The United States has announced a reward of up to $20 million for information about Iran's nuclear programme, including its facilities, equipment and personnel. The offer also includes possible relocation for those providing useful information, as Washington continues diplomatic efforts to end the more than eight-month-old war. "Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $20 million and possible relocation for information about Iran’s nuclear program, including its facilities, equipment, and associated personnel, such as those in the scientific community, or the movement of any of the above," Centcom said.

Pedro Alliana took over as Paraguay's president on Friday following the impeachment of his predecessor, Santiago Pena, over a major banking crisis that left nearly half the country's population unable to access their accounts. Senators appointed Alliana, who previously served as vice president, shortly after voting to remove Pena following the chaotic collapse of a bank with which he had links. Senate President Basilio Nunez declared Pena guilty of poor performance in his duties after 44 of the 45 senators voted in favour of impeachment. One senator was absent. Hundreds of people gathered outside Congress and loudly celebrated Pena's removal from office. "Justice has been done. Now we want him to give us back our money and go to jail," Jessica Aquino, 32, told AFP. Minutes after his impeachment, Paraguayan authorities placed the former president under house arrest, prosecutor Silvia Margarita Gonzalez Vester told reporters. Alliana pledged that the government would not abandon the nearly three million depositors, including pensioners, affected by Ueno Bank's takeover amid concerns over its insolvency. "Compatriots who are now going through a difficult time as a result of the financial collapse will be fully compensated," Alliana said. He will remain president until 2028. Opposition lawmakers had also submitted a motion seeking Alliana's impeachment over the crisis, but the proposal failed to secure congressional approval.
Money begins returning to depositors
The collapse of the bank triggered street demonstrations, with thousands demanding accountability from US-backed Pena. Until last year, he held a stake in Grupo Vazquez, the company that controlled Ueno. A Central Bank official told AFP that advance payments to an unspecified number of affected depositors started on Thursday afternoon. Jose Maciel of the Central Bank's Deposit Guarantee Fund said the first phase of payments, amounting to approximately $1,600, would be directed to customers who have no outstanding loans and maintain accounts with another bank or financial institution in Paraguay to receive the money. The remaining beneficiaries "will be announced progressively over the course of the payment process," he added. Although Pena had offered to resign following the banking crisis, lawmakers continued with impeachment proceedings, resulting in the removal of his political immunity. It subsequently expanded into a major bank, managing state pensions and accounts belonging to several government entities. The scandal has already resulted in the departures of Central Bank President Carlos Carvallo and Interior Minister Enrique Riera. Meanwhile, eight Ueno executives have been arrested. Police also carried out raids on several locations associated with Grupo Vazquez on Wednesday and Thursday. The crisis also affected neighbouring Argentina, where approximately 1,000 employees of technology company ITTI, part of Grupo Vazquez, were suspended for 30 days without pay. The fallout extended to football as well. Ueno Bank sponsors several first-division football clubs and Paraguay's national team. "We were also victims of this situation," members of the national team said in a statement posted on X.

The shooting took place near the National Mall shortly after a motorcade carrying Vice President JD Vance passed through the area, according to USSS Deputy Director Matthew Quinn. Speaking to reporters, Quinn said he did not believe the vice president was the intended target. He added that authorities had yet to establish whether the incident was connected to recent threats against President Donald Trump. A man was arrested in October 2025, after crashing his vehicle into a security gate near the White House, officials said. The incident took place at approximately 10:37 pm at a security checkpoint near one of the White House entrances. United States Secret Service agents promptly took the driver into custody following the crash. Authorities have not yet disclosed the man's identity or the possible motive behind the incident. Officials subsequently searched the vehicle and confirmed that it did not pose a security threat. The incident attracted attention on social media, with videos showing Secret Service personnel inspecting the damaged vehicle, taking measurements and documenting the scene.

