Shakib Al Hasan, a veteran Bangladesh cricketer, has failed his second bowling test in Chennai and subsequently found no place in the 15-man Champions Trophy squad.
Shakib faced suspension from top-flight and international cricket over a suspected bowling action earlier, failing to pass the second test undertaken at the Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science in Chennai last month.
As a result, his suspension remains in place, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced in a statement.
"Consequently, the player's existing suspension from bowling in international cricket following the initial independent assessment at the testing centre of Loughborough University in the UK also remains in place. A successful reassessment is required for the bowling suspension to be lifted,&rdquo; the board statement read.
"While Shakib is currently unable to bowl, he is eligible to continue playing as a batsman in all forms of domestic and international cricket,&rdquo; it further stated.

Shakib was reported for a suspect bowling action during a County game in September last year. The ECB conducted a bowling test at UK's Loughborough University late last year, which he failed, prompting the board to suspend him.&nbsp;
However, by clause 11.3 of the ICC's regulations for illegal bowling actions, the apex body recognised it and enforced his suspension across all cricket.

Despite BCB president Faruque Ahmed saying on Friday that he would like to have Shakib back in the ODI team for the Champions Trophy 2025, the left-handed all-rounder found no place in the final 15, announced on Sunday (Jan 12). Star keeper-batter Litton Das also failed to make the cut.

India pace sensation Mayank Yadav impressed everyone on his T20I debut during the first game of the three-match series against Bangladesh on Sunday (Oct 6). Mayank finished with 1/21 in four overs and was fast enough to trouble the batters, as was evident by the maiden first over he bowled on his debut.

Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, however, said after the match: "We have some similar fast bowlers in the nets. I don’t think ..we were too worried about (Mayank Yadav). But he is a good bowler."

India had bowled out Bangladesh for 127 runs before achieving the target in 11.5 overs to go 1-0 in the series.

Yadav, who lit up IPL 2024 with his pace in the four matches he had played, was playing in his first competitive match after the injury in the T20 league.

He also credited his IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and now India bowling coach Morne Morkel for his development as a player.

"It has been comfortable, hung with him for last three years. He knows me, I know him. It is easy for me to work with him. He knows what things are better for me and where I need to work," Mayank said about his equation with Morkel in a video shared by the BCCI.

Yadav also created history on debut as he bowled his first over a maiden - becoming only the third Indian bowler ever to do so.

Before Mayank, Arshdeep Singh and current BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar had bowled their first over as maiden on T20I debut. Mayank also lived up to the expectation in the match, bowling well in north of 140 km/h.

The second T20I of the series is scheduled to be played on Wednesday (Oct 9) in New Delhi.

"I am a citizen of Bangladesh, so I shouldn't have any problem going back to Bangladesh," he said. "My concern is my safety and security in Bangladesh. My close friends and family members are concerned. I hope things are getting better. There should be a solution to it."

Shakib was a Member of Parliament (MP) of Sheikh Hasina-led party and has faced complications since, including being named in an FIR for murder.

Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has hit out at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairmen for 'destroying the team.' The comments come after 0-2 Test series loss against Bangladesh at home.

"Whoever became the chairman in the last four years has demolished Pakistan cricket," said Latif on his show 'Caught Behind.'

"Who brought him (Shan Masood) as (Test) captain? Who removed Babar Azam (from captaincy)? Who divided the Pakistan team?" Latif continued. "So what is he doing at this juncture? Giving interviews?"

The chairmen kept changing as well, while all this drama happened in Pakistan cricket before Mohsin Naqvi was elected.

'Team started disintegrating from...,' Ex-Pak cricketer Rashid Latif blames PCB chairmen for Bangladesh loss

Pakistan Test skipper Shan Masood says that they have to get their fitness better in order to compete in the red-ball cricket. The comments come as Pakistan lost both the Tests against Bangladesh at home. Pakistan lost the first Test by 10 wickets and the second by six wickets, losing the series 2-0.

"The harsh realities are that as a Test-playing nation, we need to get fitter. We need to have that mental and physical ability to last five days. And to last a series, which can be 10 to 15 days. So, that's the challenge that we have a month now before England, and once we get to England, it's going to be a really busy season domestically and internationally. So the boys have to pull their socks up and come back with their best," said the skipper after loss in second Test on Tuesday (Sep 3).

Pakistan, after losing the first Test, dropped Nasim Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi for the second Test and were criticised for the decision.

