American TV personality and fitness coach Richard Simmons is no more. The energetic celebrity guru passed away on July 13. He was 76.

As per the reports, Simmons was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Saturday. The cause of his death has not been revealed yet.

The LA Police department arrived at his home at 9:57 a.m. on Saturday after receiving a 911 call. The spokesperson added that “an investigation is still being conducted.”

Simmons' death was confirmed by his brother Lenny Simmons. In the statement, he shared,  “I don’t want people to be sad about my brother, I want them to remember him for the genuine joy and love he brought to people’s lives. He truly cared about people. He called, wrote, and emailed thousands of people throughout his career to offer help. So don’t be sad. Celebrate his life.”

The 80s fitness pioneer died a day after he celebrated his 76th birthday on July 12.  Did you know Simmons was a healthy boy from his childhood and used to face a lot of bullying over being overweight? Always struggles with his weight, at one point in his life, his weight was around 268 pounds.  Learning from his journey of weight loss, struggle and transformation, he went on to start his journey as a coach to help others achieve their fitness goals.

Simmons rose to success in the 1970s and 80s when he opened a chain of gyms and fitness centres starting from The Anatomy Asylum in Los Angeles. He became widely known in the elite class of LA and across the country for his workout videos and books.

Soon after his death was confirmed, tributes started pouring in. 

Remembering Simmons, American comedian and actor Pauly Shore wrote, ''I just got word like everyone else that the beautiful Richard Simmons has passed. I hope you’re at peace and twinkling up in the heavens. Please give my mother Mitzi and my father Sammy a big hug and a kiss for me. You’re one of a kind, Richard. An amazing life. An amazing story. They broke the dolphin shorts when they made you. Rest in peace, my friend. Rest in peace.''
