Everyone fears facing <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/jasprit-bumrah" rel="dofollow">Jasprit Bumrah</a>, even the mighty Aussies. The ace Indian quick is perhaps the greatest pacer produced in India, and if former Australia gloveman Adam Gilchrist&rsquo;s words are to be believed, he is the greatest ever to grace the game. Though it could sound too big a remark for this generational talent, if a three-time World Cup winner suggests, so be it.
Bumrah has returned from the back injury he sustained during the fifth Test Down Under (against Australia at the SCG) and continues to make merry for the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/mumbai-indians" rel="dofollow">Mumbai Indians</a> in <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/ipl-2025" rel="dofollow">IPL 2025</a>. His comeback triggered MI&rsquo;s winning run following a shallow start to the season, as they sit in the top position with 14 points from 11 contested matches thus far, including winning their past six games.

Although he&rsquo;s been making headlines since his return to the cash-rich league this time, having picked 11 wickets in seven innings, and including becoming MI&rsquo;s highest wicket-taker, the Indian seamer&nbsp;was all over the news before pulling out due to a back spasm on the Australian tour.
<h2>Bumrah bossed Oz</h2>
Against Australia during BGT 2024/25, Bumrah was the highest wicket-taker, picking 32 wickets in five Tests, seven more than the second-best in Australia captain Pat Cummins (25) while playing an inning less.
His tally was record-breaking on several counts, as he became the first Indian seamer to pick beyond 30 wickets on a tour Down Under; he also had the record for the most wickets picked up by an Indian bowler on Australian soil.
Bumrah returned with a six-wicket haul, two five-fors and a four-wicket haul this time, creating terror in the minds of the Aussie batters.&nbsp;
Speaking on the same lines, Gilchrist believes that never before has an Indian quick traumatised the Aussies the way Bumrah does.&nbsp;
"A seamer from India, consistently throughout, particularly the series that we just saw in the summer, back home in the Australian summer, no, I don't think so," Gilchrist replies when asked whether Australians were intimidated and afraid of a bowler from India like they were against Jasprit Bumrah before.
Cannot stop praising Bumrah, Gilchrist continued, "We just sat and watched in awe at close range, commentating on that series and again, I know it's a different format, but he is the best all-format bowler; that's nothing to argue there," the former wicketkeeper-batter said.
Meanwhile, Bumrah would be crucial to India&rsquo;s chances on their next away tour of England later this year, including five Tests, starting June 20.&nbsp;

A 22-year-old Australian man is suffering from a condition in which he is unable to differentiate between hot and cold. When he picks up something hot, he feels cold, and when he holds something cold, he gets a burning sensation. Aidan McManus' mystery illness started when he was just 17, Nine News reported.&nbsp;
He started to lose the feeling in his feet. His mother, Angela McManus told the outlet that he started complaining about feeling tingly and numb in his feet that were not swelling up. The doctor said it was fluid retention and gave him some medicine. Slowly, he started developing problems walking.&nbsp;
Angela said it felt "like he was walking on little tacks". However, he managed to finish High School despite only attending five weeks of classes. The numbness became worse, and he was referred to a neurologist.

The neurologist ran several tests over three years, but Aidan's condition remained a mystery. Angela said the doctor ran "20-odd blood tests" and conducted a biopsy on a piece of nerve.&nbsp;
He was finally diagnosed with generalised nerve disorder - axonal peripheral neuropathy. In this condition, a problem occurs with the way nerve cells transmit signals throughout the body. The cause of the problem could still not be determined.
Aidan ultimately took to a wheelchair as walking became almost impossible for him. He is facing problems with balance and coordination and can barely walk.

Australians are outraged after officials killed hundreds of koalas in Victoria in an apparent attempt to reduce their suffering, leaving their babies orphaned. Animal rights groups allege that the culling at Budj Bim National Park led to around 700 koalas losing their life. While authorities say it is for the good of the koalas, activists allege the senseless act also killed healthy koalas.
The mass culling happened in April following the devastating bushfires. Nearly 2,000 hectares of habitat were destroyed in the fire, leaving several koalas injured and starving. In a bid to put them out of their misery, authorities decided to euthanise them.
What triggered a hue and cry among activists and the public was the method employed to kill them. Authorities got marksmen to shoot at the koalas from helicopters. The method was slammed as inhumane and with no way of ensuring that only the injured koalas are killed.

Wildlife advocacy groups alleged that the decision about which koalas to kill was being taken from up to 30 metres away. They say that among the hundreds of dead koalas could have also been those who were perfectly healthy. Besides, many mother koalas also fell victim, leaving their babies with no one to take care of them.
They are now demanding an independent review of the government&rsquo;s handling of the operation. &ldquo;The use of aerial shooting should be treated as a last resort,&rdquo; said Friends of the Earth Melbourne.
&ldquo;This is the first time that koalas have been killed by shooting from a helicopter in Australia,&rdquo; the organisation said. &ldquo;Aerial culling of koalas is an Australian first and sets a nasty ethical precedent.&rdquo;
Notably, in Australia, shooting large brumbies and deer is a regular practice to control their population. However, koalas are rarely ever shot dead in this manner.
<h2>Koala joeys at risk of starvation</h2>
Friends of Earth Melbourne says that the site where the koalas were killed has been cordoned off, and rescuers are unable to save the joeys who are at risk of starving to death.
"If koalas were shot out of trees, this means many joeys would be left to suffer and die. It&rsquo;s despicable. It&rsquo;s cruel," Koala Alliance said in a statement on Facebook.
Meanwhile, the Victorian government has defended the operation, with Premier Jacinta Allan stating that wildlife assessments were carried out and expert veterinary advice was sought.
&ldquo;After an examination of the circumstances, this approach was deemed the way to really recognise the koalas were in a lot of distress,&rdquo; she said.&nbsp;
Notably, koalas are listed as endangered in Queensland, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

'Defacing incident': India raises concern with Australian authorities after miscreants vandalise Consulate in Melbourne

An IVF blunder in Australia led a woman to give birth to another couple's baby. The fertility clinic mixed up the embryos of the two couples and planted the wrong one in the birth mother. The baby was born last year, but the bungle only came to light when the couple asked for their remaining embryos.
Monash IVF, a popular fertility chain that operates across Australia, is at the centre of this horrific incident. The incident happened at its clinic in Brisbane. The woman gave birth to a baby in 2024. In February this year, the family asked to move their remaining embryos to a storage facility.&nbsp;
When the clinic checked on the embryos, they found an extra one than there should have been. "Instead of finding the expected number of embryos, an additional embryo remained in storage for the birth parents," a Monash IVF spokesperson said.

The clinic carried out an investigation and found that another patient's embryo had been transplanted in the womb of the woman who gave birth to the baby.&nbsp;
"The investigation confirmed that an embryo from a different patient had previously been incorrectly thawed and transferred to the birth parents, which resulted in the birth of a child," the spokesperson added.
<h2>Monash IVF apologises</h2>
The fertility chain said all protocols were followed while transferring the embryo and strict laboratory safety measures to safeguard the embryos were followed. It stated that the mix-up was the result of "human error".
Monash IVF has apologised to the parents for what is the first such incident in Australia. Chief executive Michael Knaap said the clinic is supporting both families involved.
"On behalf of Monash IVF, I want to say how truly sorry I am for what has happened," he said.&nbsp;
"All of us at Monash IVF are devastated, and we apologise to everyone involved."
The clinic confirmed that this is a one-off case.
"We have undertaken additional audits, and we&rsquo;re confident that this is an isolated incident."
Australian media reports suggest that the families are contemplating legal action against the clinic.&nbsp;
The matter is also being probed by independent investigators.

An investigation has been opened into the matter, although Metro Train Sydney insists that their trains are "safe" to ride. Daniel Williams, the head of Metro Train Sydney said the problem happened because of a fault and they are looking into it.&nbsp;
"At approximately 8.01 am, a door fault was identified on a train travelling between Chatswood and Crows Nest Station," Williams said.
"There was Customer Journey Coordinator (CJC) and Customer Operations Lead (COL) on board the service. They were contacted by our Operational Control Centre. They tried to remotely fix the issue."
<h2>It could have ended in "absolute catastrophe"</h2>
But the door remained jammed and could not be closed remotely. Later, the two Metro personnel standing at the door closed it manually with a special key. The train was put out of service. "The OCC instructed the frontline staff to manually close the door," Williams said.

Meanwhile, the Tram and Bus Union is not happy and is demanding that the metro trains be stopped to carry out safety checks. It is calling it the "worst rail safety incidents in a decade". The big question is, why was the train allowed to leave Chatswood station with a faulty door that would not close?
According to Sydney Metro, trains reach speeds of up to 100 km/h in the tunnel and touch 110 km/h in other areas.
Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RBTU) NSW secretary Toby Warnes said the incident "could have ended in disaster" and is "a sign of an incredibly immature safety culture."
"This could have ended in absolute catastrophe this morning, and we're lucky it didn't," he added.
"This train with its door open should never have left Chatswood station."

According to Sydney Metro, trains reach speeds of up to 100 km/h in the tunnel and touch 110 km/h in other areas. Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RBTU) NSW secretary Toby Warnes said the incident "could have ended in disaster" and is "a sign of an incredibly immature safety culture." "This could have ended in absolute catastrophe this morning, and we're lucky it didn't," he added. "This train with its door open should never have left Chatswood station."

A small town in Australia is offering a salary of AU$680,000 to any doctor who is willing to move to the quaint little place. Plus, there are other perks, like free rent and a car, on offer. Only about 500 people live in the town of Julia Creek, Queensland, where the salary on offer is double of what a family doctor earns on average in Brisbane, The Independent reported.
The town's only doctor is leaving and so the residents are now looking for another one. The problem is getting a physician to stay there because Julia Creek is located in an extremely remote location. It takes 17 hours to drive there from the state capital, Brisbane. A trip to Townsville, the main city near Julia Creek, takes about seven hours.
Living in this town comes with its challenges. The town is also infamous for its weather and the outback life. It gets extremely hot in Julia Creek, and it houses several tropical insects. However, it also has wide open spaces and an idyllic life where people can enjoy a serene setting.&nbsp;

Dr Adam Louws, who came to the town in 2022, says it might be a tough place to live in, but it is the perfect place for anyone who wants to experience a quieter life that is slow yet rewarding. He says Julia Creek led him to develop medical skills for which, in a big city, he would refer patients to another doctor. He also got a chance to learn how to milk dairy cows. After some research, he, his wife and four children left for Julia Creek.
<h2>Julia Creek has a "safe lifestyle"</h2>
Julia Creek made headlines in 2022 when it offered a salary of AU$500,000 to any doctor willing to settle there. Louws says his mother-in-law sent him the advertisement and called it "the half a million dollar job that no one wants."

Getting a doctor to settle in Julia Creek has been a problem for years. Before Louws, doctors used to visit the town for a short stay. This had been the case for the 15 years before Louws came. The nearest hospital is three hours away.
Janene Fegan, the mayor of McKinlay Shire, knew that to attract a doctor to the town, they needed to sell it hard. She was a part of the local health service&rsquo;s campaign that recruited Dr Louws and is once again back. She says Julia Creek has a "very, very good lifestyle and a very safe lifestyle."