"We can't be harsh on them because they're playing all three formats. If Shaheen has played consistently for a year, you can't just throw them in every game. And you have to build up your stocks as well. So we've got a lot to look at," said Masood.&nbsp;

Masood also acknowledged the team's failure but said that they are 'heading in&nbsp;the right direction.'

"You always learn from your mistakes. And you try and give people a chance. And I think that we're heading in the right direction; we have been consistent with selection. We had Khurram, Muhammad Ali Daisy, and Mir Hamza play this test series. We went, uh, trying to keep consistency with red ball performances as well. We've got Shaheen and Nasim back in the fold as well," said Masood.

'Heading in the right direction,' says Pak Test skipper Shan Masood after series loss against Bangladesh

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reprimanded both Pakistan and Bangladesh for slow over rate in the recently concluded Rawalpindi Test. Both the teams have been fined match fee and docked World Test Championship (WTC) points as well.

Pakistan were found six overs short while Bangladesh were three overs short. The home team was fined 30 percent match fee along with six WTC points. Bangladesh, on the other hand, were fined 15 percent match fee and three WTC points.

The fines and point-deduction were in accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five percent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.&nbsp;

In addition, as per Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship playing conditions, a side is penalised one point for each over short. The offences and sanctions were approved by match referee Ranjan Madugalle and were accepted by both, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Shan Masood.

As for the match, Pakistan lost the Test by 10 wickets on day 5. This was their first 10-wicket loss at home and Bangladesh's first Test win over them.

Addressing the media after his country’s first loss to Bangladesh in Tests, Masood admitted his team made plenty of mistakes during the first four days, with the bowlers failing to capitalise with the second new ball hurting them more.

"As a team, we made many mistakes over the four days, and Bangladesh were worthy winners," Masood said during the media chat.&nbsp;

"They were very disciplined in their batting. We gave them a few chances as well when Mehidy and Mushfiqur [Rahim] were playing. As a bowling unit, where we lost the game was the second new ball. That's where we could have imposed ourselves on the game and let ourselves down,” he added.&nbsp;

The home team was fined 30 percent match fee along with six WTC points. Bangladesh, on the other hand, were fined 15 percent match fee and three WTC points. Also Read: 'Off the field things...,' Sanjay Bangar on Virat Kohli stepping down as India Test skipper The fines and point-deduction were in accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five percent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time. "As a team, we made many mistakes over the four days, and Bangladesh were worthy winners," Masood said during the media chat. "They were very disciplined in their batting. We gave them a few chances as well when Mehidy and Mushfiqur [Rahim] were playing. As a bowling unit, where we lost the game was the second new ball. That's where we could have imposed ourselves on the game and let ourselves down,” he added.

It is to be noted that Shakib was a Member of Parliament (MP) in Bangladesh, representing the ousted Hasina government's party.

BCB chief Faruque Ahmed, meanwhile, has said that a decision on the same will be taken after the first Test against Pakistan, which ended on Sunday (Aug 25).

"Let me say about Shakib. A case has been lodged. We are yet to get any legal notice. FIR (first information letter) was given in the case and later there will be an investigation and following that, the case will move in one direction or the other," Faruque told reporters following the meeting with BCB directors.

"Look, the FIR is just the first information letter and they are yet to claim any charge as far as I know, so before that, it is difficult to take a decision. The relationship between BCB and Shakib Al Hasan is like a player and an employer according to the contract. After tomorrow, we can think exactly after getting the legal notice and based on that. I cannot withdraw him from the middle of the Test match," he said.

"The second Test match is from August 30, so there is a gap between the games. During this period, we can think about what can be done in this regard," he added.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, beat Pakistan by 10 wickets on Sunday for their first Test victory against them.

PAK vs BAN 1st Test: Pakistan skipper Shan Masood FURIOUS after controversial out decision - WATCH

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has moved the second Test against Bangladesh from Karachi to Rawalpindi, the venue of first Test as well. The decision comes days after announcing that there would be no spectators during the Karachi Test.

The steps have been taken as National Stadium in Karachi is undergoing construction and renovation for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Pakistan are scheduled to host their first ICC tournament in February-March next year since co-hosting 1996 ODI World Cup.

"We have been guided by the construction experts on the timelines for the readiness of the [National Stadium in Karachi]. They advised that while construction could continue during playing hours, the resulting noise pollution would disturb the cricketers. Additionally, the dust from the construction work could also affect the health and wellbeing of the players, officials, broadcasters, and media," read a statement from the PCB.

