Over a dozen stolen classic cars worth USD 3 million recovered

The May 14th raid involved a collaborative effort from various OPP units. The Fleet, Supply and Weapons Services Bureau, Central Hastings OPP Crime Unit and Emergency Response Team all played a crucial role. Additionally, the OPP-led Provincial Auto Theft and Towing (PATT) Team and the OPP-led Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit (PAFU) provided valuable assistance.

"Collaboration across our organisation and with our partner agencies is imperative to combat the prevalence of auto theft and related fraud within Ontario," said OPP Det. Sup. Paula Milne of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau. "This investigation is another testament to the surge we have seen in auto theft and financial crimes over the last few years and the need for subject matter expert involvement in these investigations."

The investigation appears to have targeted Robert Bradshaw and Gary Leblanc, according to GlobalNews. Both individuals reportedly have a history with the law, having pleaded guilty to ten separate charges and paying fines in 2003 for violations of the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act. This time around, they face serious charges including theft of motor vehicles over $5,000, fraud over $5,000, using forged documents, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. Leblanc has also been charged with uttering threats.

While authorities haven't released a complete list of recovered vehicles, photos offer a glimpse into the hidden treasure trove. The collection appears to include several classic Chevrolet Corvettes, a vintage Ford F-1 pickup truck, and multiple pristine hot rods from the 1930s. These classic beauties are likely destined for a much brighter future than the one intended by those involved in their theft.

The successful bust serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies. It also highlights the ongoing challenge of auto theft and the need for specialised expertise in tackling such crimes. While the fate of the accused remains to be determined in court, the recovered classic cars are sure to find their way back to loving owners or collectors, their value far exceeding just the monetary.