A federal judge has temporarily blocked construction of President Donald Trump’s proposed triumphal arch for 14 days, hours after a federal planning commission approved the controversial 250-foot monument despite strong public opposition. The National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC), one of two federal agencies responsible for overseeing architectural and design changes in Washington, approved the project during a virtual meeting on Thursday. The decision came after more than 120 citizens, including several veterans, urged the commission to reject the proposal during an extensive public hearing. Following more than eight hours of public testimony, the commission voted 8-4 in favor of the arch at approximately 10:29 pm. Less than an hour after the decision, US District Judge Tanya Chutkan, an Obama appointee overseeing a high-profile lawsuit seeking to stop the construction, issued an order prohibiting the Trump administration, which is named as a defendant in the case, from initiating, making or otherwise effectuating any construction-related activity near the proposed location. The judge cited potential economic consequences and traffic disruptions among the concerns surrounding the project. The Trump administration had indicated that construction could begin immediately following the commission's final approval. Following the midterm defeat, several allies and associates urged Trump to make changes to his senior staff. They argued that the White House needed a different approach, according to a source familiar with the discussions. Miller, who currently serves as deputy chief of staff, has been the driving force behind several of Trump's most controversial policy priorities. Over the past year, he has expanded his responsibilities to cover broad areas of domestic policy and advocated for an expansive interpretation of executive power. Miller has been associated with Trump since his first presidential campaign, which began in 2015. In a statement posted on X, Wiles described her time working for Trump as “the honor of a lifetime” and said she was “proud to have been a part of what we’ve accomplished together.” “While my role may be changing, my commitment to the President and the mission never will,” she added. Over the past several days, Trump had asked allies whether they thought Miller would be an appropriate choice to replace Wiles, according to one person familiar with the conversations. He also considered Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton as a possible candidate, the source said. Before becoming the first woman to serve as White House chief of staff, Wiles managed Trump's 2024 presidential campaign. She recently announced that she had completed treatment for breast cancer.

During his first presidential term, Trump went through four chiefs of staff. Wiles remained in the position longer than any of her predecessors. Her approach involved avoiding fundamental changes to the way Trump performed his presidential duties or altering his priorities. Instead, she worked to use influential individuals within Trump's circle to help shape his governing agenda. Trump frequently referred to Wiles as his “ice maiden” because of her no-nonsense approach. As recently as last month, the president had insisted that she would continue in the position for the foreseeable future. “Susie is here and she’s gonna be here for a long time,” he said on October 16.

Sylvia, a recipient of multiple military honours, including the Distinguished Service Medal, served as Director for Strategy, Plans and Policy at the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2025. But what led to his removal? According to reports, Sylvia allegedly failed four polygraph tests and admitted to sharing classified information with two media organisations since last year. The leaked information reportedly included details about US ammunition stockpiles and high-level inter-agency discussions concerning Iran. However, the allegations do not end there. Investigators are also reportedly examining a Signal message thread that Sylvia allegedly deleted after communicating with a journalist about US assistance to Ukraine. He also reportedly came under scrutiny for allegedly discussing Hegseth's controversial removal of several senior military officers. The allegations could potentially constitute violations of America's Uniform Code of Military Justice, including conduct unbecoming of an officer. Following news of Sylvia's removal, the Pentagon issued a statement without directly naming him, reiterating its zero-tolerance policy towards the unauthorised disclosure of classified information. A Pentagon spokesperson said: "Anyone who compromises sensitive national security information puts the lives of our warriors at risk, and undermines every military operation that keeps our country safe." The department also confirmed that the matter had been referred to the US Department of Justice for further legal action. The developments come amid President Donald Trump's increasingly tough stance on classified information leaks. Meanwhile, Hegseth's tenure as Secretary of War has been marked by a sweeping shake-up of America's military leadership. Since he took office, at least 26 generals and admirals have reportedly resigned or been removed from their positions. Hegseth has defended the leadership purge, arguing that it is necessary to strengthen accountability within the armed forces. The administration has also reportedly reduced the number of generals, admirals and senior officers by around 20 per cent. With a possible court-martial now looming over one of the Pentagon's senior strategists, questions are mounting over classified intelligence, military accountability and the growing upheaval within America's top military leadership.