"Given that construction must continue uninterrupted to ensure the venue is operationally ready for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the PCB, after consulting all stakeholders and reviewing operational and logistical matters, has decided to hold both Tests in Rawalpindi," it further added.

Bangladesh are in Pakistan for a two-Test series, with the first Test scheduled to be played from August 21 in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan are expected to play seven home Tests in the coming month and are looking to equally share the hosting between three venues: Rawalpindi, Karachi and Multan.

Multan would have been a viable option to shift the second Test against Bangladesh but it is already slated to host the first Test against England in October.

The Karachi Test against England, scheduled to be played from October 15, is so far expected to have spectators present.

As for Bangladesh, they are touring Pakistan for the first time since 2020, when Covid-19 pandemic cut short their trip.&nbsp;

Nafees Iqbal, former Bangladesh batter and brother of Tamim Iqbal, suffers brain haemorrhage

Former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal says that 'a lot of things have to be right' for him to play for the country again. Tamim's comments came after guiding Fortune Barishal to victory in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The batter, however, acknowledged that he has only a couple years left to play. After scoring 492 runs in BPL and leading the side to tournament win, Tamim might be in plans for Bangladesh for the upcoming T20 World Cup in June later this year.

"I am at a stage of my career where I would probably play for another two years. So I need to tell them such things, and since I did not have a final talk with them, it won't be appropriate for me to comment here," said Tamim in a press conference after winning the BPL.

"I would like to say one thing clearly. For me to come back, a lot of things have to be right otherwise there's no point for me to just come back and play," Tamim added.

"I haven't spoken with him (new chief selector) yet. I was in communication with Jalal bhai (Jalal Yunus). I was available for a talk, but unfortunately, we didn't get the opportunity. I will be travelling abroad tomorrow morning, and hopefully, after I return, we will sit," he further said.

Notably, Tamim and the Bangladesh Cricket Board have been at loggerheads for quite some time now. The batter had announced his retirement last year a few months before the 2023 ODI World Cup. He then reversed the decision 24 hours later after an intervention from Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina.

The drama, however, kept going as Tamim made himself unavailable for the selection ahead of tournament and Shakib Al Hasan was given the charge of the side. He has last played for the the country in September 2023.

Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim became the first batter in Test cricket to be given out for 'obstructing the field' during the second Test in Mirpur against New Zealand. Rahim had stopped the ball using his hand and the Kiwis appealed immediately. Rahim was fifth wicket to fall for Bangladesh who eventually folded for 172 in their first innings.

The incident happened in the 41st over when Rahim defended a delivery from New Zealand bowler Kyle Jamieson. The ball bounced wide of off stump and Rahim used his right hand to swat it away further. The appeal from the Kiwis was upheld by TV umpire Ahsan Raza and Rahim walked off the field after scoring 35 off 83 balls. Have a look at the video below:

Talking the incident, former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal, who was commentating at the moment, said: "A cricketer who has played over 80 Tests should know he can't do that. Practice habit can make this happen. In the nets, batters often take the ball in hand and return it back to the bowler. May be Mushfiqur did it unconsciously and extended his hand. But this obviously can't be an excuse."

It was, however, the case of 'handle the ball' but the rule has been removed in 2017 and brought under 'obstructing the field'.

According to Law 37.1.2, "The striker is out obstructing the field if, except in the circumstances of 37.2, in the act of receiving a ball delivered by the bowler, he/she wilfully strikes the ball with a hand not holding the bat. This will apply whether it is the first strike or a second or subsequent strike. The act of receiving the ball shall extend both to playing at the ball and to striking the ball more than once in defence of his/her wicket."

It wasn't the first time Rahim had tried to swat the ball away using his hands in the Test. Before his dismissal, the batter had tried the same thing in the 29th over of the innings, but his hand failed to connect with the ball.

Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim became the first batter in Test cricket to be given out for 'obstructing the field' during the second Test in Mirpur against New Zealand.

Bangladesh T20I skipper Shakib Al Hasan to contest parliamentary elections next year

India will be looking to continue their unbeaten run when they take on Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup on October 19 in Pune. This will be the fourth game in the tournament for both teams as they near the halfway mark&nbsp;of their campaign. India clearly have the upper hand going into the match with three wins in three games while Bangladesh will aim to improve their record from 2-1 in three games to 2-2 in four.

