The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rains in Tamil Nadu in the next 24 hours.
Chennai has been hit by continuous downpour sinceThursday evening with the city completely waterlogged.
State minister KP Anbalagan said: "Rain has come all of a sudden. This is nature's fury, you must understand. We are working on a war footing to clear the water. "
