Ramiz Raja felt that Pakistan should have travelled with new players to Zimbabwe, who could have learnt something even if they lost. Pakistan had a successful tour against Zimbabwe as they cleaned up the hosts in the Test series 2-0 after winning the T20I series 2-1.

"Even if you lose with new players in the side, there is at least a silver lining that you figure out players are capable and those who aren't. You move on and test another player. With old players, who already who know what their value addition (to the team) is," Ramiz Raja said in a YouTube channel called 'The Indian News'.&nbsp;

Ramiz specified the reason behind senior and aged players not featuring in the T20Is.&nbsp;

"As far my understanding goes, I haven't seen a 40-45-year-old player in T20s on the international platform. It makes sense because your reflexes slow down and even if you were a world-class player, your performance drops to 50 percent," Ramiz explained.

He compared Pakistan's senior players with the Indian cricket team's former stalwarts MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar.&nbsp;

"We don't have players of that caliber. For example, MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, despite being at their 50%, were still very useful. This just reinforces the fear we have about losing matches. For the sake of winning, we are destroying the system," Ramiz opined.

"Move on with new players. It will at least give you a sense of direction. Against Zimbabwe, if you had gone with new players and lost, nobody would have said anything because it could have been an experimental tour. There are very few occasions where you can experiment against an international team. Like I have said earlier, they take one step forward and two steps backward," commented Ramiz.

Raja finally said that poor decisions during the under pressure situation is the reason why youngsters are a long way off.&nbsp;

"When the pressure increases, call back the old players. When the pressure increases, call back the fixers. when the pressure increases, you play an extra wicketkeeper as a middle-order batsman. That's now how teams are built. It just goes to show the state of our system wherein the new players are a long way behind," added Ramiz.

"In the recent squad there were many players who Babar wanted to pick, but they weren't selected. Everyone has their opinions but the final decision on selection should be that of the captain because it's he who will fight it out on the ground he with his team", he had added.

"Whatever is in my fate is in the hands of the Almighty and not in any person's control. I will have no regrets if I am not asked to play again, but I would have felt more regret if I had not spoken up on behalf of my fellow cricketers," Malik further said.

"I'm not against Misbah, he was an excellent cricketer and a good human and I respect him a lot. But I feel Misbah needed more time and he should have been asked to coach at the domestic level and then maybe brought in as Pakistan coach.

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has urged India to remain strong amid the devastating COVID-19 second wave while extending his wishes to the Indian citizens. <o:p></o:p>

As the pandemic continues to grapple India, Azam took to social media platform Twitter as he said it was time to show solidarity and pray together while hoping the surge comes under control soon.<o:p></o:p>

Former Pak cricketer Ramiz Raja lashed out at the Men in Green for their disappointing display. He uploaded a video on his YouTube channel where he said: "Pakistan players played reckless shots and there was no technique or partnership. [Blessing] Muzarabani was the only quality bowler in their [Zimbabwe] line-up and if you get a chance to watch the replays you will see that our batting seemed so ordinary against him.

Pakistan team looked like a rabbit in the headlights. They were expecting disasters, did not back themselves and showed an ordinary performance against a club level side. I'm shocked as to whether I should analyse this or express anger over this. This clearly is a very dark moment in our history," he added.

Zimbabwe come back from behind to seal first-ever T20I win against Pakistan

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has advanced one place to reach second position in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings in Wednesday’s weekly update based on performances in the last two games of their four-match series against South Africa.<o:p></o:p>

Babar’s superlative form had helped him replace India captain Virat Kohli at the top of the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings last week and this week’s update sees him make a strong 47-point surge to overtake Australia’s Aaron Finch in the T20I rankings after scoring 122 in the third match.<o:p></o:p>

Though Babar is still 48 points adrift of top-ranked Dawid Malan of England, a three-match series against Zimbabwe from Wednesday presents the 26-year-old with another opportunity to move towards the top spot, which he had occupied till November last year.<o:p></o:p>

Babar Azam on the cusp of overtaking Virat Kohli in major T20I record

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam on Wednesday became the number one batsman in One-Day International (ODI) cricket, according to the latest ICC ODI Players Rankings update.