The Bangladesh team is capable of causing an upset and India would know it from the humiliating defeat of the 2007 ODI World Cup. The Indian team in 2023, however, looks unstoppable and leading their charge is skipper Rohit Sharma from the front.

There are many marquee players to look for in the game, namely Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah from India and Shakib Al Hasan, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz from Bangladesh.

With Rohit in prime form with the bat, it would be crucial for Bangladesh to take him out early because once the Indian skipper gets going, he can change the game on his own. Apart from Rohit, Kohli would also be an important wicket for Bangladesh. Mehidy Hasan has been a revelation for his team since his debut and his performance with the ball, along with Shakib, will matter the most if Bangladesh were to win the game against India.

While bowling, Jasprit Bumrah would be key for India along with other bowlers, including Kuldeep Yadav. Taking wickets upfront is going to be a huge advantage for India. Bangladesh's batting responsibilities, meanwhile, will lie on Shakib, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan as well.

With decent middle-order batters, Bangladesh can pose a threat to India and on their day, can cause an upset as well. But given the form India are in, they are favourites to register their fourth win on the trot. The game starts at 2:00 pm local time with the toss scheduled to take place at 1:30 pm at the MCA stadium in Pune.

<h2>Here are the predicted XI for both teams:</h2>

India: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah

Bangladesh: Litton Das, Tanzid Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Towhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam

ODI World Cup 2023: India juggernaut reaches Pune to face Bangladesh | Match preview and result prediction

Bangladesh star opener Litton Das has issued an apology after he got involved in a controversy with journalists during the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 edition in India. The opening batter was not happy with the presence of the media persons in the Bangladesh team hotel lobby and reported it to the security guard. The Bangladeshi journos were taking pictures of the national players from a distance, which was not well received by Litton.

This led to a controversy and now Litton has issued a lengthy statement on his Facebook page. He wrote, on Monday (Oct 16),&nbsp;"I apologise whole-heartedly for the incident that took place in the team hotel yesterday. Actually, I did not realise that a lot of journalists were present there. I am extremely sorry for the sudden mishap. I am always respectful towards the media. Journalists have played a big role in the development of Bangladesh cricket."

Post Litton's outburst,&nbsp;a senior reporter, named Aasif Iqbal lashed out at the 29-year-old batter and deemed his behaviour 'rude and unacceptable'.

“It was rude behaviour from Litton. We were insulted in some way and it was not possible for us to accept it. Journalists will be there where Bangladesh cricket goes. The ICC had allowed us to talk to the players. Taskin (Ahmed) and Mahmudullah talked to us, but the way Litton behaved was unacceptable. He then asked the security what the mediapersons were doing. Just because he is not scoring runs doesn’t mean that he will misbehave with us,” the journalist told Daily Cricket.

Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh have won a solitary game out of three and occupy the seventh spot in the points table. The Asian side will lock horns with India on Oct 19 (Thursday) in Pune.

CWC '23: I apologise whole-heartedly, says Litton Das after outburst on Bangladesh journalists

Fresh off the drubbing against New Zealand in the first match at Ahmedabad,&nbsp;defending champions England will take the field in Dharamsala on Tuesday (Oct&nbsp;10) to get their World Cup campaign back on track. Amid all the hype of reinventing the wheel, England failed to stick to their strategy of going big from the beginning - a mistake that Jos Buttler's men would hope to correct when they face a resurgent Bangladesh.&nbsp;

Dharmsala with its unique geographical location possesses a different challenge than the rest of the venues. Located at a height of 1,457 metres, the ball nips through in the thin air while the batters can rely on the true bounce of the pitch.&nbsp;

The altitude and the climate might aid England who will feel at home, after suffering in the furnace-hot conditions of Ahmedabad. Several English batters appeared to rush through their shots in the first match, despite getting starts, which eventually led to the below-par score which was chased with much ease by the Kiwi batters.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will rely on captain Shakib Al-Hasan to once again do the heavy lifting. One of the most underrated all-rounders of the generation, Shakib has been the pillar of Bangladesh cricket and despite the off-field controversies, he is expected to engineer another World Cup triumph, especially against the English side.&nbsp;

Shakib was there when the Bangla Tigers flattened the Three Lions in Chittagong in 2011 as well as Adelaide, in 2015. Thus, England will be on high alert coming into the contest and not take the Bangladesh challenge lightly.&nbsp;

<h2>What the teams said:&nbsp;</h2>

England skipper Jos Buttler ahead of the match expressed unhappiness towards the Dharmsala outfield but added that his team will not use it as an excuse but adapt to it.

