Charlize Theron, Seth Rogen's romantic-comedy gets ready to release

Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen are now coming together for a romantic comedy titled ‘Long Shot’ in which they play an unlikely pair with the actress playing a politician and the actor playing an unemployed dishevelled journalist.

In the film, Charlize plays the role of US Secretary of State Charlotte Field in the movie, an ambitious politician who aims to become the next president. When she meets Seth, they start working together as he becomes her speechwriter. They have had a history with Charlize at one point even babysitting him as kids.

On the role, Charlize told Reuters, "I read a couple of biographies on the female secretary of states. We had some speechwriters on the set who were really helpful and just kind of explaining logistics of the job.”

She added, "I never really wanted her to be based on somebody, I just wanted it to be believable."

Seth, meanwhile, plays a visually struck journalist who gets awed by Charlize and ends up falling down a flight of stairs on his first encounter with her, as shown in the trailer. He said this was "stylistically based on some of the journalists that have interviewed me in the past. I notice that a lot of them dress like 12-year-olds.’

Director Jonathan Levine said the actors did a lot of improvisation on set and that the movie sought to touch on some real life matters in a funny way. He said, "Once we figured out we needed to make it close enough to real life that we could comment on real life but far enough that we wouldn't inspire people's anger about everyday things, that's when we really felt like we had found our lane.”

‘Long Shot’ hits cinemas worldwide from this Wednesday.
