Acciona's Silence S04 is an electric urban NanoCar with removable batteries

Acciona has recently brought out its newest product in urban mobility through the NanoCar Silence S04, a car that is totally electric, compact and suitable to move in an urban environment. The S04 is available for purchase now at Silence’s flagship stores in Madrid and Barcelona or through various dealerships in Spain and the rest of Europe, and the company hopes to revolutionise the way people move around cities with the help of its innovative functions and environmentally friendly design.

The Silence S04 distinguishes itself in the market with its compact dimensions. It measures 2.28 meters in length, 1.26 meters in width, and 1.57 meters in height, allowing for easy maneuverability and efficient use of parking space. Despite its dimensions being as compact as a city car, it is quite roomy – with the boot volume of 247 liters; it can comfortably accommodate two persons plus cargo, having almost no effect on the environment.

Key to its practicality is the innovative battery system: with the two detachable lithium-ion batteries totaling 11.2kWh (2x5.6kWh), the S04 incorporates Acciona’s own rapid battery swap system. There currently are over 1,200 exchange points in the main Spanish cities so that the batteries are swapped in less than half a minute, similar to refueling.

In terms of performance, the Silence S04 L7e variant can go up to 149 km in the WMTC cycle with the help of a 14kW (19hp) electric motor and it takes less than 7 seconds to reach 50 km/hour from zero. Literally car takes 0 seconds to start and can go up to a maximum speed of 85 km per hour. To meet the needs of cities where a higher speed is not needed, L6e version has more power in the battery as the range of 175 kilometers and maximum speed of 45 kilometers per hour hence suitable for young drivers with an AM license.

As for connectivity and convenience, the My Silence app improves user experience as smartphones are turned into vehicle key, users can check battery status, route, or their vehicle’s location. It also allows some additional features as interior preconditioning from a remote location and receiving security alerts in real time, that combines comfort and security.

The pricing for the NanoCar under subscription begins at EURO 9,870 for the L6e, and EURO 11,680 for the L7e, and thus the NanoCar, in the pool of e-mobile autos, is quite affordable. There are additional incentives for buyers, as the installations might be funded in part or in full by the Spanish Moves III Plan grant; in addition, tax deductions will certainly make it even more affordable and ecologically safe.