"It's good for us to have had a couple of really good days in preparation. We're desperate to get out and put in a good performance. We know we didn't play as well in the last game and we're always desperate to put that right, both individually and as a team," he added.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Bangladesh spin bowling coach Rangana Herath said:&nbsp;"To be honest, 10 out of 10 [rating for Shakib and Mehidy Hasan's bowling]. They read the pitch well. They analysed which line and length they needed to bowl. And they had a very attacking field setting as well. I'm 100% happy with how they bowled actually."

<h2>Result prediction:&nbsp;</h2>

Despite Bangladesh being aware of the Indian conditions, England will have the upper hand in the game courtesy of the 'Himalayan' venue. If England batters are able to manoeuvre the Bangladeshi spinners well in the middle overs, they&nbsp;might be in for a favourable result.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<h2>Predicted Playing XIs:</h2>

According to Dav Whatmore, the World Cup-winning coach with Sri Lanka in 1996 and WION's in-house expert, the potential XIs are expected to look like this:&nbsp;

England XI: Jonny&nbsp;Bairstow, Dawid&nbsp;Malan, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood&nbsp;

Bangladesh XI:&nbsp;L. Das, Tanzid Hasan, Nazgûl Shanto, Shakib Al-Hasan,&nbsp;Mehidy Hasan Miraz,&nbsp;Mushfiqur Rahim, Towhid Hridoy, Mahamadullah, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman&nbsp;

<h2>Match-ups&nbsp;to watch out for:&nbsp;</h2>

Malan v Mustafizur
Root v Shoriful
Stokes v Mehidy Hasan Miraz

World Cup 2023, Match 7: England take on Bangladesh in Dharamsala - Preview and result prediction

A lot has been happening in Bangladesh cricket of late. The Bangladesh cricket team announced their final 15-man squad for the upcoming CWC 2023 edition in India, which gets underway on October 05 in Ahmedabad, which saw the exclusion&nbsp;of star opener Tamim Iqbal. Tamim has had a topsy-turvy ride in the recent past --&nbsp;announcing international retirement, then taking a quick U-turn&nbsp;and stepping down as the ODI captain.

With Shakib Al Hasan replacing Tamim as the Bangladesh ODI skipper ahead of the forthcoming World Cup, Tamim held on to his spot during the home ODIs versus New Zealand. After the second ODI, he complained of back issues -- which had forced him to miss the Asia Cup 2023 edition -- and eventually got ruled out. Thus, Tamim lost his spot in the World Cup squad due to injury concerns. However, the opener made a shocking claim of being&nbsp;a victim of dirty politics.

On Wednesday (September 27), Tamim took to Facebook and confirmed that&nbsp;he would have been fit enough to take part in the ODI World Cup. However,&nbsp;he won't be travelling to India solely because he is aware of the roadblocks being created for him by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). One of which, he said, was a top board official suggesting him to give up his opening slot and bat lower in the order.

<h2>'Someone like Rohit Sharma built his career from No. 7 to opener'</h2>

Now, Shakib has hit back at Tamim's claims and lashed out at the former captain. "I am sure someone who is authorized had said this (to Tamim). I am sure whoever has said it, he thought of the team. A lot of things go into building a combination for a match. So if someone has said this to him, was it wrong? Or we can't make such a proposal? I am just going to tell someone that you can do whatever you want. Is the team first or the individual?" Shakib told the Dhaka-based TV channel T-Sports in an interview&nbsp;aired on Wednesday evening.

"Someone like Rohit Sharma built his career from No. 7 to opener, scored 10,000-plus runs. If he sometimes bats at No 3 or 4, would it be a big problem? It is totally childish. It is my bat, I will play. No one else can play. A player should bat at any position for the team. Team first. It doesn't make any difference if you have made 100 or 200, and the team loses. What can you do with personal achievement? You want to make a name for yourself?" Shakib pointed out.

"You are not thinking about the team at all. People don't understand these things. Why was the proposal given to him? It was for the team. What is wrong in that? You are a team man when you agree to such a proposal. Unless you are thinking along those lines, you are not a team man. You are playing for individual records, success, fame, and name. Not for the team," the all-rounder opined.

