<p>China and the WHO claims that the surge in cases is due to a change in the way of diagnosing the virus.</p>

<p>Health officials in Hubei said they started to count clinically diagnosed cases to ensure that patients get treated as early as possible instead of having to wait for laboratory tests to confirm they have the COVID-19 disease.</p>

<p>Mike Ryan, head of WHO's health emergencies programme, said: "We've seen this spike in the number of cases reported in China, but this does not represent a significant change in the trajectory of the outbreak."</p>

<p>"Outside the cases on the Diamond Princess cruise ship we are not seeing a dramatic increase in transmission outside China," Ryan added.</p>

<p>As the virus continued to spread, Larry Kudlow, the director of the National Economic Council said he was "disappointed" with the lack of "transparency" from Chinese officials over the virus.</p>

<p>"We're more than willing to work with the UN (and) WHO on this and they won't let us. I don't know what their motives are. I do know that apparently more and more people are suffering over there."</p>

<p>It is quite alarming because the temperature has crossed the barrier of 20 degrees for the first time in Antarctica.</p>

<p>It is important to note that the 20.75 degrees celsius logged by Brazilian scientists at Seymour island on February 9 was almost a full degree higher than another alarming figure recorded almost four&nbsp;decades ago.</p>

<p>In January 1982, a previously high temperature of 19.8-degree celsius had been recorded on Signy Island.</p>

<p>The researcher, Shaeffer, has cautioned that the reading is a "one-off" and is not part of a long-term data set. He also says that the reading has no meaning with respect to a "climate change trend".</p>

<p>This alarming news comes a week after Argentina's national meteorological service recorded&nbsp;the hottest day at 18.3 degrees celsius at midday near the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula.</p>

<p>Former NBA star Kobe Bryant and his thirteen-year daughter Gianna Bryant were buried in a private ceremony near their family home in Newport Beach, California,&nbsp;according to the death certificates.</p>

<p>Los Angeles Lakers star <a href="https://www.wionews.com/.../nba-legend-kobe-bryant-and-his-daughter- gianna-among-9-killed-in-a-chopper-crash-in-california-276748">Kobe Bryant's death</a> shook the whole world, he and his thirteen-year-old daughter Gianna were among the nine people who were killed in a helicopter crash in southern California on January 26.</p>

<p>According to the National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report, the helicopter crash showed <a href="https://www.wionews.com/.../no-sign-of-engine-failure-in-kobe-bryant- helicopter-crash-ntsb-279333">no signs of engine failure</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Memorials sprang up around the city as fans left flowers, balloons, basketballs, stuffed animals, jerseys and other memorabilia in Bryant's honour at the Lakers' Staples Center arena, the team training facility in suburban El Segundo and as close to the crash site as they could get.</p>

<p>The Lakers honoured Bryant with a pre-game ceremony less than a week after his death and a public memorial for Bryant and the other victims have&nbsp;been scheduled for February 24 at Staples Center which has the capacity of 20,000 people which will be called "a celebration of life".</p>

<p>Bryant's wife Vanessa was said to be "heartbroken" and "numb" after the death of her husband and her thirteen-year-old daughter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Tuesday, Vanessa posted a video on Instagram in which glimpses of her daughter Gianna playing for the Mamba Academy (Basketball academy set up by Kobe Bryant) along with her father Kobe Bryant could be seen.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She had an emotional message in the caption of the post where she said: " My brain refuses to accept that both Kobe and Gigi (Gianna's nickname) are gone. I can’t process both at the same time. It’s like I’m trying to process Kobe being gone but my body refuses to accept my Gigi will never come back to me."</p>

According to the National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report, the helicopter crash showed no signs of engine failure. Memorials sprang up around the city as fans left flowers, balloons, basketballs, stuffed animals, jerseys and other memorabilia in Bryant's honour at the Lakers' Staples Center arena, the team training facility in suburban El Segundo and as close to the crash site as they could get. The Lakers honoured Bryant with a pre-game ceremony less than a week after his death and a public memorial for Bryant and the other victims have been scheduled for February 24 at Staples Center which has the capacity of 20,000 people which will be called "a celebration of life". On Tuesday, Vanessa posted a video on Instagram in which glimpses of her daughter Gianna playing for the Mamba Academy (Basketball academy set up by Kobe Bryant) along with her father Kobe Bryant could be seen. She had an emotional message in the caption of the post where she said: " My brain refuses to accept that both Kobe and Gigi (Gianna's nickname) are gone. I can’t process both at the same time.