A secret arms deal. A defiant Tehran. And a weakened Donald Trump facing an increasingly complicated war. As tensions between Washington and Tehran threaten to spiral out of control, Russia's military partnership with Iran is once again coming under the spotlight. And this time, the revelations could have serious implications for the United States. According to reports, Moscow agreed to supply Iran with 90 launchers for its LMUR missile system — a precision-guided missile designed to strike moving targets. The weapon has been deployed by Russian forces in the Ukraine war since 2022. The reported delivery schedule stretched from late 2024 to December 2025. But this is not an isolated military transaction. It is part of a much wider defence partnership between Moscow and Tehran.Iran has supplied Russia with Shahed kamikaze drones, extensively used in attacks on Ukrainian cities. And earlier reports suggested that Moscow was also secretly assisting Tehran in developing supersonic cruise missiles capable of threatening American warships in West Asia. These missiles are particularly dangerous because of their ability to fly at low altitudes and reach speeds of up to 2,200 kilometres per hour, making interception significantly more challenging. Yet, despite these growing concerns, Donald Trump has repeatedly downplayed Russia's military support for Iran. Why? Because Washington has been trying to keep Moscow engaged in negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. Trump has also faced pressure over rising energy prices and the need to secure additional supplies.

Last month, the U.S. president claimed that Russia was doing very little to assist Tehran, signalling that he did not want to alienate Vladimir Putin. But developments on the ground suggest that Moscow's relationship with Iran may be far more significant than Washington is willing to acknowledge. Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme National Security Council chief, Mohsen Rezaei, met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Rezaei reportedly delivered a message from Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, to the Russian president. Putin, in turn, reportedly expressed his willingness to help bring the conflict to an end. But Tehran is making one thing abundantly clear. It is not prepared to surrender its negotiating position. Iran has insisted that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed and negotiations will not resume until Washington meets its seven conditions.Although Tehran has not publicly disclosed the complete list, its earlier demands have included:

An end to hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.

An end to the naval blockade.

The lifting of sanctions.

The release of frozen Iranian assets.

War reparations.

In other words, Iran is refusing to negotiate under pressure. And Donald Trump now faces a crucial decision. Following a meeting with his national security team, the U.S. president indicated that he would soon decide whether to resume an all-out war against Iran. He also issued another chilling warning to Tehran. This is not the first time Trump has resorted to extraordinary threats. At the height of the conflict on April 7, he warned that an entire civilisation could die that night. The threat was intended to force Iran into submission. But Trump subsequently stepped back, announcing a two-week ceasefire, subject to Iran agreeing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Now, a new diplomatic opening may be emerging. According to Reuters, Iran has sent a nuclear proposal to the United States through Qatar. However, Tehran wants Washington to meet its seven demands before nuclear negotiations can begin. When asked about the future of Iran's nuclear programme, Trump offered his response. Meanwhile, Qatar is stepping up its diplomatic efforts to prevent another escalation. The Emir of Qatar held a telephone conversation with Trump, warning against further escalation and discussing mediation efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement. Qatari mediators are reportedly pushing for a two-day confidence-building arrangement. Under the proposed framework, the United States would lift its naval blockade and release some frozen Iranian assets on the first day. On the second day, the Strait of Hormuz would reopen. Nuclear negotiations would then resume, with particular focus on Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium. Diplomatic activity has also intensified across West Asia.Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a series of telephone conversations with counterparts from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, the UAE, Oman and Egypt. The flurry of calls underscores the growing regional urgency to prevent the conflict from escalating into a much wider confrontation. But the political crisis facing Trump is not limited to Iran. The White House has also been forced to dismiss speculation that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth could leave their positions following the administration's midterm setback. Hegseth, meanwhile, is facing the possibility of impeachment. Yet Trump has once again thrown his weight behind his defence chief. The president highlighted what he described as Hegseth's achievements, including the reported capture of Venezuela's deposed president, Nicolas Maduro, and the military campaign against Iran. Hegseth, for his part, has vowed to continue fighting. So, the question now is whether Trump can afford another military escalation while Russia continues to strengthen its strategic relationship with Iran. Moscow appears determined to preserve its influence in Tehran. Iran is refusing to back down. And Washington is running out of easy options. With the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear question and Russia's military involvement all hanging in the balance, the next move could reshape the geopolitical landscape of West Asia.