Shakib went on to add that he did not wish to carry a half-fit player in a marquee event like the ODI World Cup. He claimed that anyone playing without being 100% fit is cheating the team.

<h2>'MS Dhoni once said that the unfit player is cheating his team and country'</h2>

Shakib mentioned, "I didn't discuss the subject with the particular player, medical team or selector. It is definitely the board's decision. People might doubt my capability or capacity but someone like MS Dhoni, who has won everything and has the knowledge and sense, once said that the unfit player who is playing is cheating his team and country. I think we should accept it, and not just Tamim but every player (that you have to be fully fit when playing for the team or country)."

Shakib added, "Kane Williamson won't play the first two matches (in CWC '23), but then he will start playing.&nbsp;If I knew something like this, I wouldn't have any problems. But if I know that there's uncertainty about him playing the seventh or the third or the first game, or that I will only know in the morning of the game, it will be difficult for me to select the team. I don't think we need such a player."

"I certainly heard that he will play selectively. A journalist can't really tell you that he will come to the office an hour before he wants to come to office. If you ask me personally, if I was the company CEO, I won't keep that employee. Although I never had any discussion about this matter."

36-year-old Shakib also criticised Tamim for not leaving captaincy early and stated, "I have often heard in the dressing room that he is leaving the captaincy. Even a player once told him that 'bhai, leave it early so that the new captain gets a bit of time'. Exactly that's what happened. The one who came in, didn't get the time. Each and everyone knew including the selectors and board officials. Papon&nbsp;bhai&nbsp;(BCB president Nazmul Hassan) certainly knew about it."

"I don't know why he didn't leave it (earlier). He can tell you. It is like, your commander takes you to war but (Shakib mimicking a solider) after he has got you ready, the commander isn't telling you to fire or retreat. Where will you go? We were in this situation in the last two matches against Afghanistan (in July). The captain wouldn't have changed ahead of the Asia Cup and the World Cup, unless he himself announced that he was resigning or retiring. It would have happened 18 months ago, when everyone knew what was about to happen," Shakib added.

It will be interesting to see if Tamim responds to Shakib's claims. For Bangladesh, they play Sri Lanka and England in their two CWC '23 warm-up ties, on September 29 and October 02, before opening their campaign in the tournament versus Afghanistan on October 07 in Dharamshala.

A lot has been happening in Bangladesh cricket of late. The Bangladesh cricket team announced their final 15-man squad for the upcoming CWC 2023 edition in India, which gets underway on October 05 in Ahmedabad, which saw the exclusion of star opener Tamim Iqbal. Tamim has had a topsy-turvy ride in the recent past -- announcing international retirement, then taking a quick U-turn and stepping down as the ODI captain. However, the opener made a shocking claim of being a victim of dirty politics. On Wednesday (September 27), Tamim took to Facebook and confirmed that he would have been fit enough to take part in the ODI World Cup. However, he won't be travelling to India solely because he is aware of the roadblocks being created for him by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). One of which, he said, was a top board official suggesting him to give up his opening slot and bat lower in the order. 'Someone like Rohit Sharma built his career from No. 7 to opener' Now, Shakib has hit back at Tamim's claims and lashed out at the former captain. Is the team first or the individual?" Shakib told the Dhaka-based TV channel T-Sports in an interview aired on Wednesday evening. Also read: ‘He asked me to skip first match’ – Tamim Iqbal’s shocking revelation behind World Cup exclusion "You are not thinking about the team at all. 'MS Dhoni once said that the unfit player is cheating his team and country' Shakib mentioned, "I didn't discuss the subject with the particular player, medical team or selector. It is definitely the board's decision. People might doubt my capability or capacity but someone like MS Dhoni, who has won everything and has the knowledge and sense, once said that the unfit player who is playing is cheating his team and country. I think we should accept it, and not just Tamim but every player (that you have to be fully fit when playing for the team or country)." Shakib added, "Kane Williamson won't play the first two matches (in CWC '23), but then he will start playing. If I knew something like this, I wouldn't have any problems. But if I know that there's uncertainty about him playing the seventh or the third or the first game, or that I will only know in the morning of the game, it will be difficult for me to select the team. I don't think we need such a player." "I certainly heard that he will play selectively. A journalist can't really tell you that he will come to the office an hour before he wants to come to office. If you ask me personally, if I was the company CEO, I won't keep that employee. Although I never had any discussion about this matter." 36-year-old Shakib also criticised Tamim for not leaving captaincy early and stated, "I have often heard in the dressing room that he is leaving the captaincy. Even a player once told him that 'bhai, leave it early so that the new captain gets a bit of time'. Exactly that's what happened. The one who came in, didn't get the time. Each and everyone knew including the selectors and board officials. Papon bhai (BCB president Nazmul Hassan) certainly knew about it." "I don't know why he didn't leave it (earlier). He can tell you. It is like, your commander takes you to war but (Shakib mimicking a solider) after he has got you ready, the commander isn't telling you to fire or retreat. Where will you go? 'Someone like Rohit...': Shakib hits back at Tamim over CWC fiasco, questions his 'childish' approach

