'Let’s celebrate,' India skipper Rohit Sharma invites fans to join 2024 T20 World Cup victory parade

India skipper Rohit Sharma has sent an open invite to the fans to join the team for open bus parade to celebrate India's 2024 T20 World Cup win. India beat South Africa on Saturday (June 29) to clinch their second T20 WC title. They had first won in the inaugural edition in 2007.
The Rohit Sharma-led team was stuck in Barbados - the venue of the final - since Saturday due to Cyclone Beryl. They boarded the plane on Tuesday (Jul 3), only after the airport was opened.

Rohit, asking fans to come and celebrate the win, wrote on X: "let’s celebrate this win with a victory parade at Marine Drive & Wankhede on July 4th from 5:00pm onwards. It’s coming home.”
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also asked the fans to join the parade celebration of India's sixth ICC trophy.
“Join us for the Victory Parade honouring Team India's World Cup win! Head to Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium on July 4th from 5:00 pm onwards to celebrate with us! Save the date!,” wrote board secretary Jay Shah on X.

Upon arrival, on Thursday (July 4), the Rohit-led side have a busy schedule as they will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi before leaving for Mumbai for a bus parade, as per reports.
They will head to the victory parade after landing in Mumbai which will end at Wankhede stadium. A small celebration is also planned at the stadium before the players leave the venue.
India won the 20-nation event, held in West Indies and the USA, to become only the third team -- after West Indies and England -- with two T20 WCs. In addition, they became the first side to win the mega event without a loss, winning eight matches on the trot.