Babar replaces Indian captain Virat Kohli at the top of the table with as many as 865 points. Kohli sits second in the latest ICC ODI Rankings with 857 points followed by Rohit Sharma, who has 825 points to his name.

Kohli was the number one ranked ODI batsman from August 2017 to April 2021, counting to 1,258 days.

By ending Kohli’s 1,258 day-supremacy, Babar has emulated compatriots Zaheer Abbas (1983-84), Javed Miandad (1988-89), and Mohammad Yousuf (2003) as the number one ODI batsman. In Tests, Babar has attained the best of the fifth position and is currently ranked sixth while in T20Is he is third but has been number one in the past.

Babar, who was the second-highest run-score in Pakistan’s recently concluded three-match ODI series against South Africa with 228 runs and the highest score of 103, has now dethroned Kohli to sit atop the ICC ODI Rankings.

Babar made his debut against Zimbabwe in 2015 and has amassed 3808 runs in 78 ODI innings at a splendid average of 56.83. The elegant right-handed batsman has 13 centuries and 17 half-centuries under his belt.&nbsp;

Javed, who is the head coach of Pakistan Super League (PSL) side Lahore Qalandars, compared Babar to Sachin Tendulkar as he said the former doesn’t have many weak areas just like the Master Blaster.<o:p></o:p>

South Africa, stripped of five key players because of Indian Premier League commitments, suffered two further blows when key batsman Rassie van der Dussen had to withdraw before the match with a quad injury, while captain Temba Bavuma appeared to suffer a hamstring injury, which could put his participation in the T20 series in doubt.

"He doesn't look good," said coach Mark Boucher, who stood in for Bavuma at the post-match presentation. "Not sure the near future is too good for him for us to see him on the field."

Fakhar Zaman hit 101 off 104 balls, his second successive century, and Babar made 94 off 82 deliveries to set up Pakistan's win. Babar was named man-of-the-match and Fakhar took the man-of-the-series award.

"It means a lot," said Fakhar. "For two years I didn't score that much."

Fakhar followed up his sensational 193 in the second match in Johannesburg with a measured start, scoring his first 50 off 62 balls before accelerating to his hundred.

"My plan was very simple," he said. "I was trying to play normally for the first 10 overs. On these grounds in the morning it is not easy to play with two new balls."

South Africa's chances of chasing down Pakistan's total of 320 for seven were effectively snuffed out by left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz, who took three wickets in successive overs to reduce the hosts to 140 for five in the 28th over.

Promising batsman Kyle Verreynne (62) and all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo (54) put on 108 off 100 balls for the sixth wicket but both were dismissed in the space of seven balls. South Africa were bowled out for 292.

Boucher said he was disappointed with the series result. "We never like to lose a series in your home conditions but throughout the series Pakistan were the better side."

Pakistan cricket team's skipper Babar Azam has said that his form has not been affected by the ongoing sexual harassment row and court cases against him. Babar said that&nbsp;as a sportsperson he is habituated to facing hurdles in life while adding that&nbsp;personal issues will not affect his cricket on the upcoming tours of South Africa and Zimbabwe.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"It is my personal issue and it is in court and my lawyer is handling it. We face all sorts of hurdles in life and I am used to it. This issue has not affected my form or cricket,"&nbsp;Babar&nbsp;said in a virtual press conference on Friday.&nbsp;

Azam is involved in court cases in Lahore after a woman named&nbsp;Hamiza&nbsp;Mukhtar filed several charges against him, including sexual harassment, threatening her, and false promises of marriage.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A Lahore court on Thursday asked the Federal Agency Cyber Crime Cell to file an FIR against Babar in connection with the case while ordering proper investigation as per the law.&nbsp;

Babar further confirmed that he had asked the selection committee to include hard-hitting opener Sharjeel Khan in the Pakistan T20 squad for the tour of South Africa, set to start from April 2.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"I have opened with him in the PSL and I know how destructive he can be.&nbsp;Yes,&nbsp;his fitness is up there but we will work on his fitness and improve it."&nbsp;&nbsp;

Babar also said that&nbsp;discussions held during selection committee meetings should remain confidential.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"They are always discussions and disagreements and agreements in selection committee meetings but in the&nbsp;end&nbsp;it is always for the betterment of the team and players and shouldn't come out of the room," Azam said.&nbsp;&nbsp;
