Pakistan calls out Germany after attack by Afghan nationals on consulate in Frankfurt

In a strongly worded statement, Pakistan’s foreign ministry has called out loud on the German side following their failure to protect Pakistan’s consular premises in Frankfurt.
The incident in question pertains to the attack and vandalism at the Pakistani consulate on the 20th of July whenAfghan nationals had gathered outside after being granted the permission by German police to protest against the death of Pakistani Pashtun nationalist poet Gilaman Wazir, in Islamabadearlier this month.
A handful of protesters entered the Pakistani consulate, pelted stones, vandalised the premises, and took the flag down and then replaced it with the flag of Afghanistan.
Witnesses confirmed that some protesterswho violated the permission of protestwere arrested. Officials say that the German side has assured that those involved will be identified with the helpofvideo footage and taken to task for vandalism.
Pakistan, meanwhile, in its statement called on the German side's lack of ability to protect the consulate while reminding the German government about its responsibility to protect the diplomatic premises under the Vienna Convention for Consular Relations(VCCR) 1963.

The foreign office in its statement said, “In yesterday’s incident, the security of Pakistan's consulate in Frankfurt was breached, endangering the lives of its consular staff”, adding, “We are conveying our strong protest to the German Government”.
Pakistan has urged Germany to fulfil its responsibility under the VCCR as the host government and has hoped that those involved will be arrested and prosecuted.
