World of Africa: Nigerians kick-start 2023 with a colourful carnival
Dancers and musicians took part in a carnival in Lagos, Nigeria. Called Fanti carnival, the event is a yearly tradition usually held on the first day of the year and was inspired by former migrants who returned from brazil to Lagos in the 19th century.
