#MeToo: Most sexual harassment cases in India reported from IT sector

Though the me-too movement has taken the social media in India by storm a survey conducted by a leading newspaper and private firms revealsthat the movement has not changed much on the ground.

The report states that about 70 per cent of women do not report such harassment cases.

In the year 2018, the National Women Commission has received only 718 complaints of harassment at the workplace.

The report also revealed that in the year 2017 the majority of sexual harassment cases at workplaces were reported in the Information and Technology sector.

The sector's share is a staggering 65 per cent.

About 40 per centof the IT companies lack an internal complaints committee to probe harassment cases, the report said.
