A video of a massive scuffle between passengers at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago went viral after it was shared on the social media platform.&nbsp;

Around a dozen people were seen involved in the fight which started after a "verbal dispute while deplaning" on Monday, stated the police, according to Fox32.&nbsp;

The fight started between flight passengers in the airport's baggage claim area during which a 24-year-old woman was punched by two others.&nbsp;

"A verbal tiff that started in-flight really took off upon landing, with a 24-year-old woman finding herself on the receiving end of a two-pronged attack," stated Chicago Police Department as per the Fox News Digital.

The police stated that the men have been arrested.&nbsp;

The men were identified by the authorities as 20-year-old Tembra Hicks and 18-year-old Christopher Hampton. The police charged the men arrested with one misdemeanour count of battery.

As the passengers fought, bystanders were seen shouting &nbsp;"Where’s security?" and "Stop!" The scuffle ended after Hampton and Hicks were cuffed by the police.&nbsp;

Chicago is known for its rampant criminal spree, but 2021 is when it witnessed the most murders in a quarter-century, with the tally standing at 800 murders. While the homicide rate dropped 14 per cent in 2022, it remained nearly 40 per cent higher as compared to 2019.

The drop in murders in 2022, Lori says happened because of her strategies, such as hiring more officers and focusing on illegal guns. According to polls, people in the city are most concerned about public safety.&nbsp;

Paul Vallas, the former public schools chief in Chicago and Philadelphia, bagged the top spot in the mayoral race, raking in 34.9 per cent of the vote with 91 per cent of precincts reporting. Vallas had ran against Lori for Chicago mayor in 2019 as well.&nbsp;

Brandon Johnson, a Cook County commissioner and an organiser for the Chicago Teachers Union, secured the other spot in the runoff race, taking 20.2 per cent of votes. Lightfoot managed to get only 16.4 per cent of vote totals.&nbsp;

A series of gun violence has rocked Chicago this week. As per a report by ABC 7 Chicago, around 30 people were shot, including 7 fatally, last weekend. Three others were killed in separate shootings Sunday on the South and West Sides in Gresham and Humboldt Park. A 35-year-old man was shot in the face in the 700-block of South Spaulding Avenue at around 7:05 p.m., according to police. He was rushed to Stroger Hospital in a critical state but later succumbed to injuries.

On Thanksgiving Day, the phrases "COLONIZER" and "LAND BACK" were discovered painted in red splotches on a statue of a young Abraham Lincoln in Senn Park in Chicago's Edgewater neighbourhood. As per the Chicago Tribune, the statue also had "Dakota 38" written on it, referring to the Dakota Sioux members who were sentenced to death by Lincoln after the Dakota War of 1862.

This is for the second time a statue dedicated to Abraham Lincoln has been vandalised in the US within two&nbsp;months. On October 11, a similar incident was reported involving a different statue of the 16th president in Lincoln Park, some six miles from Senn Park.

They said this could shoot up the heat index up to 125 Fahrenheit (52C) at least one day per year by 2053, affecting 107 million people in 2053.

The heat index is commonly referred to as the “feels like” temperature. It represents what the outside temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity and air temperature are combined.

"These increases in local temperatures result in significant implications for communities that are not acclimated to warmer weather relative to their normal climate," the report said.

The biggest shift in the local temperature has been predicted to occur in Miami-Dade County, Florida, where the current hottest temperature touches 103 Fahrenheit seven days per year. The number is expected to increase to 34 days at 103 degrees by 2053, according to the study.

The report further warned that the increase in the use of air conditioning as a result of such temperature spikes will further strain energy grids, leading to more frequent and longer lasting brownouts.

The findings came days after the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration’s monthly climate reporton August 8 found that last month was the country’s third-hottest July since record-keeping began nearly 130 years ago.

US could witness ‘extreme heat’ by 2053: Report

Enraged by his ex-wife’s TikTok videos, a Pakistani man drove all the way from Georgia to Chicago, covering over 1,400 kilometres (875 miles), and killed her. He committed suicide after murdering her.

Prior to the murder-suicide, the woman, Sania Khan—a Pakistani American photographer—had been posting videos on TikTok about escaping a toxic marriage and moving on with her life. In her videos, she was documenting her journey of healing from the painful divorce.

As per reports, Raheel Ahmad, 39, was angered with Khan for making videos about her relationship and the South Asian community’s response to it and drove for 14 hours to reach her home.

According to a police report obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times, Sania Khan, 29, was allegedly shot and killed by her ex-husband, Ahmed. Khan had recently moved to Chicago.

Local media reports stated that the incident took place last week. Ahmed’s family had called the Alpharetta police after he was found missing from his home. They asked for a welfare check at Khan’s apartment, where they thought he might be.&nbsp;

The police then arrived at 200 block of E. Ohio street, where thery found a woman and a man with gunshot wounds to their heads inside a residence, Chicago police told ABC News in a statement

Khan was pronounced dead on the spot, whereas Ahmed was taken to Northwestern Hospital where he was declared dead as well. Police said they have recovered a weapon from the scene.

July 4 marred by parade shootings: 6 dead in Chicago, 2 Police Officers shot in Philadelphia

The suspected shooter was taken in custody after a mass shooting during a July 4th parade in Highland Park, Illinois claimed the lives of six people and injured dozens more. According to CBS News, Highland Park Police Chief Lou Jogmen confirmed that the suspect was 22-year-old Robert "Bobby" E. Crimo III and he was arrested by the authorities almost eight hours after the shooting.

Highland Park Police Cmdr. Chris O'Neill said that the shooting took place around 10:15 am during the parade but the suspect was able to flee the scene. A manhunt followed which ended with the North Chicago police spotting Crimo’s car near the Westleigh Road and U.S. 41. Jogmen told CNN that Primo was taken into custody and charges were pending as the investigation continues.

While the police did not give the reason why they zeroed in on Crimo as the suspect, the authorities were posted at his family home earlier. Lake County Major Crimes Task Force spokesman Chris Covelli told CBS News that the authorities believe that there was only shooter in the incident.

The incident in Chicago was the latest in the line of recent mass shooting in the US. According to Christopher Covelli, spokesperson for the Lake County major crime taskforce, the shooter used a “high-powered rifle” to open fire on the July 4th parade. While five people were pronounced dead right at the scene, a sixth person died after he was taken to the nearby hospital.

“This murderer will be brought to justice,” the Illinois governor, JB Pritzker, said in a news conference in Highland Park. “If you are angry today, I’m here to tell you to be angry. I’m furious. I’m furious that yet more innocent lives were taken by gun violence,” he added.