Bangladesh bowler Hasan Mahmud ran New Zealander Ish Sodhi out at the non-striker's end during the second ODI between the two teams in Mirpur on Saturday, September 23. Litton Das, the skipper of host team, however, decided to withdraw the appeal and called Sodhi back on the crease.

The incident happened in the 46th over of New Zealand batting and Sodhi was batting on 17 at the time. The leg-spinner went on to score 35 runs in the end as the Blackcaps posted modest 254 on a slow and turning pitch. Batting first, Tom Blundell top scored for the Kiwis with 68 while Henry Nicholls scored 49. Sodhi's 35 were the third highest for New Zealand as their batmen found it hard to score on a typical sub-continent pitch. For Bangladesh, Khaled Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan took two-wickets each.

WATCH: Bangladesh bowler runs out New Zealand's Ish Sodhi at non-striker end before calling him back

New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi produced most satisfying performance of his career which included a maiden five-wicket haul as he claimed a six-for in his team's win over Bangladesh in second ODI. The performance came at the right time with ODI World Cup just around the corner.&nbsp;

"The most satisfying wicket actually was the fifth wicket," Sodhi said after the match. "Not necessarily because it was five wickets but I worked really hard on my run-up to bowl a fraction quicker compared to a year or two ago. That was the type of delivery that I was working hard towards. It was really pleasing to see that it got me a wicket."

Speaking on if he has changed in his bowling to be be more successful, Sodhi said he tried&nbsp;to get more skiddy.

"A lot of the really successful new-age leg spinners are a lot shorter than what I am. They get the ball to skid to keep the stumps in play all the time. I thought that the bounce could play against me sometimes. One, they don't actually hit the stumps.

"Sometimes on slow wickets, I can sit in the wickets a little bit more. I was trying to add the skiddy sort of nature to my game by changing my run-up a year ago. Certainly not trying to neglect my height as well. I am trying to use it as much as I can," he said.

Talking about his performance, the spinner definitely liked it and hoped for more such performances in the coming years.

"It is great to be in the company [of bowlers taking six-fors in ODIs]. I can hopefully produce some match-winning performances for New Zealand in the coming years," he said.

In the match, New Zealand batted first on a slow and turning pitch, scoring 254. Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals and eventually got all out for 168, losing the game by 86 runs as Sodhi claimed&nbsp;6 wickets while conceding 39 runs.

Rain washes out first ODI between New Zealand and Bangladesh

India batsman Shubman Gill accepted that he should have taken India home against Bangladesh in Asia Cup Super Four game on September 15. The opening batsman scored a magnificent 121 off 131 balls - his first century in Asia Cup (ODI format) but fell 57 runs short of 266-run target.

The game, however, had no effect on standings as India had already made it to the final by winning games against Pakistan and Sri Lanka while Bangladesh were already out of contention. This consolation win was also Bangladesh's first against India in the regional tournament since 2012. Speaking at the post-match ceremony, Gill said that he 'miscalculated' and should not have batted that aggressively. Gill, who fell to Bangladesh spinner Mahedi Hasan in 44th over of the chase, had hit the bowler for a six on the previous ball before being out.

"Sometimes, there is so much adrenaline when you are batting, you miscalculate. It was a miscalculation on my part."

“But when I got out and there was a lot of time left, and if I would have batted not that aggressive then we should have gotten over the line. But these are learnings, and fortunately this game wasn't the final,” said the batter after the match.

Axar Patel (42) and Shardul Thakur although added 40 runs for the eight wicket to take India on the brink of victory with just 17 runs needed of last 12 balls. Mustafizur Rahman then bowled the double-wicket penultimate over, sending both&nbsp;Patel and Thakur back to dash all hopes for India. The Men in Blue eventually folded out for 259 in 49.5 runs, handing Bangladesh a six-run win.

