American Airlines said the short flight duration of Flight AA1047 happened probably because of a “possible maintenance issue.”

The flight had earlier departed just after 8 am local time and came back to Chicago by 10 am, as per FlightAware.&nbsp;

The flight took off for the second time for Harry Reid International Airport after noon and it landed at the destination at around 2 pm local time, as per the flight tracking website.&nbsp;

“Flight 1047 returned to ORD for a possible maintenance issue,” said an&nbsp;American spokesperson, while speaking to Fox Business.

“The flight landed safely and taxied to the gate," the spokesperson said.

<h2>No investigation of 15-year-old aircraft after mid-air emergency</h2>

The aircraft involved in the emergency is a 15-year-old Boeing 737-800.

It was manufactured at Boeing's plant in Renton, Washington and was delivered on March 29, 2010.&nbsp;

The aircraft is mostly used as a domestic flight and connects Chicago to other places.

The victim's uncle Talluri Srujan said that Teja,&nbsp;who had joined a part-time job in Chicago, was shot dead by two African American suspects.

"Yesterday, at 6:00 pm, according to American timings, Sai Teja was murdered by gunfire by African Americans in Chicago City. This is a very sad thing for me. He went to the US on June 15 after completing his BBA in Hyderabad. He went to study for an MBA at Concordia University and also joined a part-time job in Chicago," Srujan said according to news agency ANI.

"At his usual time, Teja went to the store. When he was at the cash counter, some dacoits entered the store and demanded money. Sai Teja handed over the money, but they were not satisfied... They took the cash and shot Sai Teja outside the store," he added.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in a post on X, said that he was “deeply grieved at this news.”

Indian Consulate seeks action after Telangana student shot dead in Chicago

An Air India flight, travelling from New Delhi to Chicago, was diverted to Canada's Iqaluit International Airport (CYFB) after the flight received a bomb threat on Tuesday&nbsp;(Oct 15) afternoon.&nbsp;

Flight AI 127 was forced to divert mid-route after a bomb threat was sent&nbsp;to the air carrier via social media.&nbsp;

Notably, this is the second bomb threat reported on Tuesday, making five such incidents of bomb threats on flights in the past two days.&nbsp;

Air India Express issued a statement, saying, several operators have been targeted by threats from an unverified social media account.

"Flight Al127 operating from Delhi to Chicago on October 15, 2024, was the subject of a security threat posted online and, as a precautionary measure, has landed at Iqaluit Airport in Canada," the airline said.

"The inconvenience to customers is sincerely regretted. Air India is extending all cooperation to authorities in identifying the perpetrators of such threats to ensure that they are held accountable for the disruption and inconvenience caused to passengers, and will consider legal action against those responsible to recover damages incurred by the airline,” it added.

<h2>Ayodhya to Bengaluru flight delayed&nbsp;</h2>

Earlier on Tuesday, an Air India Express flight from Ayodhya,&nbsp;Uttar Pradesh to Bengaluru,&nbsp;Karnataka was delayed after it received a bomb threat. The plane carrying 132 passengers, was coming from Jaipur.&nbsp;

It was further scheduled to go to Bengaluru after a brief halt in Ayodhya, according to the officials.

Ayodhya airport director Vinod Kumar said the plane came from Jaipur, adding that there was an emergency situation at the airport.&nbsp;

Newly revealed bodycam recordings, made public on Tuesday (Apr 9) by Chicago's Civilian Office of Police Accountability, paint a vivid and unsettling picture of the encounter. &nbsp;

In one video, an officer wearing a hooded jacket, a baseball cap and a tactical vest with a badge on it can be heard repeatedly instructing Reed to lower his window as the tension escalates. Footage also shows multiple officers drawing their firearms, demanding that Reed unlock his doors.&nbsp;

Once the gunfire subsides, the 26-year-old can be seen lying motionless face down behind his vehicle. An officer can be heard claiming, "He started shooting at us," as another examines Reed's car and discovers a firearm inside.

"The gun's right there," says the officer, shining a flashlight into the car.

An officer was shot in the wrist during the altercation, and was hospitalised in good condition, said the Chicago police.

In response, officers discharged their weapons approximately 96 times in just 41 seconds, resulting in Reed's tragic demise.

"Upon stopping Mr Reed, multiple officers surrounded his vehicle while giving verbal commands. When Mr Reed did not comply with these commands, officers pointed their firearms at Mr Reed and ultimately there was an exchange of gunfire which left Mr Reed dead and an officer shot in the forearm," added the agency responsible for investigating allegations of police misconduct and all police shootings.

The release of the bodycam footage has sparked outrage and renewed scrutiny of police tactics. Reed's family and their legal team have condemned the officers' actions, questioning the need for such a forceful response to a minor traffic violation.

"Dexter was pulled over for failing to wear his seat belt. Now this leaves many, many questions," said their attorney Steven Hart.

"Why were tactical officers jumping out of an unmarked police car with their guns drawn for a simple traffic violation of not wearing a seatbelt?" he asked.

"After he was shot up … you added clips to your gun? That is nothing but plain murder to me," said Reed's uncle Roosevelt Banks.

US authorities have arrested an Indian-origin person in Chicago, a key suspect in a 2022 human trafficking case involving the death of four persons from the Indian state of Gujarat. Harshkumar Patel was taken into custody at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.

The four individuals, hailing from one family, were found dead near the US-Canada border. The victims, Jagdish Patel (39), his wife Vaishali (37), and their two children -- Vihangi (11) and Dharmik (3), were from Dingucha, near Gujarat’s Gandhinagar.

Harshkumar Patel’s case is slated for hearing on Feb 28, with news broadcaster CBC reporting his trial might be transferred to Minnesota.

According to affidavits and complaints filed in the US District Court for the District of Minnesota related to the case, Patel operated an illegal human trafficking network “that facilitated illegal entry of Indian nationals into the United States.”

On X, formerly Twitter, Amjad Ullah Khan, a leader from the Telangana-based political party Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), confirmed the news of the 25-year-old student's death and stated that Ahmed's family has sought assistance from Union Minister S Jaishankar.

According to Khan, Ahmed, a Master's student in IT at Conestoga College in Ontario, had been suffering from a fever for the past week. On Friday, his family received a call from a friend informing them of his sudden demise.

In a letter to Jaishankar, Ahmed's uncle expressed the family's shock and requested the Indian High Commission in Ottawa and the Consulate General of India in Toronto to expedite the repatriation process.
