Matthew Perry’s death: Arrest made in connection with Friends actor’s ketamine overdose death

A new update has emerged on actor Matthew Perry's death fromketamine overdose. On Thursday, it was reported that an arrest had been made in connection with Perry's overdose death in 2023, law enforcement sources confirmed to NBC News.

Perry, known for playing Chandler Bing in the 90s sitcom Friends, died at his luxury Los Angeles home on Oct 28, 2023. In December, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office revealed that the cause of his death was "the acute effects of ketamine," a controlled drug the recovering addict was understood to be taking as part of supervised therapy.

As per NBC, one arrest has been made. However, TMZ reported that "multiple" arrests have been made, including one doctor, who delivered drugs to Perry.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that multiple law enforcement agencies have executed search warrants and seized computers, phones and other electronic equipment to determine who supplied ketamine to Perry, which led to his death.

Following the news of the arrest, Perry’s stepfather,Keith Morrison, who is married to Perry’s mother, Suzanne Perry, said in astatement to NBC News, “We were and still are heartbroken by Matthew’s death, but it has helped to know law enforcement has taken his case very seriously." "We look forward to justice taking its course.”

No further details about the arrest have been revealed yet.

The beloved Friends star,who has been very vocal about his struggles with addiction and drugs, had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy as a treatment for his depression and anxiety. The actor's last session took place a week before his death. However, the medical examiner said in the autopsy report that a highamount of ketamine was found in Perry's system.

“At the high levels of ketamine found in his postmortem blood specimens, the main lethal effects would be from both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression,” the report reads.

After8-months of his death, in May 2024,Los Angeles police confirmedthat they were probing the death.