Earlier, both team had made five changes each in the Playing XI from their last game to give rest to big players ahead of next month's ODI World Cup.

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan wants his ODI World Cup bound players to be rested for the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Bangladesh, which is all but out of Asia Cup 2023 after loss against Sri Lanka on Saturday, September 9, are scheduled to host Kiwis from September 21. The series ends on September 26 and the two teams depart to India for the World Cup next day.

The reason Shakib gave while asking for the rest was to keep players 'fit and healthy' ahead of the big tournament which will involve a lot of travel. Bangladesh and New Zealand will also be playing two warm up matches on September 29 and October 2, respectively.

"We will try a few things in the three ODIs against New Zealand," Shakib said.

"If we can get one or two players from there who can fit into the team [later], it will be better for the team. Everyone has a chance [to play]. I personally believe that those who played in the Asia Cup could be rested from the New Zealand series, especially those who are confirmed for the World Cup.

"We cannot afford injuries in that big tournament which involves practice matches and lots of travel. We don't have a lot of bench strength. It is very important for us that players are fit and healthy for the World Cup. I want all four of our fast bowlers to remain fit, now that Ebadot [Hossain] is out," he added.

Keeping in mind the quadrennial tournament, New Zealand too have announced a second-string side led by fast bowler Lockie Ferguson for the Bangladesh ODIs.

The Kiwis are also battling with injury issues as their fast bowler Adam Milne has been ruled of the the ongoing ODI series against England and is doubtful for the Bangladesh matches as well as ODI World Cup.

BAN vs ENG T20I Series: World Champions England given reality check as hosts Bangladesh inflict 3-0 whitewash

On Wednesday (November 02), Rohit Sharma-led India beat Bangladesh by five runs, DLS method, to win their third game in the Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup in Australia. Being asked to bat first, India rode on fifties from KL Rahul (50) and Virat Kohli's unbeaten 64 to post a competitive 184-6. In reply, a brief rain break revised Bangla Tigers' target to 151 in 16 overs and they eventually managed 145-6.&nbsp;

During Bangladesh's run-chase, Virat Kohli made heads turn as it seemed he tried a fake fielding act during Litton Das-Najmul Shanton's opening stand. The incident took place in the seventh over and was later pointed out by keeper-batter Nurul Hasan (in post-match PC). Had Kohli been found guilty, India would've been penalised five runs -- which turned out to be the difference between both sides.&nbsp;

Bangladesh isn't letting go of the incident and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to raise the fake fielding issue in a 'proper forum'. BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus has claimed that captain Shakib spoke at length regarding the fake fielding issue and wet outfield with umpire Marais Erasmus and they plan to take up the issue going ahead.&nbsp;

"We have spoken about it. You have seen it in the TV and everything happened in front of you. There was one regarding fake throw and we have notified the umpires about the fake throw but he said he did not notice it and that is the reason he did not take the review. Shakib discussed a lot about it with Erasmus and even spoke with him after game," Jalal Yunus said as per a report in Cricbuzz.&nbsp;

"Secondly, Shakib had spoken about the wet field and he asked that he can take some more time and let the field get dried and start the game after the field is dried. But... the umpires' decision is final and that is reason there was no place for argument. There was only one decision whether you will play or not play," he further pointed out.

Jalal added, "We have it in our head so that we can raise the issue in the proper forum."

On Wednesday (November 02), Rohit Sharma-led India beat Bangladesh by five runs, DLS method, to win their third game in the Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup in Australia. Being asked to bat first, India rode on fifties from KL Rahul (50) and Virat Kohli's unbeaten 64 to post a competitive 184-6. In reply, a brief rain break revised Bangla Tigers' target to 151 in 16 overs and they eventually managed 145-6. During Bangladesh's run-chase, Virat Kohli made heads turn as it seemed he tried a fake fielding act during Litton Das-Najmul Shanton's opening stand. The incident took place in the seventh over and was later pointed out by keeper-batter Nurul Hasan (in post-match PC). Had Kohli been found guilty, India would've been penalised five runs -- which turned out to be the difference between both sides. Bangladesh isn't letting go of the incident and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to raise the fake fielding issue in a 'proper forum'. BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus has claimed that captain Shakib spoke at length regarding the fake fielding issue and wet outfield with umpire Marais Erasmus and they plan to take up the issue going ahead. You have seen it in the TV and everything happened in front of you.
