I think we will be ready very soon to tell the world what is coming first but we are not there yet because we’re in early stages of creative development.”</p>

<p>The new series will join the two existing Avatar animated series, Nickelodeon’s 2005 Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, which have reached a new generation of young fans through streaming on Netflix.</p>

The streamer's own live-action adaptation of the animated show hit a snag in August when the original creators departed the project over creative differences.<br />
<br />
The adaptation is still slated to happen, but in the meantime, ATLA fans will cling to any and all developments, like the reunion, a new comic, and the official Last Airbender cookbook.</p>

Grey Griffin (Azula), Jack De Sena (Sokka), Jennie Kwan (Suki), Olivia Hack (Ty Lee), Cricket Leigh (Mai), and Michaela Murphy (Toph) have all been announced as participants, with more to be revealed. Zachary Tyler Eisen, who voiced Aang, and Mae Whitman, who voiced Katara, have not been slated to participate yet, but Whitman was tagged by Basco in the Instagram post. While 'The Last Airbender' animated series ended in 2008, its legacy has continued thanks to streaming, especially as Netflix it and its sequel 'The Legend of Korra' to its library. The streamer's own live-action adaptation of the animated show hit a snag in August when the original creators departed the project over creative differences. The adaptation is still slated to happen, but in the meantime, ATLA fans will cling to any and all developments, like the reunion, a new comic, and the official Last Airbender cookbook.

'Avatar' sequel resumes filming in coronavirus-free New Zealand

<p>As New Zealand returned back to its normal life after lifting the lockdown, and beating coronavirus, international visitors have not been welcomed in the country yet.</p>

<p>However, a charter plane carrying nearly 60 film crew was welcomed in Wellington, drawing criticism from the opposition political leaders.</p>

<p>Right-wing party, ACT, leader&nbsp;&nbsp;David Seymour called this "an insult to working New Zealanders."</p>

<p>“What are the rules at the border? At the moment, it seems that if you’re a friend of the Government, you’re in business. If not, you’re on your own. There should be one rule for everyone... It’s unacceptable for politicians to be picking and choosing who can enter the country," he told the local media.</p>

<p>Pointing out the injustice between the exemptions,&nbsp;Seymour said many other industries, were depending in these special exemptions to bring back their skilled labourers back to the country to get the businesses up and running again. However, those businesses have been unable to get permissions.</p>

<p>"It certainly would seem some are not getting that same treatment. There must be a lot of small businesses wondering if there are different rules for different people... why does this particular venture get preferential treatment?," said&nbsp;National Party economic development spokesperson Judith Collins.</p>

<p>The crew flew in from Los Angeles to Wellington on an Air New Zealand Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, according to local news agencies. The crew has reached New Zealand to shoot Avatar and another secret un-named project.</p>

<p>“The two production companies met the criteria, providing employment to around 600 New Zealanders, and because of the significant level of economic activity from each production," Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment's Iain Cossar told local reporters, explaining how the projects needed to be shot in the country&nbsp;"as key cast are committed to future projects".</p>

<p>Producer Jon Landau posted on Instagram about his arrival in&nbsp; the country that won the battle against COVID-19. The crew has been quarantined for 14 days.</p>

<p>Officials have confirmed that all the cases were judged individually, without being lobbied by the studios. The candidates had to have a highly unusual talent or skill, and the project had to be time-sensitive. The projects are being assumed to provide a big financial boost to the country.</p>

<p>The team is in quarantine at QT Hotel on Cable Street in Wellington.</p>

I want to get back to work on Avatar, which right now we’re not allowed to do under state emergency laws or rules. So it’s all on hold right now. We were about to shoot down in New Zealand, so that got pushed. We’re trying to get back to it as quick as we can.”</p>

<p>“On the bright side, New Zealand seems to have been very effective in controlling the virus and their goal is not mitigation, but eradication, which they believe that they can do with aggressive contact tracing and testing,” he explained. “So there’s a very good chance that our shoot might be delayed a couple of months, but we can still do it. So that’s good news.”</p>

<p>The filmmaker also added, “We’ve got everybody – everybody at Weta Digital and Lightstorm – working from home to the extent that that is possible. But my work is on the stage doing the virtual cameras and so on, so I can do a bit of editing, but it’s not great for me.”</p>
