p>

<p>"I've worked hard over the years to gain the emotional tools to work through any mental pain that may come to test me. But years ago I didn't know what mental health struggle was," he wrote. "As men, we didn't talk about it. We just kept our head down and worked through it. Not healthy but it's all we knew."</p>

<p>"If you're going through your own version of mental wellness turning into mental hell-ness, the most important thing you can do is talk to somebody," Johnson added. "It can't be fixed if you keep that pain inside. Having the courage to talk to someone is your superpower. I lost two friends to suicide. Talk to someone. Despite how you may feel, you're never alone."</p>

Hollywood actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently opened up about his battles with depression. Candidly speaking about his personal life, he explained how he won those battles and triumphed. On the latest episode of The Pivot podcast, the Black Adam actor revealed that he first felt depressed when he was at the University of Miami and he injured his shoulder, which kept him from playing on the football team. "I didn’t want to go to school," he said. "I was ready to leave. I left school. I didn’t take any midterms, and I just left. But the interesting thing, at that time, is I just didn’t know what it was. I didn’t know what mental health was. I didn’t know what depression was. I just knew I didn’t want to be there, wasn’t going to any of the team meetings, wasn’t participating in anything." The second time, he fell into depression was around the time of his divorce. And again in 2017, he struggled with his mental health and had to take the support of a few friends to recover. "Years later, I went through it again when I got a divorce. Didn’t know what it was," he continued. "Years later, around 2017 or so, went through a little bit. I knew what it was at that time, and luckily, at that time, I had some friends who I could lean on, and say, ‘You know, I’m feeling a little wobbly now. Got a little struggle happening. I’m seeing a little grey and not the blue.'" He said, "You look at them, and you realize, ‘Well, I mean, really, this is what it’s all about.'"
