Admitting having more options under their sleeves is always a better plan, McDonald said,

"We value his batting first and foremost really, he's a batter in our top six and we value that, his bowling is a bonus. A very nice bonus. We see Handscomb as an important right-hand option. We've got a lot of left handers. If there were to be any late changes, or Cameron Green doesn't make that first Test, we feel we have some good options."

"The [finger] guard needs to stay on. It's really to protect against the knock that would then re-injure that ligament. That's why it's a clear-cut deadline to mitigate against any of that risk. Green, Curran and Stokes are the major names going into the auction and teams like Sunrisers, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings needing a major all-rounder in their ranks. With not many options in the auction, it is a possibility that any one of them can actually end up commanding such a big price.

The auction that is set to take place in Kochi on December 23rd will see a total of 991 players going under the hammer including 185 capped, 786 uncapped, and 20 players from associate nations. Out of those, players like Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, Cameron Green, and even Kane Williamson are in the highest bid category – that is 2 crores (base price). Other notable names in the 2-crore category are Nicholas Pooran, Chris Jordan, Rilee Rossouw, and Rassie van der Dussen.

Big names like Pat Cummins, who got picked by KKR this season, alongside his teammate Mitchell Starc, opted to pull out of the mini-auction. With the IPL Player Registration now getting closed on November 30th, no more players will be eligible to put their names forward.

With the win, Australia took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Earlier, Rahul (55 off 35 balls) scored his second consecutive fifty which included four boundaries and three maximums. The in-form Pandya pummelled the visiting bowlers into submission with his unbeaten 30-ball 71. Australia continued to dominate the proceedings on Day 2 of the ongoing second Ashes Test against England after a great start on the&nbsp;opening day. Resuming their innings from 221/2 on Day 2, the Aussie batters continued their dominant run and took the England bowlers to the cleaners in the pink-ball encounter. Labuschagne, Travis Head and Cameron Green were all dismissed in quick succession leaving Australia in a spot of bother before Smith and Carey combined to put on a 91-run stand for the sixth wicket and steady the ship for the hosts.

All-rounder Green was dismissed for just 2 runs after being cleaned by Ben Stokes and his dismissal was accurately predicted by former Australia captain Ricky Ponting in the commentary box. Ponting, who is commentating for 7Cricket in the ongoing Ashes 2021-22, had said the deliveries will be straighter for Green as he had&nbsp;a very open front foot.

Stokes did exactly that and bowled a jaffa to beat the right-hander's defence and shatter his stumps. It was a brilliant delivery from the England all-rounder and even better analysis from Ponting, who saw in advance what was coming for Green.

"A very distinct change of tactics now for Cam Green. They will be a lot fuller and lot straighter, they will target his stumps. Cricket Australia uncovered that six new names have been added after conversations remembering the mental well-being of the players.&nbsp;

In a statement released by CA, the Australian board said: "The six additions to the Qantas Australian men's squad follow discussions with players selected in the initial preliminary list for the tours of the West Indies and Bangladesh. During the course of those discussions, it has become clear that recent experiences abroad, including but not limited to extended periods in bio-secure hubs and hard quarantine, have had an impact on the health and well-being of some players and their families."

38-year-old Dan Christian last played for Australia in 2017 in a T20I game against India. Dan Christian has been compensated for his steady exhibitions in the Big Bash, where he had a significant impact in the 2020-21 BBL season, managing the Sydney Sixers to consecutive titles. The veteran all-rounder was likewise remunerated with an agreement in the IPL 2021, where he played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore before the competition was suspended inconclusively.&nbsp;

Cricket Australia on Thursday announced the limited-overs squad for their white-ball series against India with some new names and experienced players getting a call-up for the much-awaited series starting in November.

While all-rounder Moises Henriques earned a well-deserved recall, highly-rated young all-rounder Cameron Green was also included in the Australia squad. Green, 21, was included in the squad for three ODIs and as many T20Is starting next month after the youngster smashed a classy 197 in Sheffield Shield last week.

Green was termed as the ‘best Australia had since Ricky Ponting’ by Greg Chappell.&nbsp;

"Cameron's domestic form has been outstanding and he has carried it through for Western Australia this summer," said national selector Trevor Hohns.&nbsp;

"Moises is a tremendous cricketer with loads of experience and is a great person to have around the group," said Hohns.&nbsp; 
"His form was extremely impressive in leading the Sixers to the BBL title last summer and he has played well at the start of this season."

Nathan Lyon, however, was saved for the four-match Test series against India – for which Australia are yet to announce the squad. But Adam Zampa continued to feature.&nbsp;
