Chris Gayle survived a major injury scare during West Indies' World Cup match against New Zealand on June 22 when his over-exuberant celebration saw him nearly pop his shoulder out.

After taking the wicket of New Zealand's Ross Taylor, Gaylejumped in the air and pushed his right hand forward after Jason Holder grabbed the catch.

Gayle saw the funny side as he clutched on to his shoulder after the celebration.

In the match, New Zealand moved one step closer to enter the semi-finals after defeating Windies by five runs in a very close contest.

Kane Williamson's 148-run knock laid the foundations for New Zealand's 291-8 at Old Trafford.

In a thrilling run-chase, West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite hit 101 from 82 balls to carry his team to the brink of victory before being caught on the boundary going for what would have been the winning six.
