Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi on the second leg of his three-nation tour.
PM Modi, who was given a ceremonial reception in Abu Dhabi, met the crown prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the presidential palace.
PM Modi thanked the crown prince on Twitter. He wrote that his visit included a "wide range of programmes" which would have a positive impact on India's ties with the UAE.
"We warmly welcome our state guest and valued friend, the Indian Prime Minister H.E.@narendramodi to the UAE. His visit reflects our longstanding historical ties and is a testament to our friendly bilateral relationship," Mohammed Bin Zayed tweeted.

The crown prince and PM Modi held delegation-level talks. Five government to government Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between the two countries in the presence of the two leaders in the fields ofenergy sector, railways, manpower and financial services.
PM Modi will also witness the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, home to over three million people of Indian origin.
The Indian prime minister is scheduled to address the Indian community tomorrow in Dubai. He will also deliver a keynote address at the World Government Summit in Dubai where India is a guest of honour this year.
This is PM Modi's second visit to the UAE after his 2015 trip to the country.
"The first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi will come up on 55,000 square metres of land and the groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday will be a historic event," said Indian Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi visited Palestine's Ramallah, becoming the first Indian prime minister to visit the country. He signed six MoUswith Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and reaffirmed India's support to the Palestinian cause.
The prime minister's next stop will be Muscat which he will visit on February 11, before returning to Delhi the following day.
