Wayanad landslide tragedy: Allu Arjun donates ₹25 lakh to Kerala CM Relief Fund

Rescue operationsin the landslide-affected areas of theIndian state of Kerala's Wayanad are underway.As of Sunday (Aug 3), the death toll crossed 360, with at least 206 people still believed to be missing.

On Sunday, superstar Allu Arjun joined a groupof celebrities who have steppedforward to donate for relief efforts in the landslide-hit Wayanad. The actor has donated ₹25 lakh to the Kerala CM Relief Fund.

Taking to his social media handle, the actor expressed his solidarity withthe victims affected by the landslides

Arjun's statement read, “I am deeply saddened by the recent landslide in Wayanad. Kerala has always given me so much love, and I want to do my bit by donating ₹25 lakh to the Kerala CM Relief Fund to support the rehabilitation work. Praying for your safety and strength." The caption for the post read, “Praying for the safety and strength of the people of Kerala.”

Before Arjun, several South Indian actors, including Suriya, Jyotika, Vikram, Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan among others have donated millions to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.

On Saturday (Aug 4), Mohanlal visited landslide-hit Wayanad and pledged to donate ₹3 crore for the rehabilitation work of the disaster-hit region.

Mohanlal, who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army, was donning his army uniform.

Speaking to the media, Mohanlal said, "The magnitude of the landslide can only be comprehended by witnessing it firsthand. The Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the NDRF, the Fire and Rescue, the other organisations, locals etc., who all are part of the rescue operations have done a wonderful job," he said.