Israel's opposition said Friday (Nov 06) it was making headway in its attempt to unseat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after one of its leaders lifted his veto on demands that ultra-Orthodox Jews serve in the military, opening the door to a once improbable alliance. Neither Netanyahu, Israel's longest-serving prime minister, nor opposition chief Gadi Eisenkot reached a majority in the October 27 election, with Israeli society deeply polarised over Netanyahu and worn down by three years of war.
Eisenkot expects the mandate
Eisenkot said he expects President Isaac Herzog, who met party leaders this week, to hand him the mandate to form a government when he makes his announcement Sunday. "We have made significant progress and achieved breakthroughs, quietly and modestly, with much still happening behind the scenes," Eisenkot wrote on X moments before much of Israel shut down for the weekly Sabbath. Also read | 'Was that on air?': Israeli actress Chelli Goldenberg says she's 'no longer proud to be Israeli', realises interview is live | Watch videoYair Golan, Israel's main left-wing leader and part of the opposition bloc, also pointed to momentum. New Delhi: India has conducted a series of bilateral and multilateral military exercises with partners across the Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean in recent days, with emphasis on humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and closer operational coordination with foreign armed forces. The Indian Navy coordinated the maiden Tri-Services Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise with Myanmar, titled RAHAT MITRA, in Chennai on 5–6 November. More than 300 personnel from the three services of both countries took part. The exercise, under the theme “Together for Humanity, Stronger through Partnership", focused on professional exchanges and improving interoperability for disaster response. Indian officials described it as consistent with New Delhi’s Neighbourhood First policy and the broader strategic framework known as MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions). Also read | INS Sahyadri joins US, Japan and Australia Navies for the Malabar Exercises Separately, the long-running multilateral naval exercise MALABAR 2026 opened in Yokosuka, Japan, on 5 November. The White House, after a bruising midterm defeat, has posted a 44-second AI-generated LEGO video of Donald Trump styled as a Zelda hero, capped by a message that says the quiet part out loud: he is still in charge. The video, titled "The Legend of Trump: Make America Great Again," was posted on the official White House X and Instagram account after Republicans lost control of Congress. Its caption, "It's dangerous to go alone! Take this 🇺🇸," lifts directly from the classic Zelda scene where an old man hands Link his first sword.
What's in the video
The clip opens on a Zelda-style title card, a blue shield with a red bird emblem and a sword crossed behind it, with "PRESS CONTINUE" at the bottom. A low-poly, Nintendo 64-style Trump then appears in a dark blue suit, red tie and a red hat reading "STILL YOUR PRESIDENT."Also read | 'Hazardous waste' to ‘mission failed’: Iran mocks Trump as Democrats sweep the 2026 US midterms | WATCHFrom there, he runs through a grassy nighttime forest toward a hollow tree, complete with heart containers, a green stamina bar, an attack button and a floating fairy companion. Text boxes surface along the way, claiming the sharpest drop in prescription drug prices in more than 60 years through Most-Favored-Nations pricing, and zero illegal alien releases into the US for 17 consecutive months. The scene then cuts to the Oval Office, where Trump sits at the Resolute Desk signing documents, flags behind him. A final text box reads: "President Trump is working tirelessly... TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!!" The video ends on a white line drawing of the White House and the words "PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP." After Republicans suffered a loss in the US Midterms, the Trump White House has posted an AI video casting the POTUS as a Zelda-style hero, complete with a hat with the reminder "STILL YOUR PRESIDENT." Read the full story here.

What's in the video The clip opens on a Zelda-style title card, a blue shield with a red bird emblem and a sword crossed behind it, with "PRESS CONTINUE" at the bottom. A low-poly, Nintendo 64-style Trump then appears in a dark blue suit, red tie and a red hat reading "STILL YOUR PRESIDENT." Text boxes surface along the way, claiming the sharpest drop in prescription drug prices in more than 60 years through Most-Favored-Nations pricing, and zero illegal alien releases into the US for 17 consecutive months. TRUMP." Watch it here:
