He is a huge admirer of Alia’s work and enjoys watching her on screen.

“When I saw 'Udta Punjab' (2016), I was blown away by her (Alia’s) performance. On the script level, if anybody would have told me that the role is being played by Alia, I would have been like, ‘I don’t know, can’t connect the dots’. But when I saw the film, I felt no one else could play the part the way Alia did. That’s the magic of an actor,” says Vicky, who can’t stop gushing about Alia’s performance.

“The power she holds as a performer can’t be expressed. There is a lot of honesty in her eyes that come across whenever she is playing a particular character. So, when someone like her is your co-star, it helps in many ways,” says Alia's co-star of the film

Vicky shares about the bond that both of them developed while shooting for 'Raazi' and also all the fun time that they had while shooting for the film is something that he would always cherish throughout his life.

When the 30-year-old actor was asked one thing about Alia that not many would know so he would simply laugh and tell. “She is the most accident-prone human being I have ever known. On the set, whenever you hear someone hurting herself, it has to be her. She would keep on banging her knee against the bed or her toe somewhere,” he shares.

He also told about one more funny incident from the sets, Vicky reveals that every time Alia would hold the gun, everyone would get worried.

“There are many instances in the film where she is holding a gun, so every time she was holding one, the person who is in front of the gun is not scared but everybody else used to get worried that she might end up hurting herself. Yes, she would hurt herself just by holding the gun,” he says.

'Raazi' box office collection: Alia Bhatt starrer continues a good run

It ultimately takes a woman to tell a tale of patriotism sans jingoism. Meghna Gulzar, who impressed one and all with her taut film Talvar in 2016, is back with another thriller - Raazi. And while the film has its emotions in place, the director, who is also the screenplay writer along with Bhavani Iyer, weaves an intricate espionage thriller which keeps you hooked throughout its two hours twenty minutes run time. There isn't any dull moment in Meghna Gulzar's Raazi.

The director dives into the main plot from the first itself. Sehmat (Alia Bhatt) is a college-going Kashmiri girl, whose father(Rajit Kapur) is a spy for the Indian intelligence. His dying wish is to send his daughter across the border as it's wartime. He cannot do the job anymore, and he feels his untrained, naive girl has grit and potential to become a spy. So Sehmat is married to Iqbal Syed(Vicky Kaushal), a Pakistani army officer. Iqbal's father is a top ranking army officer himself, who has contacts in the top rung - and hence Sehmat can fit in perfectly in the family and pass on the desired information at home.

Based on Harneet Singh's novel Calling Sehmat, which itself is based on a true story, Raazi recreates 1971 India and Pakistan. Of two countries on tenterhooks, on the brink of a war. Amid all of the tension, lies the story of a sensitive girl Sehmat and her transformation from a naive, innocent girl to a spy that history would perhaps be indebted to always. Raazi is Sehmat's story and Alia Bhatt fits in the character perfectly. Does she deliver? Mostly, yes. As the new daughter-in-law who is trying to fit into a new household, as the woman of steel, who knows what her job is and what she is there for. The only portions where Alia falters are the scenes which show her being trained. Where unsuspecting Sehmat is attacked by her trainer time and again to make her learn an important lesson in life. Every time her trainer attacks her to check her instincts, she yelps- in that's the most synthetic yelp I've ever heard. But truly that one little glitch can be ignored, for Alia, like always, delivers a mature, restraint performance.

The film also boaast some incredible male-actors. Vicky Kaushal as the unsuspecting, good guy Iqbal Syed brings a lot of vulnerability to his character. Kaushal always adapts himself to his characters. Be it in Masaan or Raman Raghav 2.0, or now Raazi, the actor brings in a lot of conviction to all his roles. I wish he had more screen time, but Kaushal reaches out to the audience with his soft, understated performance.

The other actor to watch out for in Raazi is Jaideep Ahlawat. Those who remember him in Gangs Of Wasseypur would know that Ahlawat has the ability to leave an impact despite his screen time. In Raazi, Ahlawat plays the spymaster, who may appear to be devoid of any emotions, but always knows what is right. Ahlwat's performance is sharp and smart making his character a memorable one.

Raazi though has a few things illogical. As it nosedives into the main plot, it takes some time to grasp the political scenario of that era. For those who were born much later, it may take some time to comprehend what is the backdrop of the film. Sehmat's communications with Indian intelligence happens through set up inside the bathroom right next to a big window, which remains open for view from the main entrance of the house. Also, its a family of army officers, yet when things go awry, no one suspects the Indian bahu within them. They all seem to have believed she has converted.

Raazi though overcomes these glitches quite well. From the soulful music by Shankar Ehsan Loy and Gulzar's beautiful lyrics (Ae Watan is my favourite) to editor Nitin Baid's timely cuts which make the thriller overboard to the mellow, matter-of-fact story that doesn't take sides- Raazi is a winner throughout.

Raazi comes at a time when the entire nation is enthused about the idea of nationalism. Yet, the film doesn't do unnecessary bashing, doesn't take sides, and presents a patriotic film - a story that would make you proud of your country and numerous unsung heroes. Which is why the film is relevant for our times.

There are ways of showing one's love for the motherland, and often we resort to polarised, chest-thumping patriotism. Raazi shows how its okay to not be jingoistic and yet appreciate our motherland.

Raazi: Alia Bhatt film is textbook example of how to make espionage thrillers sans jingoism

Alia Bhatt, with her choice of movies and performances all these years has proven herself to be a versatile actress of great calibre. Promoting her soon-to-release film Raazi in which she plays an Indian spy, Alia was seen in a jovial mood.

The title track of the film released today establishing Alia’s character -- that intense, powerful and quite gripping. The song traces the journey of Sehmat, an Indian girl who gets married to a Pakistani officer with an aim to leak information to Indian counterparts. She eavesdrops on conservation, converses in Morse code and fires bullets without so much as a flinch.

The song sung by Arijit Singh is composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy as the lyrics are penned by Gulzar.

Apart from Alia, the film also stars Vicky Kaushal, Amruta Khanvilkar, Rajit Kapoor, Shishir Sharma, Jaideep Ahlawat, Ashwath Bhatt and Soni Razdan in pivotal roles. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Raazi is produced by Vineet Jain, Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar & Apoorva Mehta.

Talking about challenges while shooting for Raazi, Alia said, "Learning to drive the jeep and all those things were technical things. But the real challenge was to play the character. These things are there just to pad up the character, so it makes my life a little easier. But these are not what I can depend on to make my character outstanding."
'Raazi' title track released: Alia Bhatt as an Indian spy is inspiring!

Ever since the trailer for the film, Raazi released, almost everyone has been talking about Alia Bhatt’s impeccable acting skills and her versatility. While we loved the first song 'Ae Watan' that Alia even managed to sing on several occasions, there is now another song release from the film and its titled Dilbaro.

As the story is set in Kashmir and its surrounding areas, the song also has a nuanced Kashmiri vibe to it. Composed by musicians Shankar-Eshaan-Loy, the song is catchy and will tear you up as you see Alia divided between her choices and priorities.

The song highlights a daughter’s pain in getting married and leaving her parents’ side -- to live with her husband and his family. Sung by Harshdeep Kaur, the song depicts the conflict in Alia’s mind.

In the film Raazi, she plays the role of an Indian spy married to a well-placed Pakistani army officer, played by Vicky Kaushal. The video also focuses on her on-screen father, Rajit Kapoor, who voluntary sends away his daughter for the sake of the country.

Sharing the song, Alia wrote, “#Dilbaro is a song that made me tear up the first time I heard it.. the lyrics are simple, powerful and just beautiful. Written by the maestro Gulzar Saab. I couldn’t help but think of my father who’s held my hand but also let my fly.. my most special friendship! Love you papa.”

The film Raazi is based on the book, Calling Sehmat, by Harinder Sikka. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt a couple? Alia clears the air

She is just 25 years old. But in a span of 6 years, Alia Bhatt has carved a niche for herself in the Hindi film industry. One of the very few actresses who has experimented with varied films and roles, Alia, from a young age - she made her debut at 19- has steered clear of doing stereotypical roles.

From an urban girl suffering from depression in Dear Zindagi, to a Bihari immigrant who fights the odds to break free in Udta Punjab, Alia has never stuck to tried and tested roles and tried to take up films that are vastly different from each other.

in her 25th year, she has much to look forward to. She is playing a spy in Meghna Gulzar's Raazi, she is part of Ayan Mukherji's futuristic Brahmastra and Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy.

On her birthday, here is a look back at the films that made her the star that she is.

Highway: After a very glamorous debut in Karan Johar's Student Of The Year, no one would have ever thought that Alia Bhatt was capable enough to pull off a difficult role of Veera in Imtiaz Ali's Highway. Highway was a film that dealt with uncomfortable issues, and it required a certain amount of maturity to pull off the role with ease and Alia restraint performance won hearts.

2 States: Abhishek Verman's screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's bestseller had Alia playing an ambitious, confident, independent modern woman- something a lot of women could relate to. He performance and her role was also very different from what she portrayed in Highway and it helped in highlighting her versatility.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania: A typical family entertainer, both Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan were exceptionally good in their respective roles making the film popular across age groups. Their onscreen chemistry was crackling and the film gave the gen-next a new hit pair.

Kapoor and Sons: She had a small role to play in the ensemble film- but nevertheless made an impact. Her immense popularity ensured that makers included her in all promotional activities of the film even though she was not part of the core story. But the scenes that needed her to emote( that scene where she reveals how she misses her parents) - Alia was absolutely on point.

Udta Punjab: Perhaps the most difficult role for Alia's career, it had her playing a Bihari immigrant in Punjab who is held captive and raped repeatedly by her kidnappers. To bear the pain she gets addicted to drugs and how after months of withstanding abuse, she breaks free and escapes. The powerful film had other credible performances as well from Shahid Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh and Kareena Kapoor- but it is Alia who stood out the most. For an urban girl, to understand her character and the hardships that she goes through- Alia showed amazing maturity while performing the role.

Dear Zindagi: The film may not have shattered Box Office records, but Alia's character and the film overall connected with the millennials for it addressed everyday problems that young people go through. Love, career, unnecessary expectations from friends and family- the story ticked all the boxes and even gave solutions! The film had SRK in an extended cameo and despite his looming presence, Alia managed to shine the brightest in the film.

In a statement, Alia said, "I prefer having vegetarian food. It is a way to healthy life." Although Rajkummar did not comment on winning the title, his co-star Ayushmann Khurrana stated that the actor doesn't have any bad habits, as he "doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, doesn't have non-vegetarian, and talks in a good way." "Alia Bhatt and Rajkummar Rao are fit, hot, and compassionate, and they're setting a great example for their fans and millions of other people who want to fight climate change with their forks," said Sachin Bangera, PETA's associate director of celebrity and public relations. "Both of PETA's winners prove that there's nothing sexier than compassion towards animals, which these celebrities show every time that they sit down for a meal."
