Andrew Garfield will take up the role of Spider-Man in a beat as he finds the role “full of joy”. If ever given a chance in a future Marvel film, Andrew would love to take up the role, he said in a recent interview.
Andrew Garfield first played the superhero in the 2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man and returned for its sequel in 2014. Post that film, Andrew wasn’t cast as Spider-Man and Sony didn’t go ahead with a third film.
Speaking about The Amazing Spider-Man 3 getting shelved, “It was really healing for me.”
When asked if he would look at the possibility of donning the Spider-Man suit again if given a chance, Andrew said, “For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into,” he told the publication. “I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.”
We last saw Andrew Garfield in the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021 with fellow Spider-Man heroes, Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland. Tobey was the original Spider-Man and Andrew was cast after him. Meanwhile, Tom Holland took over the baton from Garfield.
When the film came out, to gauge everyone's reactions, he snuck into a theatre with Tobey. “I still can’t believe it happened. I snuck into a theatre on opening night and just watched with my baseball cap on and my mask.”
