Winter knocks, Delhi imposes first round of pollution curbs
Winter pollution curbs are set to take effect in Delhi from November 1 as the capital prepares for worsening air quality. Restrictions will target certain vehicles registered outside Delhi, vehicles without valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates and dust-generating construction work. The government has also proposed cutting in-office staff by 50% to reduce commuting and traffic emissions.
